Chapter 1128: 1128 Coronation Day
Cassie tried not to laugh as a half hour later the trio came out of the room freshly showered and still casting refreshing spells on themselves so they would be ready for the evening’s events.
“Oh, so you did survive. The guests have been looking for you all day, but we informed them that you were busy helping one of the Demons with an advancement.
Most of them aren’t aware of the details, but the Lust Demons are, and everyone in the valley could feel the power overflow.” She informed them.
“Hopefully, we didn’t cause any incidents.” Rail replied, blushing furiously as she thought about the sorts of incidents that an overflow of Lust energy from a Succubus’ Rank Seven advancement could cause.
“Nothing violent or non-consensual, as far as we can tell. It was late enough at night that nearly everyone was in their suites when it started, and we filtered as much of it as we could before it spread to the castle.
However, we should likely expect a baby boom later this year.” Cassie replied, trying not to laugh at the last bit.
Wolfe smiled. “Well, that’s just a little bonus. Perhaps we might have even helped a few failing marriages decide to work things out. But I would be more concerned about the enthusiastically consensual, but not yet married, sorts of interactions.
There were a lot of dating and arranged marriage pairings happening last night, and we might have sped up some of the processes more than intended.”
Nimue came running into the room and jumped up into Wolfe’s arms.
“You’re boring. You were in bed all day. But guess what? I got to help the gardeners set up the chairs for the Coronation Ceremony, and we made flower arrangements, and decorated the throne room, and we even got the cook to make some of my favourite cookies.”
Wolfe laughed as he changed into his formal Magi Patriarch robes instead of the simple outfit he had put on.
“I guess we’re almost out of time, so we should head up and relieve whoever has been entertaining the guests while I was preoccupied.” He sighed.
Rail went to move aside, as she wasn’t technically part of the Pentacles, but Wolfe grabbed her by the shoulders and led her in front of him.
“You’re not escaping that easily. We’re going to show off the newest Overlord to all of the assembled guests. There are at least four members of your department here today, and I’m certain that they will be overjoyed to find out that you advanced again.” Wolfe insisted.
Cassie cast a healing spell on Rail, who was still walking a bit tenderly, as Ella was too tired to cast much of anything other than stamina spells to stay awake, and they made their way up to the main floors of the castle.
The guests bowed politely as they saw the procession coming, and a few gave curious looks at Rail, who they had overlooked the previous day at the dance.
They knew that she wasn’t part of the Pentacles, but she was now an Overlord Rank Demon, and most of them were certain she hadn’t been yesterday.
That must mean that she was the reason that the Magi King had been missing all day. He was helping her through her advancement.
Wolfe led them to the dining hall, where everyone would gather for a meal before the ceremony, as was the tradition for Magi and Witches. The humans didn’t do it that way, but the more magical societies could more easily come and go from an event, so it was customary to feed them before a formal event so they could go home after, and not be forced to stay overnight somewhere.
There was just something to be said about sleeping in your own bed.
“Everyone, I would like to introduce you all formally to my personal assistant, and the newest of the Demon Overlords, Rail.
She advanced last night, and I do apologize for any inconvenience that the overflow of mana may have caused. If there were any inadvertent accelerations of marriage plans, please let my Pentacle members know, and I will be sure to send along a wedding gift.”
A number of the guests laughed quietly, and Wolfe made a note of the ones who blushed or looked ashamed. Not too many, they must have started late enough at night that they really didn’t cause too many issues.
“Now, if everyone would like to find their seats, we can enjoy our dinner before the ceremony.”
Everyone took their seats, and Rail moved to her usual seat at the table beside the head table, right next to Nimue, who had a thousand new things to tell her.
The first courses were brought out, and the guests settled into their conversations, which gave the Pentacle members time to turn on Wolfe.
“So, even the mighty Magi King needed extra help to allow a Lust Demon to reach the Overlord Rank.” Drazzit teased.
Her white hair was pulled back into a single thick braid, with loose forelocks that had small blades woven to the ends hanging over her shoulders, and her dress had the appearance of white leather contrasted against her ash black skin.
It was a striking contrast, but her deep red eyes had an innocent curiosity that defied the brazen nature of her fashion.
“I will leave that answer to the ladies in question.” Wolfe replied with fake dignity.
Ella blushed and looked away, while Cassie smirked.
“It’s more likely that it was the other way around. The Succubus was more likely to need an assistant to deal with a randy Magi King. Never underestimate the ways that a Magi can adapt magic for lewd purposes.”
The dark Elf laughed. “Noted. But spill the details. We need tea.”
Khalifa thumped her on the top of the head. “Not at the dinner table, we’re not in the Underdark.”
Drazzit shrugged. “Fine, I will ask after the ceremony. My mother has seven men in her harem, and I am certain that they could use some tips. She wouldn’t be so grumpy if they were any good at their jobs.”
The mother in question was seated at a table halfway across the room, and turned to look at the Dark Elven Princess as if she could tell that she was being talked about.
