[OP: ]

(Roxanna empire, capital city, Heliox estate, Nolan’s workroom: )

When Anna first disappeared, Nolan was devastated. When Eon had gone to the forbidden forest, she was even more broken and could not focus on her work.

She wanted to see her children again. Every single day, every single moment that she spent, she was worried that something would happen to her children.

She trusted Eon enough to know he would bring her back, but she was still anxious since she knew anything could happen to them and that there might very well be times when they are faced with challenges that they might be able to handle.

Even with her father and aunt with them, she could not stop worrying about her children.

As a result of this, she could not focus on her work either… something that ultimately led to a lot of complications all around the world.

“You’re saying they could not handle even that much?” She was furious now that she was seeing the aftermath of her absence that wasn’t even caused by her people.

“They did not receive direct orders from you so they refused to do it, which ultimately led to the shortage.”

“Are they right in their heads? No in the first place, do they even have enough intelligence to be running those businesses?”

As a central figure in various industries, her influence on the world economy was more significant than what people might imagine.

She wasn’t just the owner of Hiranni, she was also in charge of various businesses involving food, artifacts, manpower, as well as dealings that should not be known to the public.

Among these dealings, her direct involvement with various matters has always led to a positive outcome.

Her unique ability to judge the situation, her eyes that could foresee the profits that were to be made as well and her exceptional ability to handle various tasks not only gave her the nickname of the (Golden Demoness) but by the ones close to her, she was also called the (Eyes of gold).

They were well familiar with her absence for a short while so there were protocols in place in case she needed to take a break for personal reasons… However, this time, her absence had caused some unexpected situations around the world.

Situations that even she did not understand…

“What is this about the supply of the potions? I thought we had guards in place?”

“We do, Ma’am. However, it seems like our trade route was overtaken by some monsters and bandits.

We hired mercenaries to clear them out, however the mercenaries were all annihilated. We got help from the Adventurers Association and stronger parties, so the matter was resolved later. However…”

The system that she had in place to help her with various tasks was simple. Med’s grandfather, the right hand person, was supposed to take charge of most of the things in her stead.

With the help of all the people trained by Sir Zhen, the information network that was established was strong enough to not cause any problems with her messages.

Even though she was not in the state of handling anything, she still knew her duties and at least relied on her commands through her information network.

Eon solidified this network and developed artifacts that made communication faster and smoother, so there should not have been any problems with them.

Yet, at a time when she needed them, Med’s grandfather fell ill and her other trusted people had to deal with the people that suddenly started attacking their businesses.

It was almost as if the information about her absence was leaked and people took advantage of it on a large scale.

There even came times when the people had to change strategies and use means that they would only use in emergencies, creating a mess that was now pretty difficult to clean up.

Yet… expecting all this, Nolan was ready to deal with these things.

What she did not expect to face, however, were situations where her people and her business was directly targeted by her obvious enemies.

“This is bullshit. The bandits aside, how could a protected zone have monsters? A party of adventurers was annihilated? Is that even possible?”

The reports that she was seeing, the things that she was reading since early this morning did not make much sense.

The only obvious answer that she could come up with right now, was how there should be information leaks, but that too was insufficient for this level of mess.

“And you’re telling me this wasn’t happening with just us but all of the other leading powers? Even the royalties were affected by strange things that were happening?”

Nolan was furious right now.

Also, she immediately attributed all this to the evil cultists that they all knew about. But, the fact that her own opponents were involved in this and the market was not greatly affected also indicated a deeper game.

“I… I apologize, Miss. We have looked into this with the best of our abilities but we could not find the source of the problems. They hid themselves very well… it almost seemed like they did not exist at all.”

The leading powers in the world, the imperial businesses, and even the Lothschild. They were so bold that they did not mess with them, they were helping out the powers that directly opposed them to shake the holding of these powers.

“It’s not your fault, don’t worry.”

Information was being leaked from somewhere. But knowing her people, she knew they wouldn’t be the snakes.

Also, knowing about the cultists that have infiltrated all around the world and how they were increasing each day, she knew they might also have the means to get confidential information.

Still, this was not going to work.

“Gather the executives. Tell them to gather at the Glory household.”

Media’s grandfather was old but he wasn’t so weak that some simple illness could affect him so much. There was something more to this as well.

“Get one of the experts from the medical facility as well. Also, contact Nerissa from the north and request assistance from her in case you receive my orders. Keep her on standby for the time being.”

Viscount Glory was not a man that would fall to simple illnesses. He was a (tier-4) mage as well so there weren’t many illnesses in the world that could affect him.

The fact that he had fallen ill out of the blue and had not recovered still meant there was something more to this illness that the priests and the other physicians could not find.

They needed someone who knew advanced diagnostic techniques, someone that had learned the techniques that were found in the tomb in the Atraxia estate.

They needed someone skilled and trusted as well, so the person at the place that Nolan sent her attendant to was also one that Eon had established himself.

There were people capable enough to figure out even the elements inside one’s blood. The technology that they could use was also far more advanced than what the priests could carry around with them.

“Understood, Countess.”

The aide vanished into the shadows and left the room empty.

“Huuuu…”

There was a pile of documents on her desk. There were a bunch of other attendants waiting for her command on the left side of her desk while the room to the secret door on the right was open right now.

Brian was there, taking some important stuff to set out on a journey of his own, so she won’t be seeing him for a few days.

She needed some time alone to deal with all these complicated problems as well so she continued going through the documents with a serious look.

-Boooooooom!

Outside of the window behind her desk, she could see her little girl fighting against her Taika. The two of them weren’t playing right now. Her little girl was holding a sword and Taika had her claws out.

The two of them were training. And after coming back from the forest, after her awakening, Anna had become taller.

She was going to become an adult in a few years as well, but she did not look like her brothers and sisters until now.

Nolan knew it was going to change starting now, so she was sad. Still, since had not been able to see Eon growing up closely, she did not want to miss the same with Anna as well.

She was going to be there for her for everything she needed.

“Haaa… who’s going to report about the things going on in the north?” She returned to her work.

Inside their room, Brian picked up a photo of him and his family… and placed it inside of his storage space.

He was going to a place where he might be spending a while. He was the lord of that place as well, so he needed to look after the beings that lived there for a while.

Anna was learning to sword from her grandfather and her knight uncle Mel. Taika was her training partner.

They had found someone who could teach her Arcane arts as well, but she would only start her training after a few weeks.

Pappy was growing as she grew as well. The two of them had learned the basics but they still did not know how to apply the energy that they possessed into various cool things.

She wanted to cast magic, she wanted to do cool things with her elemental attributes.

She had five elemental affinities and yet she had not used them for much of anything. Though, that was going to change soon.

She was a genius as well, so, she will surprise her new teacher as much as she surprised her family every single day.

Her family as well, was looking forward to seeing the reaction her teacher will have…

It wasn’t going to be simple. That much they knew for certain.
