Chapter 1152: 1152 Leave Them

They all watched through the multiple small portals Wolfe had made, using various detection spells, as the human armies searched for Ciel survivors and came up empty.

They were beginning to panic when they found the first few bunkers that had been firebombed.

They had deliberately left these spots so that there would be a population of Ciel to harvest, but now they were all gone. None of the soldiers could understand what had happened. They had no records of anyone attacking most of these locations.

The ones that had collapsed were unfortunate, but some destruction was inevitable.

“It looks like your people put up a pretty good fight.” Priya noted as she looked at the destroyed buildings.

“What do you mean? We don’t believe in violence. They did all this trying to force us out of hiding.”

Everyone else in the room winced at the memory that this fate was exactly what happened to the Magi in the past. They hadn’t fought back, and they were eliminated.

They knew now that some of the Magi had gone to other worlds to escape, but the majority of the Ciel hadn’t had that ability, as they didn’t know of any other safe spots. Only when one of them stumbled across a portal did they realize that there might be a safe spot.

“Do you know what happened to your Ninth Rank leaders? They should have been the ones that opened the portal to my world.” Wolfe asked.

“They never returned. They were going to look for help, then they didn’t return, nor did the leaders of the humans.”

“The humans had leaders?” Wolfe asked.

The Ciel nodded. “They had an Immortal leader, one more powerful than any Ciel except the Queen. But both of them left at the same time, and they didn’t come back.”

That sounded like either the Humans had somehow produced a King of their own, or someone from another species had been instigating the war against the Ciel.

“What do you think we should do?” Mary asked as she realized that the world was full of technologically advancing humans, who had just lost their target after being brainwashed and cursed.

One of the Ciel raised her hand. “Can we just … leave them there? All of their technology is based on us. So if we’re gone…” She hesitated repeatedly, as if suggesting something horrible.

“What do you mean about their technology?” Priya asked.

“Look at it. They use blood crystals as the energy medium for their machines. With us gone, they can’t replace them when they wear out.”

Mary looked confused. “Then why would they want to eliminate you in the first place? If their whole society relies on you, they need you.”

The Ciel gave her a pained smile. “I don’t think that they expected to be so effective. There were never many of us, and before things went crazy, we worked with them. We made the blood crystals for them. It was no worse than donating to the blood bank at the hospital, and it made everything better.”

Wolfe sighed as he closed the portals.

“Why don’t we sit down for a proper meal, and you can tell me all about it? They won’t be able to follow you here with our planet’s defences. I scrambled the signature of the portals when I closed them.”

They all headed to the dining hall, where they found Cassie and Ella having breakfast while the Nannies watched the little ones along the wall behind them.

The sight stopped the Ciel in their tracks, and they all stared at the little ones.

“They’re blessed. One by the Upper, one by the Lower, perfectly balanced.” The Ciel whispered in unison.

The words creeped the witches out with their group speak, but the others were already used to the group responses of the Ciel. They were technically individuals, but they were so closely linked that they tended to all respond the same to stimulus, and they shared thoughts, so they all knew what the others did.

“What is that?” Ella asked.

“We came from the Upper Planes. We were servants to the Seraphim until our world was lost. The little ones are blessed by greater beings. They will be great leaders in the future, smarter than their peers, with great wisdom and power.

King Noxus, may we stay here with the blessed ones? Perhaps one day our old master will notice us again, but until then, we would like to serve the blessed ones.”

Wolfe shrugged. “I don’t mind. Ask the ladies. Cassie, Ella, these are the Ciel. Refugees from a destroyed upper plane world. They seem quite fond of Witches, and they are also pacifists, so there is little danger of them starting trouble.”

Cassie laughed. “Other than a conflict with the Nannies about who gets to hold the babies?”

The Ciel looked horrified. “How could we think to touch such a holy being? Whether it is the Seraphim or the Banished, they are still greater beings. Anyone they have blessed is a holy person.”

Ella smirked. “Yup, definitely trouble of a different sort. We’re already worried that the girls will grow up with an inflated ego like their father.”

The Ciel were obviously confused before Wolfe smiled at them. “They are my daughters, and this is my son, Ivan David Noxus.”

“A Magi! He’s a real Magi in the flesh.” They gasped.

“Now you are willing to agree. Why was it so hard to agree that I was one?”

Priya chuckled. “Has anyone ever told you that the Ciel are far too innocent for your own good. You can’t hide any sort of emotional reaction.”

The silver skinned aliens nodded, and Calypso cooed as she saw someone spread their wings.

Her own spread from her back as she leaned against the Succubus Nanny’s chest, and she pointed at the white wings in front of her.

That got Maria’s attention, and now both infants were making vague grabbing motions toward the wings.

“Well, we can count that as two votes for you to remain here.”
