Chapter 808: First Day of School
Today was 28 Middle’s official first day of school. The sky was exceptionally clear, the sun was exceptionally bright, and the flowers on campus were exceptionally colorful. The teachers greeted us with smiling faces at the entrance. Xiao Qin and I were now in our third year and just started a new school year, just like a boat raising a new sail when it heads out to sea…
A new sail my ass!
If I were an elementary school student who likes to kiss the teacher’s ass, then I might have used the above to describe the start of the school year, right? But that’s not the case! Trust me, it’s not true!
We still haven’t had enough fun over the summer break! We haven’t completed our exercise plans, weight loss plans, or even study plans! How can we work out after school starts? How can we lose weight after school starts? How can we study after school starts?
The start of school is a global disaster against humanity! As far as I can see, there are young people suffering from the start of school syndrome everywhere. They all walked around like zombies as they dragged their bodies slowly towards the school building!
The only ones who were surprised were the first years! They’ve just gone from being dumb elementary school students to dumb freshmen who are curious about everything, but it won’t last long! You will soon find out that middle school is just as boring as elementary school! The only good thing is that you don’t have to wear a red scarf anymore!
As I looked at the freshmen who were eager to make new friends, I once again felt that I had become an adult… they were so childish.
Xiao Qin and I saw the sign of “class 3-3” in the corridor of the third floor, then we heard the sound of running footsteps from behind us.
“I’m not late, right? I’m not late, am I?” Winnie asked loudly as she came running with her school bag slung over her shoulder.
“I forgot we changed classrooms and I went to our old classroom on the second floor! What the hell! How could I have such bad luck on the first day!”
Winnie then slapped her own forehead and turned it bright red.
“There’s no need to rush, there’s still time.” Xiao Qin advised, “Also, the teacher of the first class is teacher Yu, so even if we are late, we won’t be punished like the language teacher.”
“Oh? It’s Yu JinGuo! Then I don’t need to be worried.”
Winnie said and slowed down her pace. Actually, we were already near the classroom, so we would have arrived immediately regardless if you walked or ran.
I don’t remember teacher Yu’s full name, since he doesn’t really have much of a presence. Thus the students gave him a nickname “Yu JinGuo (fish going into a pot)”.
“By the way, Xiao Qin, thanks for yesterday!” Winnie said to Xiao Qin.
“You’re thanking me?”
“That’s right!” Winnie patted Xiao Qin’s shoulder, “Thanks to you, my parents didn’t get into a fight at the parent-teacher meeting, otherwise it would have been really embarrassing!”
Actually, yesterday papa bear and mama bear had already argued to the point that neither of them was going to attend the parent-teacher meeting, but Winnie seemed reluctant to admit that she still cared quite a bit whether her parents attended or not.
“No need to thank me, it’s what I should have done.” Xiao Qin said modestly, “Best friends are supposed to help each other!”
“That’s right!” Winnie’s face instantly brightened up, “Let’s not worry about the parents! The two of us should just work hard and study!”
The three of us stepped into the classroom right when the warning bell rang, so we weren’t late.
Due to the importance of the third year, everyone got up very early. The classroom was basically already full and only Zhuang Ni’s seat was still empty.
Huh? The class leader said Zhuang Ni will attend class at the meeting the day before yesterday, but it seems that Zhuang Ni broke her promise.
But it’s good for me that she’s not coming back, it would at least save me some trouble.
The class leader, who made a round trip, looked at Zhuang Ni’s empty seat and silently started sending text messages. Who knows if she could actually get Zhuang Ni to come.
Gong CaiCai’s seat was in the first row closest to the lectern. Xiao Qin accidentally knocked Gong CaiCai’s stack of textbooks askew when she passed through the aisle.
“Are you alright?” Xiao Qin changed her usual approach and immediately apologized to Gong CaiCai, “Don’t get mad at me, Cai Cai! I’ll straighten it up for you right away…”
Xiao Qin’s abnormal behavior scared Gong CaiCai. Her face became whiter than paper and she trembled as she said:
“It’s okay! I’m not mad at you! I have never been mad at you before either! I never said anything bad about you either! It’s… true!”
For some reason, Gong CaiCai apologized while looking at me, as if her primary target of apology was not Xiao Qin.
I looked at Gong CaiCai strangely, and as a result, Gong CaiCai shivered so much that she dropped her seashell hairpin on the ground, and the automatic pencil that was in her hand also fell on the ground.
Huh? Gong CaiCai shouldn’t be that afraid of me? She believed the rumors that I would kill people at the drop of a hat, but that was a long time ago! She should know now that I’m not that scary, and she even spoke up for me at the class committee meeting the other day!
I suspected that Xiao Qin deliberately bumped into Gong CaiCai’s textbook so that she could take the opportunity to see if she needed any help and thus get the stars, but there wasn’t any reason for Gong CaiCai to be so scared.
It’s because the class leader was in the classroom! Although she was sending text messages to Zhuang Ni, she was still watching the class like a hawk! The class leader will definitely protect the weak! Why was Gong CaiCai so scared?
Xiao Qin also asked in confusion, “Is there something on my face? Cai Cai, why are you looking at me like that…”
“No, there’s nothing there…” Gong CaiCai was still trembling.
“(^__^)hehehe… could it be that Cai Cai you said something bad about me behind my back and now you have a guilty conscience?”
“I didn’t say anything bad about Xiao Qin classmate!” Gong CaiCai showed an extremely frightened expression. She was shouting like a little rabbit that was sitting under a butcher’s knife, “I’ve already seen Zhuang Ni with my own eyes, so I know what will happen if you say bad things about Xiao Qin classmate. I will never say anything bad about Xiao Qin! Please believe me…”
Gong CaiCai said those last few words at me, then I suddenly realized: Gong CaiCai had mistakenly thought that the reason Zhuang Ni was beaten up by me at the class leader’s house was because she had said bad things about Xiao Qin. The image of Zhuang Ni with a swollen face and red neck was still fresh in Gong CaiCai’s mind, and she was afraid that she would be treated the same way.
So she was desperate to justify that she hadn’t said anything bad about Xiao Qin? What a groundless fear!
The reason why I roughed up Zhuang Ni was because she called Auntie Ren’s aborted child a “thing” and said a lot of things that angered me! I didn’t have a habit of hitting women! If Zhuang Ni had even said a single nice word, I probably would have spared her!
So what Gong CaiCai feared, that I would slap her, then pin her on the bed and choke her —— would never happen! Are you even a man if you hit Gong CaiCai!
Also, Gong CaiCai’s physical condition wasn’t as good as Zhuang Ni’s. If you choke Gong CaiCai’s soft neck, you will definitely make her take her last breath within a minute. Gong CaiCai can then become an angel and fly to heaven, then she can be bullied by the other angels.
Soon the bell rang, teacher Yu spent half the class giving a lesson on life, and the remaining half of the class on English.
Not many people listened carefully to the life lesson, as for the English lesson… not too many people listened carefully either.
Everyone was basically immersed in fond memories of the summer holidays, thinking of the days they spent playing happily, exercising, losing weight, and studying.
The first class of the new semester passed in a flash. It was neither meaningful nor informative and didn’t leave an impression.
I got a phone call from my dad when I came out of the washroom during break.
“Hello? Dad, where the hell have you been? I can’t believe you really didn’t come home last night!”
I sounded like a parent reprimanding a child. My dad was used to it and didn’t care.
“Xiao Lin, didn’t I already tell you the truth yesterday? Later, I went to the bar with Auntie Ren to drink…”
“Did you drink all night?!” I could tell my dad’s voice was a little hoarse, so he probably slept very late yesterday.
My dad hesitated for a moment, “We didn’t drink all night, we went to a hotel later…”
“I can’t believe you actually have the gall to admit it! I think you guys aren’t even trying to hide it! If Xiao Qin wasn’t so dim in this regard, she would have already realized that there was something going on between the two of you!”
I wasn’t actually opposed to my dad and Auntie Ren going to a hotel, but I think they should finalize their marriage first.
“Xiao Lin, you really have a dirty mind. I didn’t actually do anything with Auntie Ren last night, we’re innocent…”
“Who are you trying to trick! Are you telling me you guys didn’t do anything when you went to the hotel? It’s not like you guys haven’t done it before!”
“This… time is different. Auntie Ren wasn’t in a good mood and she drank too much. I had to drag her to a nearby a hotel and checked out a room with a doubles bed…”
“How can you say you’re innocent when you’re on a doubles bed! Dad, do you even know what the word innocent means?!”
“It’s because the standard rooms were all booked, so there was no other choice!” My dad explained, “Auntie Ren was very drunk, so I was afraid something would happen in the middle of the night if I left her alone, so I had to keep her company…”
He wasn’t wrong. One of my grandfather’s old comrades went to sleep lying on his back when he was drunk and he ended up getting suffocated by his own vomit.
“So… you slept in the same bed with Auntie Ren and didn’t take advantage of her, right? Did you really just take care of her?”
“Of course! Xiao Lin, how can you doubt your father’s character! I was very responsible to make sure Auntie Ren laid on her side!”
“How did you make Auntie Ren lie on her side?” I had a bad feeling.
“So, it’s a nice day today, is school going well?”
“Don’t try to change the subject! How did you get Auntie Ren to lie on her side?!”
“Ugh! Xiao Lin, why do you always have to get to the bottom of things? It was just a little hug! But I can understand now why you can’t sleep without a body pillow…”
