Chapter 804: Where’s The Modesty?
Ai Mi gave me an example and I learned that among the Hollywood actresses, Korean actresses, and even Chinese actresses, there are a small number who suffer from “kleptomania”. They would often steal goods of low value that they don’t need from hotels, airports, and gas stations, then throw it away later to destroy the evidence.
It was a pathological behavior developed to relieve stress.
In one of the magazines my dad subscribes to, an article specifically talks about this issue, an American expert said: a certain portion of the people have kleptomania to reduce stress, another portion of the people have kleptomania because they have low levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine in the brain which leads to depression and weakened self-control.
“Hmph, the supermarket should feel honored when I steal from them.”
Ai Mi was not ashamed at all, but rather proud.
Damn it, I don’t want a sister who steals from a supermarket! Xiao Qin was just starting to be reformed, but is she going to walk the path of crime again?
Although you would be essentially buying worthless goods from the supermarket for twice the price, but it doesn’t change your criminal behavior. Why does both my step-sister and actual sister always give me so much trouble? I think Ai Mi also needs discipline. Do you want me to add you to the star system too?
My impulse was quickly suppressed by reason.
That was close, Ai Mi is different than Xiao Qin. The reason why I could lead Xiao Qin by the nose with the star system was because Xiao Qin was satisfied with head pats and a hug. She also wanted to save ten thousand stars to become my girlfriend again.
The same wouldn’t work for Ai Mi! If I gave Ai Mi stars for good deeds, she wouldn’t be satisfied with head pats or hugs. She would definitely exchange her stars for an excessive request. Also, even if Ai Mi saves a hundred million stars, she can’t become my girlfriend! If she doesn’t have a reward to save for, then how would I discipline her?
I decided to give up disciplining both my sisters simultaneously, then I brought Ai Mi to the cashier and paid for the three cans of chips.
Ai Mi took a pack of gum off a nearby rack and stuffed it into her pocket.
“What are you doing, take it out.”
Xiao Qin said responsibly in my stead. She then put her hands under Ai Mi’s armpits so she couldn’t move, then I effortlessly took the gum out of her pocket.
“I don’t need you to pay, I don’t want it anymore. I don’t like gum anyways.”
Ai Mi angrily thrashed around while still under Xiao Qin’s control. I easily avoided her attacks, then I passed the gum to the cashier to scan.
“I’ll eat it if you won’t, it’s not like it costs a lot.”
After we walked a couple steps away from the cashier, we bumped into 004 and 005, along with an old granny with a cane. The old granny had a full face of wrinkles like a walnut and she was currently using her cane to hit the two bodyguard’s butts.
“You aren’t even watching where you’re walking and bumped into me! Can you even afford to pay if you hurt me?!”
After some questioning, I found out Ai Mi purposely pushed 004 and 005 into the old granny and took the chance to sneak into the store to eat chips.
Ai Mi, what are you doing? You’re not supposed to even touch an old granny or grandpa. You might get sued and forced to pay, then you will lose your helicopter and only be left with a blender!
Fortunately, the old granny was hale and hearty. Although people would believe it if she said that she was a hundred years old, but it kind of felt like she was a hidden master.
I’m not making it up, you can tell when you see how fast she’s using her cane to whip 004 and 005.
She would instantly strike both bodyguard on their butts, then she would quickly pull her cane back before her old body lost balance. The entire action was smooth and as fluid as water. She also already did it many times and it didn’t look like there was an end in sight.
004 and 005 already didn’t have passable Chinese, so now after meeting the old granny, they could only mumble in English.
“You two are useless.” Ai Mi pointed at 004 and 005, “Why can’t you even deal with an old granny? If she keeps pestering you, then just dig a hole and bury her!”
“You’re quite the vicious brat.” The old granny slammed her cane down on the ground and the wrinkles on her face trembled, “You’re the brat who pushed me earlier, so take me to see a doctor.”
Her voice was sharp, but she didn’t cry or make a scene, and she stopped hitting 004 and 005.
004 and 005 covered their butts and was worried about how to deal with the situation. They then noticed Xiao Qin and their faces turned pale. Each of them took one of their hands and also used it to cover their front.
“You want to see a doctor, don’t you?” Ai Mi said, “I happen to have a personal doctor, you can watch him work all day. I’ll let you look at his front, back, and side until you are satisfied.”
So you’re playing with words now, no wonder Ai Mi’s level in Chinese was the max. The old granny didn’t want to ‘look’ at a doctor, she wanted to get checked by a doctor.
The old grannies’ response was out of my expectations. Her eyes flashed and she asked: “Is the doctor handsome?”
“No.” Ai Mi replied, “It’s a strange uncle who doesn’t even shave every day.”
“Then I’m not going to look.” The old granny pounded her back and coughed, “I would rather go home and watch a rerun of Full House than look at a doctor that’s not handsome.”
Unexpectedly, she turned around to leave and didn’t even ask for compensation. She stopped after a couple steps, opened her toothless mouth, and smiled at Ai Mi:
“Little girl, it’s true your family is wealthy and others can’t compare… but don’t go around bullying others. As the saying goes, don’t burn all your bridges, right?”
It felt like there was a hidden meaning in her words. I was about to ask about it, but then she used her cane like it was her third leg and quickly disappeared from our field view.
“I think she’s a martial artist.” Xiao Qin said quietly from behind, “But I’ve never heard of such an incredible old granny in Dong Shan city, I couldn’t even see her movements…”
So she’s an old female artist who came to sight-see in Dong Shan city? I can’t believe she doesn’t have someone accompanying her at her age, and is there even anything fun to do here? Maybe she came to have a match with Xiao Qin’s grandfather?
“This old granny is so strange…” Ai Mi held her chin and she had a look of confusion.
“I can’t believe she didn’t ask for money when she had such a good opportunity. I was planning to give her however much she wanted as long as it was a reasonable amount…”
Since the old granny was used as a tool by Ai Mi to stall 004 and 005, Ai Mi wanted to reward the granny as she was able to successfully eat chips.
Ai Mi laughed after a while.
“It’s probably because she’s old and senile. Whatever. I can’t believe I thought she would still have the same reasoning abilities as a young person.”
“Don’t discriminate against the elderly.” I felt like the old granny had great connections, “How does that saying go, oh right, ‘the elderly were all once children, but children don’t necessarily become the elderly’ …”
“It basically means you can die at any time.” Xiao Qin added an unnecessary explanation.
“Tsk, don’t try to use that to scare me. I don’t even want to live til her age. If I had her wrinkly walnut skin, I would have already put my head into a microwave oven and killed myself.”
It felt like Ai Mi had more wrong ideologies than Xiao Qin. It’s all because of Ai ShuQiao.
That’s why I have to also use my sister discipline plan on Ai Mi, but I didn’t have a suitable reward to interest her yet.
After 004 and 005 took Ai Mi away, Xiao Qin and I also returned home. We rested a bit and then began to make dinner.
The prepped meals from the supermarket were very easy to cook, for example the stir-fried beef that already had all the necessary spices. Xiao Qin said she wanted to practice, so she didn’t let me into the kitchen so she could cook it herself.
“I want to show off in front of Uncle Ye~~~ Make sure to tell Uncle Ye later that it was me who made these dishes alone, okay?”
Xiao Qin pleaded with an apron on.
I nodded: “Since you insist, I’ll let you do it alone. I’ll just cook the rice.”
“I’ll make the rice too.” Xiao Qin refused to let me do any work, and then her tone softened:
“As long as Ye Lin classmate counts cooking as a good deed and gives me one and a half stars or something…”
So she was still thinking about the stars. Xiao Qin was like a video game addict who refused to log off to keep farming exp.
“Then I’ll give you one silver star as an exception. It’s not going to happen next time since I could also cook the prepped meals.”
“(^__^) Hehe…” Xiao Qin, who got another star, began to cook happily in the kitchen. Sometimes, she would use too much force and cause oil to splash out, making her scream when it hits her.
In order to welcome Auntie Ren to our house for dinner, I wanted to wait until the meal was cooked to call my dad and tell him to also bring Auntie Ren.
Once Auntie Ren hears her daughter is already here and dinner was cooked, there was no reason for her to refuse.
However, plans don’t always go as planned. I sent my dad a text and told him to bring Auntie Ren for dinner, but he never replied.
After about 10 minutes, I was fed up of waiting. I was about to call my dad, but Xiao Qin received a call from her mother.
Auntie Ren told Xiao Qin that she had met a friend she hadn’t seen in a long time after the parent-teacher meeting today, and that she was going to catch up with her. She said she might not come home tonight, and told Xiao Qin to make herself some dinner and go to bed early.
Before Xiao Qin finished her call, I received a call from my dad. The first thing he said was:
“Xiao Lin, I can’t come home today. I met a friend I haven’t seen in a long time and we’re planning to go out drinking…”
Liar, you two probably went to a hotel! What happened at the parent-teacher meeting where it would make the two of you immediately want to get a room after leaving school?
