Imprisoned for a Trillion Years, I Was Worshipped by All Gods!
Chapter 705 - Chapter261-Inheritance and Protection“Brilliant! Just brilliant!”Francis couldn’t stop nodding in agreement.
“Senior sister,” he said, turning toward Blanche with shining eyes, “if you’re really going to take up healing magic, then the four of us could form the ultimate squad!”
“Just think about it! We’ve got Fort, tough as nails, standing at the front line to absorb all the damage and draw enemy fire. I’ll stay in the middle casting gravity magic to control the battlefield. Then there’s Alan with his light sword, slicing through everything in sight. And even if we get hurt in the process, we’ve got you in the back healing us right back up!”
“That’s a formation with both offense and defense—flawless and unstoppable!”
The group immediately dove into a passionate discussion, bouncing ideas off each other, expanding on Francis’s proposed formation with increasing excitement. Strategies, potential combos, defense layers, surprise attacks—they covered everything.
Eventually, it was Alan who pulled them back to reality.
“Alright, that’s enough fantasizing for now,” he cut in firmly. “There’ll be plenty of chances to test out our new formation in actual combat later. What we need to focus on right now is the rebuilding of the academy.”
He turned to look toward the mountainside—and his eyelids twitched with surprise.
It had only been a few hours, but the skilled artisans sent over by the royal family and the Church had already laid out the basic foundation of the new Sirius Academy. The structural outline was already beginning to take shape.
At this rate, completion might not be far off.
Alan clapped his hands, visibly energized. “Those workers are giving their all to build our new home. We can’t afford to slack off either.”
“Senior sister,” he turned to Blanche, “you’re thoughtful and detail-oriented—perfect for overseeing the construction process. I’m not worried about the workers cutting corners, but some architectural decisions require a mage’s perspective. Without magical input, they might follow flawed blueprints. That could lead to huge problems down the line.”
“I understand!”Blanche gave a quick, decisive nod before turning and striding confidently toward the hillside.
Alan then turned to Fort.
“Fort, you grew up in Mist Woods. You know forest terrain better than anyone. For the next few days, I’ll need you to explore the forests surrounding the academy and draw up a detailed topographical map. Know the land, know your enemy, and you’ll never lose a battle.”
“Leave it to me!”
Fort accepted the rolled-up blank maps Alan handed him, then disappeared into the nearby woods with the fluid motion of a hunting leopard.
That left Francis.
Alan had already thought through what role his loudmouthed companion would play during the rebuilding process.
“Francis?”
“Here!”Francis practically sprang to attention, heart sinking. Everyone else had already been given meaningful responsibilities—but not him. He was desperate to prove that he could be useful outside of combat too.
Alan stepped forward, hooked an arm around his shoulder, and smirked. “Didn’t you say you’re great at befriending strangers? That you can strike up a conversation with anyone?”
“Well, I’ve got a very important task for you.”
“Really? A super important mission?!”Francis’s heart nearly leapt out of his chest.
“Tell me, tell me! What is it?!”
“It’s simple. Head to the refugee camps near the imperial capital. Find some people who are like you—same energy, same vibe. Talk to them. Let them know what’s going on over here at Sirius Academy. The key is to spread the word that we’re reopening admissions.”
Alan’s tone grew serious. “Whether it’s rebuilding an academy or anything else, people are everything. The more we bring in, the stronger we’ll become. It’s a win-win.”
“As expected from you! Why didn’t I think of that?”Francis sighed dramatically, suddenly feeling inadequate. He had always thought Alan’s strengths were purely physical—but apparently, the guy’s brain was just as sharp as his sword.
“Wait a second… What do you mean by ‘people like me’?”
Alan grinned. “Loudmouths. Big voices. People who can’t keep a secret to save their lives. The kind that hears something and has to spread it to the entire world.”
“Huh?! Is that how you see me?!”
“How else am I supposed to see you?”Alan’s empty, pupil-less eyes gave him a slow once-over. “Now quit standing around. Get going already!”
…
Once Francis had left, Alan quietly made his way back to the ruins of Sirius Academy.
This time, he didn’t linger inside the destroyed main hall. Instead, he walked around to the rear courtyard—the place where the gravestones were lined up.
Thanks to his soul-sensing sight, Alan could clearly see the silhouette of a human form lying silently beneath each stone.
But there was no glow of mana. Not even a flicker. Just a lifeless void at the center of every outline.
He knew what that meant.
These were the students who had fallen during the brutal battle against Lioncrest Academy. The same students that Headmaster Gayle had treasured more than anything. His pride. His legacy.
And now, they were gone. Trapped in an eternal slumber, never to see the vengeance that had been wrought, nor the rebirth of the academy they had fought to protect.
Alan knelt down and gently placed the silver flask shard he had found earlier in front of the gravestones.
Then, summoning earth element magic, he carefully smoothed out the land surrounding the graves—clean and level, a sign of peace.
“Headmaster… seniors whom I never got the chance to meet,” he said softly. “My name is Alan. I joined Sirius not long ago. And now… I’ve become the new headmaster.”
He chuckled, but it was a laugh soaked in self-deprecation.
“Funny, isn’t it? I’m not even twenty yet, and here I am—headmaster. I might be the youngest one in the entire Plantagenet Kingdom.”
His expression gradually darkened, eyes turning cold and sharp.
“I came here today to tell you one thing—Stephen is dead. Completely. Utterly. His soul’s been shattered into nothing. Not even ashes remain.”
“And from this moment forward, there is only one magic academy in the Plantagenet Kingdom—Sirius Academy!”
“You may not be able to witness this new era yourselves… but don’t worry. I’ll make sure you can see it.”
“I’ll move your remains to the highest peak. That way, you’ll be able to watch over Sirius Academy forever—see how it changes, how it grows.”
“And I hope, from your place above, you’ll protect the new students who join our academy. What happened to you… should never happen again.”
Just then, Alan sensed a familiar presence forming beside him. A humanoid silhouette manifested silently.
He didn’t react with alarm. He recognized it immediately.
Archbishop Daniel.
The old man walked up slowly, holding a bouquet of white baby’s breath. Without saying a word, he placed the flowers next to the silver flask fragment. Then, he bowed his head in silence.
After a while, Daniel finally spoke, his voice hoarse and heavy with emotion.
“I always had great respect for Gayle. Not just because he single-handedly kept Sirius Academy from collapsing… but because of his virtues—virtues most mages have long abandoned.”
“Kindness. Integrity. In this age, they’re rare. Today’s young mages—they progress faster than we ever did. Their talents and growth rates are far superior to ours.”
“But the stronger they become, the more they seem to lose touch with basic human decency.”
“Alan, the reason I chose to stand by your side, even at great personal risk… is because I see a piece of Gayle in you. And I believe—you’ll surpass him.”
“…Thank you, Archbishop Daniel.”
Alan knew the old man meant every word. And so he responded with equal sincerity.
The two stood in silence for a long time, the wind gently brushing past the gravestones.
Eventually, Alan broke the silence.
“Archbishop… don’t you still have many duties to attend to at the Church? What brings you all the way here today?”
