Is It Too Late to Leave the Chat Group?

Book 6: Chapter 67:1: King Arthur: Excalibur! Part 1

After eliminating a team of unfortunate players who had run to their doom, Chen Heng and his team scattered to various corners of the building. This served two purposes: to allow the team to observe the surroundings from all four directions and to avoid being wiped out by enemy grenades, thus increasing their chances of turning the tide.

Initially, Chen Heng’s team patiently watched from each window. However, as minutes passed with no sign of enemies, someone grew restless and started searching other buildings for supplies. Even if she had no need for more resources, she still insisted on searching. How strange!

“Hey! Ah Heng, do you need any attachments? I’ll check the other buildings.” That’s right. It was Jeanne d’Arc.

“Hmm, let me see. I need a rifle compensator and a quick-draw extended magazine for a rifle if you find them. Please keep an eye out for a red dot sight as well. I’m not comfortable with the holographic sight.” While he could patiently observe the enemy, he was genuinely pleased when someone offered to search for supplies.

“Got it,” Jeanne d’Arc replied before jumping down from the third-floor window.

“Why don’t you take the stairs? Jumping from the third floor results in fall damage,” Chen Heng commented.

“I know, I know. You’re even more annoying than the white Jeanne d’Arc,” Jeanne d’Arc retorted.

“So, Jeanne d’Arc, have you accepted that you’re the dark Jeanne d’Arc?”

“Mind your own business,” Jeanne d’Arc couldn’t help but retort again.

“Okay, alright, as long as you’re happy.”

Jeanne d’Arc had searched several more buildings, but no one had arrived yet. Even though it was already the fourth circle, no one was occupying these buildings.

However, the good news was that Jeanne d’Arc had found the items Chen Heng needed, and now he was fully equipped.

“I hear gunshots; it seems like they’re coming from the direction of R City.” Chen Heng vaguely made out the sound of continuous gunfire, and a faint gunshot icon on the minimap confirmed that he wasn’t mistaken.

“I know, but R City is too far from here, and there’s a school in between.” Jeanne d’Arc had returned to the dormitory building after searching for supplies and was now sitting next to Chen Heng.

“It’s far, I admit, but with the AWM and an 8x scope, as long as they dare to climb the mountain between the school and R City, I can hit them,” Chen Heng confidently told Jeanne d’Arc.

“Are you that good at shooting?” Jeanne d’Arc was slightly skeptical.

“Come on, don’t forget I’m a seven-star Sniper operator. Hitting an enemy in the head from 400 kilometers away is no problem at all.”

“You must have watched too many anti-Japanese fantasy dramas. Hitting enemies from 400 kilometers away? Why not 4,000 kilometers?”

“Ahem! What I just said was a bit exaggerated, but you can’t deny that with my firearm proficiency, I can definitely be considered an ace sniper.” Chen Heng chatted with Jeanne d’Arc while looking through the 8x scope mounted on the AWM, focusing on the hill between R City and the school.

“Okay, okay, you’re amazing. Keep it up. Stay strong,” Jeanne d’Arc encouraged Chen Heng lackadaisically.

“Ah! What half-hearted encouragement.”

Chen Heng listened to the gunshots while keeping an eye on the scores of the red and black sides. He wasn’t sure if there was a red team among the teams fighting on the second floor, but neither could he be sure that there wasn’t a red team. Bold assumptions and cautious handling were the keys to victory.

“If the opposing team is the red side, we definitely should prioritize them,” Chen Heng said.

The current score for the red side was considerably lower than that of the black side, and one team had already been eliminated, meaning ranked below the top eight with no ranking points. So, to win this game, the red side had to engage with other teams continuously, or their chances of winning would be very slim.

“Hey! Jeanne d’Arc, the red team might be among the teams fighting in R City.”

“How do you know?” As soon as Jeanne d’Arc heard Chen Heng’s words, she stood up, holding her sniper rifle and looking toward R City.

“Because, you see, when the gunshots rang out during the second wave a while ago, I was paying attention to the red side’s score and player status. The gunshots hadn’t lasted long before the red side scored one point. By the time the gunshots stopped, the red side had scored four points but also lost a player. Look, the current score is 22:20, so it’s highly likely that the team coming out of R City is the red side.”

Chen Heng had been staring through the 8x scope at the hill to the north of the school. Now that he was reasonably sure the other side was the red team, his focus had only heightened.

“Well, that makes sense. Sisters, pay close attention to the direction of R City. The team coming out of R City is very likely the red side.” After Chen Heng analyzed the situation, Jeanne d’Arc notified the others.

“Then Medusa and I will go to the rooftop together to snipe. Our field of vision will be broader.” Chen Heng invited Medusa.

“Why don’t you go alone?” Medusa replied, gesturing that they were not familiar with each other and implying that he might not be a good person.

“It’s just in case I get knocked down; there should be someone to resuscitate me, you know? Although I consider myself quite skilled, this is still a game. Even a skilled player can die when facing two opponents at once.”

“Me! Me! Me! I’ll go with you.” Jeanne d’Arc saw that Medusa had no desire to go to the rooftop with Chen Heng, so she volunteered herself.

“…Jeanne d’Arc, do you know how bad your sniping skills are? Even Ryougi Shiki and Eresh-chan are better than you.” It’s not that Chen Heng didn’t want to spend time alone with Jeanne d’Arc, but her sniping skills—or rather her overall gaming skills—were quite poor. She was the type who had a strong desire to play even though she wasn’t very good at it.

If they tallied the points after this was over, Jeanne d’Arc would definitely have the lowest damage output among the current five.

“…Go to hell, idiot.” Jeanne d’Arc again took out her frying pan and threw it at Chen Heng. Just when she was about to search for more things to throw at Chen Heng, Ryougi Shiki silently handed her a cleaver.

Jeanne d’Arc glanced at the big cleaver in her hand, fell silent, but then remembered what Chen Heng had said earlier and threw the cleaver at him.

“Alright, alright, stop throwing things. My bad. Jeanne d’Arc, you’re just not used to playing the live-action version of this game. I’ll spend more time with you in Perfect World later, and you’ll probably get the hang of it.” Worried that Jeanne d’Arc might throw a grenade or shoot at him when there was nothing left to throw, Chen Heng quickly surrendered and offered compensation to show his respect.

“Tsk! Fine, I’ll forgive you this time. Just so you know, I’m not sparing you because you want to play games with me.”

“Alright, alright, Chen Heng, let’s head upstairs,” Medusa said after seeing the commotion settled.

“Sure thing,” Chen Heng agreed. Although it was not nice to say, Medusa’s impact on this game was a tad better than Jeanne d’Arc’s. Even with a blindfold, her marksmanship was exceptional.
