Chapter 1123: 1123 Do You Dance?

Over the course of the next day, the Guardians began to arrive at the castle to claim the best suites and socialize before the official party.

That had, unfortunately for the maids, led Wolfe and the others to modify more suites so that the castle was now much larger on the inside than it was on the outside. Where small guest suites formerly had one bedroom, they now had six around a common area, and the guests had been arranged by region, ensuring that they were mostly bunked near their neighbours.

The standard of the units, other than the Royal units, hadn’t changed. They had just added more of them so that they didn’t have to spread the guests through more of the mountain and make them travel.

Everyone had known that this was going to be an exercise in efficiency to get all the rooms cleaned every day, but they were taking it as a win that they no longer needed to travel all through the underground levels to do it.

Or worse, host party guests on the other side of the valley, which didn’t currently have a cleaning staff, as the employees were fully capable of taking care of their own homes, and the hotels hadn’t been staffed yet.

The managers had been picked, but they hadn’t had a chance to hire more than the skeleton crew that they had gotten the first day, which wasn’t enough for a fully occupied hotel.

The idea was that they would be able to add more staff on their own, with proper time to look for them, instead of the single day recruitment that had been done for the core staff.

They were about to sit for lunch in one of the larger dining halls along with hundreds of guests, and Wolfe could sense the chaos in the kitchen as they finished eating and got ready for the lunch service.

That was a policy of the new Head Chef. She had seen more than a few waitresses get dizzy or faint from working hard all morning to prepare for a special event, so she insisted that her whole staff eat before they began the service.

Making two separate meals sounded like a pain, but Wolfe noticed that lunch for the serving staff was soup and sandwiches, things that could be made in advance and then just put out for the staff.

Of course, there was a separate kitchen for the staff, but most of the cooks from there had been redirected to the main meal so that they could more easily make all of the dishes that Head Chef Andrea had planned.

The aging witch wasn’t all that large, but in her domain, she was fearsome. All of the staff were wary of her temper, though she did her best to be kind to everyone, she did not tolerate mistakes.

Head Maid Sharra had all of the serving staff in slightly fancier uniforms today, for the formal event. It let the guests easily determine what everyone’s role was.

The scullery maids wore grey aprons that hid stains better, the general maid staff wore white ones, and the servers wore dresses with buttons on the front and white trimmed black aprons.

It made everything much smoother for the visitors, as the Pentacle members knew almost everyone already. There weren’t that many people in the castle, so it didn’t take long to at least remember everyone’s face, even if you’d never asked their name.

As it wasn’t a formal dinner, Andrea had opted not to do the multiple small plates thing, and within minutes, everyone was eating happily and making plans for the afternoon.

Many of them intended to go down to the valley to check out the lake, others just wanted to relax in the castle until it was time to get ready for the evening festivities, while the Wrath Demons were trying to recruit more people to go to the training grounds to spar with them.

There were witches everywhere in the Castle, so there was no fear of lingering injuries. They just needed to stop early enough to get clean and polished for the evening dance.

The formal ceremony would take place the next afternoon, with the last of the guests arriving in the morning, but the portals were hard at work already, bringing more guests to the castle for the evening’s dance.

From what Wolfe could gather, most of the politicians and guardians had taken the plus one on their invitation as a way of forming political connections, and they had brought their eligible children along to meet the unmarried children of the other leaders.

Five hundred eligible bachelors and bachelorettes along with all of the world’s leaders made for quite the spectacle in the afternoon as they spread out to spend the leisure time that they had left. But their enthusiasm for adventure was not nearly as entertaining as the few early pairings that were already giving each other suggestive looks when they thought their parents weren’t looking.

The future leadership of some of the smaller covens and monarchies could have a very interesting family tree if things kept up this way. But at least they wouldn’t have to worry about the Fae and Demons being accepted once the crisis was over.

They would be family by then.

“What are you going to wear to the party tonight? Don’t say the traditional robes, you can’t dance in those.” Cassie demanded later that afternoon.

“I was thinking of a nice formal suit. What colour is your dress, I will match my shirt.” Wolfe replied.

Ella stepped up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist. “Both of us will be in silver tonight.”

Wolfe nodded. “Then silver and black for me. But there is one real question left to answer. Can either of you actually dance? Because I know exactly one formal dance, and that is it.

Maybe I should have grabbed a memory crystal on the topic.”

Cassie laughed and held up a small crystal. “Not only can we dance, but we can dance in the styles of all three realms that will be present today. Take a minute and memorize them yourself, there is plenty of time left.”
