I Have a Sword

Chapter 1094: Wherever My Gaze Falls, There Is Only My Order

Soon, Ye Guan found Yang Yian on the path leading down the mountain. She was running away while wiping her tears away. She was trembling with each sob, clearly heartbroken.

Ye Guan walked up in front of her.

Yang Yian glared at him. "What do you want?"

"I'm sorry," said Ye Guan.

Yang Yian looked away and said, "You don't need to apologize. I did steal that sword, after all."

Feeling wronged, tears flowed down her eyes as if they were broken dams.

Seeing that, Ye Guan hurriedly said, "I'm sorry, it's my fault. You can hit me if you want."

Yang Yian silently cried.

Ye Guan knew that she was really hurt, and he deeply regretted his words.

How come he had said something so stupid?

Seeing her tears flowing endlessly, Ye Guan sighed quietly to himself. How come he was so foolish?

Ye Guan drew the sword that she gave to him. After inspecting it, he smiled and said, "I really like this sword."

Yang Yian lowered her head in silence.

"It's my fault. I shouldn't have doubted you. I promise it won't happen again," Ye Guan said.

Yang Yian looked up at him, revealing her face covered in tears.

Ye Guan gently wiped away her tears and said, "I promise."

Yang Yian stared at him. "If I ever want to kill you in the future, would you also believe me?"

Ye Guan laughed. "Yes."

"Really?"

"Really."

"Then I forgive you."

"Does this sword have a name?"

"No."

"Why don't you give it a name then?"

"I am not well read, so I'm not good with names. You pick one."

Ye Guan looked at the sword, deep in thought.

Yang Yian suddenly grew a little nervous and asked, "Will you always use it?"

Looking at the hopeful light in her eyes, Ye Guan promised, "I will."

Yang Yian grinned and said, "Then you must give it a very, very mighty name. After all, you will become the greatest swordsman in the world, so the sword's name has to sound really impressive." řÃŊôʙЕ𐌔

"All right!" Ye Guan laughed heartily. He then glanced at the sword in his hand and fell into deep contemplation before saying, "Let's call it Order."

Yang Yian blinked. "Order?"

"Whenever I wield Order and wherever I look, there is only my order."

The sword in his hand shook fiercely.

Witnessing the sword's reaction, Yang Yian was even happier than Ye Guan.

She could tell that he truly liked the sword.

"Do you want to go fly on a sword?" asked Ye Guan.

"Now?" Yang Yian asked meekly.

"Are you afraid?"

Yang Yian shook her head, but she quickly nodded.

"Hahaha!" Ye Guan laughed heartily and said, "Don't be afraid; I'll be with you."

"Okay," Yang Yian said, nodding eagerly.

Ye Guan concentrated, and the Sword of Order in his hand transformed into a giant sword that fell to the ground. He hopped onto it and extended his hand to Yang Yian.

Yang Yian took his hand and then jumped onto the back of the sword.

Ye Guan smiled and said, "Hold on tight."

Yang Yian hesitated for a moment before wrapping her arms around Ye Guan's waist. She was a bit nervous.

"And lift off," Ye Guan remarked.

The sword transformed into a beam of sword light that shot straight into the sky.

Yang Yian immediately turned pale with fear. She held tightly onto him and squeezed her eyes shut, not daring to open them.

As they soared into the sky, the Sword Sect and the surrounding mountains rapidly shrank in size before their eyes. Yang Yian, her eyes tightly shut, felt her heart race.

Once they reached the clouds, Ye Guan said, "You can open your eyes now."

The sword stopped in midair.

Upon hearing his words, Yang Yian cautiously opened one eye. When she saw the view below, she was startled and quickly shut her eyes again.

Ye Guan comforted her, "Don't be afraid."

Yang Yian shook her head rapidly. "I'm not!"

Despite saying that, her grip around Ye Guan's waist became tighter.

Ye Guan shook his head and smiled gently. "There's no need to be afraid. I'm here."

Yang Yian continued to shake her head. She was terrified.

"You can't keep your eyes closed forever, can you?" Ye Guan said. Then, he gently grabbed her hands and said, "It's okay. I'm here."

Yang Yian hesitated for a moment and then slowly opened her eyes. When she saw the mountains down below, she felt dizzy and lightheaded. Instinctively, she shut her eyes again—she was afraid of heights!

"Come on, slowly, it's okay," Ye Guan said gently.

With his encouragement, Yang Yian opened her eyes again. Although she was still a bit scared, she no longer closed her eyes again.

Ye Guan smiled slightly. "Let's go!"

The sword beneath him flew forward, but he controlled its speed carefully. If it went too fast, Yang Yian would get scared again.

The flying sword moved slowly through the clouds, and now, she was not as afraid as earlier. She looked down at the vast mountain range below, and at that moment, she realized that the Sword Sect looked extremely small.

Yang Yian was thrilled.

"Let's go higher," Ye Guan suggested. With that, he made the sword fly upward. The sword passed through the clouds, and they reached a clear expanse where they could see the bright, full moon without any obstructions.

Yang Yian looked at the moon and exclaimed, "Wow! It's so big!"

"Hahaha," Ye Guan laughed.

Yang Yian held tightly onto him and looked around curiously with clear excitement on her face.

Moments later, they both sat down on the sword.

Yang Yian's feet were swaying; she felt quite comfortable now.

Ye Guan took out an ancient-looking book and smiled. "How about we read here?"

Yang Yian nodded eagerly. "Sure."

Ye Guan opened the book, turned to a page, and began to read aloud, "To do good but seek to exalt oneself above others, to show kindness but seek fame and favors, to pursue knowledge with the intent to shock the world, to cultivate discipline with the aim to stand out as extraordinary…

"these are all like spears and shields within good intentions, like thorns along the path of reason. They are the easiest distractions and the hardest to rid oneself of. One must cleanse away the impurities and cut off the buds of these desires before one can see the true nature beneath…"

Yang Yian asked, "What does that mean?"

Ye Guan explained, "When you do good deeds but think about using it as a way to elevate yourself above others; when you do someone a favor but expect something in return; when you perform acts of virtue but aim to gain recognition for it; and when you cultivate integrity but only seek to stand out as unique…

"You are entertaining the obstacles on the path of righteousness. These obstacles are incredibly hard to rid oneself of, as they come to us naturally as human beings.

"It's like cultivation. The heart must be pure, and the mind must be clear. Only then can you see your true self and understand your true nature. Do you understand?"

Yang Yian nodded, looking doubtful.

Ye Guan smiled and continued to teach her. She listened attentively, occasionally asking questions.

There was a warm and peaceful air around the two as they sat on Order beneath the moonlight. They stayed above the clouds until late at night. When they returned, Manager Wu appeared in front of them.

Ye Guan looked at him and asked, "Who are you?"

Manager Wu smiled faintly and replied, "Greetings, Young Lord Ye. My name is Wu Hui, and I am the Manager of the Task Hall."

Manager Wu took out a box and walked over to Yang Yian.

The box contained a familiar necklace inside.

Yang Yian was a little confused. "Manager Wu…"

Wu Hui smiled. Then, he took out a storage ring and handed it to her. "Young lady, here's the thing…"

He then told Yang Yian that someone had been taking advantage of her.

When Ye Guan heard that Yang Yian had pawned the only necklace her mother had left behind for her in order to buy him a sword, his heart felt as if it had been struck by a bolt of lightning. Moments later, deep regret washed over him.

Manager Wu took out a bottle of medicinal pills and handed it to her. "Young lady, these are medicinal pills. It should help with your injuries…"

"Injuries?" Ye Guan looked at her, surprised. "You're hurt?"

"No, no," Yang Yian said and attempted to cover her back.

Ye Guan walked behind her, and upon seeing a bloodstain on her back, his expression immediately fell. He quickly accepted the medicinal pills and said, "Thank you, Manager Wu."

Manager Wu smiled and said, "It's nothing. Young Master Ye, please help this young lady with her injuries. Tomorrow is the Inner Sect Martial Contest, and I wish you the best of luck."

Ye Guan cupped his hands. "Thank you."

Manager Wu nodded politely and left.

Ye Guan hurriedly pulled Yang Yian into a room. He asked her to lie down and was about to tear her clothes apart to treat her wounds when she sat up and stammered, "N-no need…"

Ye Guan was briefly taken aback, and then he understood what she was thinking and glared at her. "What nonsense are you imagining? Lie down, now."

Yang Yian hesitated for a moment before obediently laying down on the bed with her back facing Ye Guan.

Ye Guan gently ripped the back of her clothes and saw the deep wounds hidden beneath. He felt a sharp pain in his chest at the sight. Taking a deep breath to calm himself down, he left to fetch a basin of clean water.

When he returned, he was carrying with him a clean towel, and he began cleaning her wound. Ye Guan's hand trembled slightly upon seeing her serious wounds.

Yang Yian inhaled sharply.

"Does it hurt?" Ye Guan asked.

Yang Yian shook her head, forcing a smile. "Not really."

"Stop acting tough," Ye Guan retorted.

Yang Yian smiled softly. "When I was a beggar, I used to get into fights. There was even this time when I broke my hand! This is nothing."

Ye Guan fell silent.

"I'm not afraid of pain. I'm only afraid of hunger. I never really wanted to steal, but if I hadn't resorted to stealing, I would have starved a long time ago. Going hungry is… unbearable."
