Chapter 50-1
"Myles, this is the Holy See's headquarters. Can you handle the consequences of attacking here?" The twelve Protagonists gathered together, facing Myles. Despite having faced him before, some were familiar with him, yet Myles had always shown restraint and never risked attacking them.
"The Holy See's headquarters?" Myles sneered.
"In the midst of such chaos on this battlefield, who cares about the deaths of a few insignificant characters? Do you really think anyone will notice you?" Myles's words made the twelve Protagonists realize the gravity of their situation. Despite being in the Holy See's headquarters, they were on the verge of despair.
In the current chaotic battlefield, death was nothing out of the ordinary. Even higher-status nobles were at risk of being casualties if inadvertently affected. Deaths in such circumstances would likely go unnoticed, especially with the appearance of a Demon God. Even the deaths of Dukes, Holy Levels, or even Demi Gods wouldn't raise eyebrows.
After all, it was a Demon God! Even if suppressed by the laws of the World of the Gods, it is easy to exert the combat powe of a Pseudo God.
The Crescent Moon Kingdom lacked Pseudo God Level strength, and Demi Gods could still exist on the Continent of the Gods. Pseudo Gods were almost divine, and once they reached that level, they couldn't stay on the Continent of the Gods for too long.
A Demon God's arrival typically required the intervention of a Holy Son or Holy Maiden capable of bearing Pseudo God Level power. Otherwise, it often required the direct arrival of a God or a substantial force of Demi God Level angels to repel.
However, summoning such forces took time. Especially after the recent blessings performed by the Crescent Moon Goddess, the time required for these reinforcements was beyond their reach. Now, the Long Nail Demon God was exploiting this time gap!
Upon realizing this, the faces of the twelve Protagonists changed. They never expected the situation to develop in such a manner, nor did they anticipate that Myles would take advantage of this opportunity to kill them.
Though they were Protagonists, their status within the Crescent Moon Kingdom was relatively low, and their deaths amidst the chaos might go unnoticed. Moreover, even higher-ranking nobles and authorities risked death if inadvertently caught in the crossfire. With a Demon God on the loose, the deaths of a few Dukes or Holy Levels might not raise any suspicions.
The twelve Protagonists were in shock, and Myles, observing their reactions, reveled in his achievement. In truth, he wanted to tell them that he orchestrated this chaos in the capital. Under his manipulation, the entire Crescent Moon Kingdom plunged into disorder, and everything unfolded in his favor. Myles felt like a puppet master, orchestrating every move, with everyone playing their roles as pawns in his grand design.
However, Myles restrained himself. Revealing too much risked increasing his own peril. He relished the feeling of controlling the situation and all the players within it. In his eyes, everyone was a pawn, and he reveled in the role of the puppeteer.
The chaos unfolding, the Holy See, the Demon God everything was under his manipulation. Yet, the risk of revealing his hand was too great, so Myles chose to remain silent.
"Are you so sure you can kill us?" Chu Wu, the Protagonist with the bronze ring, spoke in a determined tone. Over the past few days, the legendary soul within his ring had grown stronger, providing him with temporary access to legendary power. This newfound strength was his greatest confidence.
"That's right, you are taking action in the Holy Level domain. Do you think this Holy Level doesn't exist?" said a protagonist who had just arrived in the royal capital.
"Hehe, then think about it. Why would I take action in this Holy Level domain?"
"Oh no, Myles's family is a Holy Level family. Does that mean he used this Holy Level to attack us directly? We're done for!" one of the Protagonists exclaimed in despair. Other Protagonists who weren't present at the scene were confused and asked for updates in their group chat, but those present were too occupied to respond.
At that moment, the situation took another turn as hundreds of demons suddenly charged into the Holy Level domain. Following closely behind them was a shadowy figure. As soon as this figure entered, the Holy Level domain sealed completely. With a simple movement of the figure's hand, the hundreds of demons were instantly obliterated.
"Holy Level!" exclaimed Chu Wu, the Protagonist, as his face changed.
The incoming figure was undeniably a Holy Level, and a careful one at that. Rather than entering immediately, the Holy Level intentionally let hundreds of demons in first to avoid arousing suspicion from outside.
It became clear why Myles didn't act immediately he was buying time. Chu Wu suddenly regretted not taking the chance to confront Myles earlier with the power of his legendary soul. However, regrets were useless now.
"Are you regretting for not killing me earlier?" Myles taunted, seemingly reading Chu Wu's thoughts.
The feeling of defeat overwhelmed Chu Wu. The Holy Level figure wasted no time on words. After annihilating hundreds of demons, the Holy Level made its move.
"Senior, save me!" Chu Wu could only rely on his legendary soul. Even though it was his trump card, facing a Holy Level was daunting. However, before the legendary soul's attack could land, the Holy Level effortlessly shattered it.
The figure then immobilized Chu Wu, showcasing the immense gap between the legendary soul and the Holy Level, especially within the Holy Level's domain. In this space, the Holy Level stood as a God-like presence compared to a non-Holy Level entity.
Witnessing the legendary soul being suppressed, all the Protagonists felt a sense of despair. One of the Protagonists, aware of his own trump card, was willing to risk everything. However, the Holy Level made its move, intending to incapacitate the twelve Protagonists and hand them over to Myles and other Silver Level villains.
As the Holy Level prepared for its next move, it sensed something and turned its attention towards a particular direction. There, a figure appeared, clapping hands.
"Clap, clap, clap."
The applause echoed abruptly, catching the attention of all Protagonists, Myles, and even the Holy Level. The twelve Protagonists were left dumbfounded as they recognized the newcomer it was none other than Count Su Mo, also known as the Count of Moshi Territory!
"Bravo!" Su Mo's voice resonated.
"Count of the Moshi Territory!" Myles hadn't anticipated Su Mo's arrival in the closed Holy Level domain. Bewildered by Su Mo's appearance, he didn't bother to contemplate how Su Mo managed to breach the fully enclosed Holy Level domain.
Even the Holy Level from Myles's family was taken aback by Su Mo's presence. The Holy Level, an elder of advanced age and Myles's uncle, the younger brother of the Marquis of the Myles family, spoke up, "How did you get in?"
The Holy Level's domain was completely sealed. In a completely sealed environment, this became a secluded little world. Unless forcefully broken through, entry was impossible.
However, Su Mo managed to come in. Not only did he enter, but he did so silently! Such a Su Mo, though not emanating a strong aura, made the Holy Level extremely vigilant, as if facing a formidable adversary. It could be said that the Holy Level treated him as a major threat!
