Is It Too Late to Leave the Chat Group?

Book 6: Chapter 65:1: The Drama Queen, Root Shiki, Part 1

Eresh-chan had never encountered a guy like Chen Heng before—shameless, brazen, and overly familiar upon first meeting. When Chen Heng addressed her as Eresh-chan, her face flushed bright red, leaving her feeling somewhat flustered.

In Japanese, “chan” is an affectionate term used between close friends, usually reserved for younger individuals or very familiar peers. It is just like the use of “little” appended to the name of someone close to you in Chinese.

But even without the use of “chan,” being nicknamed Eresh alone was enough to disconcert Ereshkigal.

Seeing Eresh-chan growing visibly uncomfortable, Chen Heng decided to spare her from further embarrassment. He didn’t want to provoke her to the point where she might shoot him; even though he wouldn’t get hurt, gunfire tended to attract other players.

“Elder Brother, are you flirting with other girls in front of your younger sister?” Chen Heng let Eresh-chan off the hook, but someone else wasn’t so forgiving. Root, dressed in traditional Japanese attire, pointed the AK she held at Chen Heng.

[TL Note: The AK referred to here likely refers to the AKM, which is an improved version of the AK-47. Here is more information on the AKM: https://pubg.fandom.com/wiki/AKM. Here’s the Wikipedia entry for the AK-47: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-47.]

All seven Servants on the same team for this competition were immune to friendly fire, so Chen Heng wasn’t worried about Root shooting him.

“Don’t. Please don’t call me Elder Brother. I can’t handle that.” Chen Heng took a couple of steps back, distancing himself from Root.

“Oh! So, now you don’t want your younger sister anymore? You scumbag! When you need your younger sister, I work hard for you, but now that you’ve set your eyes on another girl, you don’t want me? Fine, let’s go down together.” Root, still looking like Ryougi Shiki, took out a grenade, clearly hinting at mutual annihilation.

“No, wait, let’s calm down and talk, alright? Don’t you clearly know the relationship between us?” Upon seeing Root produce the grenade, Chen Heng immediately took cover behind a wall. It was a precaution in case she decided to pull the pin in a moment of madness. It would minimize the damage; at least he wouldn’t be killed.

“Elder…Elder Brother, do you really not acknowledge me anymore? Don’t you remember that summer by the lake?” Ryougi Shiki used her right sleeve to wipe the tears that she had just cried, but she still held the grenade in her left hand.

Putting aside the drama, it was impressive how Root could pull off such a convincing act. To outsiders, Chen Heng looked like a heartless scoundrel; furthermore, it looked like he got involved with his younger sister.

Speaking of which, can someone actually cry in this game? Chen Heng thought, Erm…well, anything is possible with administrator-level privileges over the world.

Jeanne d’Arc, who was privy to the situation, showed no reaction. However, Eresh-chan and Medusa, who were in the dark, cast disdainful looks at Chen Heng. Don’t ask why Chen Heng could still feel a piercing sense of contempt despite Medusa wearing a blindfold.

“Seriously, Ro…Shiki, can you stop with the theatrics? Have you been watching too many romance dramas, and now your brain’s all messed up? Don’t forget, Shiki might already be awake, maybe even watching the livestream.” Chen Heng didn’t directly call Root by her real name. This was not only because the Servants were there but because the audience in the stands could also watch the livestream on the big screen.

“Oh! In that case…” Root’s change of expression was remarkably swift. She went from teary-eyed to deadpan in an instant.

“Drama queen.”

“Ahem! Ahem! As long as it’s a living thing, even a god, I’ll kill it for you.” Root pulled out a machete from behind her backpack as she said this.

“…Jeanne d’Arc, where should we go next? Should we stay here for now?” Chen Heng had given up on conversing with the theatrical Root in favor of discussing their next move with Jeanne d’Arc.

Jeanne d’Arc didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she opened the map and examined the positions of the two shrinking circles. After some analysis, she finally spoke up.

“The island map follows a predictable pattern for circle shrinking. If there’s water inside during the first circle’s contraction, it eliminates large non-aquatic areas first. Then, in subsequent circles, it gradually removes water areas. Judging by the current trend of these two circles, it’s highly likely to become a Yinyang circle.”

“Did someone call me?” Ryougi Shiki, who had been chatting with (teasing) Eresh, turned her head.

[TL Note: The word for Yinyang here is “Liangyi” (两仪), which are also the characters for Ryougi in Chinese.]

“No, not you. Keep talking or observe the enemy’s situation through the window.”

“Oh.”

“In that case, how about we head to the dormitory building?”

“Yes, that works.” Jeanne d’Arc observed the map and nodded in agreement with Chen Heng’s suggestion.

“Jeanne d’Arc in serious mode looks pretty cool,” Chen Heng suddenly blurted out.

“Sh-shut up!” Jeanne d’Arc blushed, then reached behind her waist and threw a frying pan at Chen Heng.

“Ah! Jeanne d’Arc, you’re blushing.”

“…” This time, Jeanne d’Arc didn’t say anything. Instead, she pulled out a grenade and removed the safety pin.

“Hey! Hey! Hey! Jeanne d’Arc, don’t mess around. I was wrong.” Chen Heng hadn’t expected Jeanne d’Arc to be so mischievous, pulling a grenade out of nowhere. Where did she learn this from?

Jeanne d’Arc saw Chen Heng’s apologetic expression and canceled her throw.

After all, a game was just a game. Even if it was a live hand grenade about to explode, one could cancel the throw. In the real world, that would be impossible.

“Hey! Hey! You two, save the flirting for later. I hear a car.” While Jeanne d’Arc is passionately interacting with Chen Heng, and Ryougi Shiki is trying to get closer to Eresh, I—Medusa—am the only one diligently observing the surroundings through the front and back windows.

“Flirting? Who’s flirting?”

“…Tsundere destroys lives,” Medusa commented, glancing at Jeanne d’Arc.

“…”
