Chapter 203: That Which Should Have Been A Protagonist’s Ability
Compass Carburettor, in his Haggon Form, arrived before a wall in the large cave, holding a bag in one hand and a severed arm in the other. Using the severed arm, he had drawn a large circle around him, preventing the insects from closing in on him while he was observing his surroundings.
Closing his eyes, he sensed the location of Krager through his Spydragon first, then activated his Info Scanner to confirm the other party's precise location.
Moreover, through the information transmitted telepathically by the cobra, he was aware of the general gist of things, finding it laughably funny. First was the fact that the cobra talked like an excited five-year-old girl, chirpily stating everything with a nature of innocence.
It was odd coming from a cobra, a venomous snake that hunted others for its meals, that too an adult one. After Bestowing upon it the Skill of Intelligence, it was able to understand many things and convey them in a manner that was easy for him to understand.
The Skill of Intelligence mysterious worked in his favour. Adding onto the base capabilities given by Secret Society to its members, they complemented each other to give generous results.
The second funny thing was Krager, a System Host that…actually lost a battle. A System Host, no matter how dangerous a situation was or how overpowered an enemy was, never truly suffered a loss.
Even if they faced a setback, that was just a means to fuel a stronger comeback. But now, Krager had actually lost, all for one reason: He dared to go against Rhizen.
Upon reaching this line of thought, Compass Carburettor laughed, thinking, 'I wonder how he was killed the previous times? Rhizen is someone that I dare not make an enemy of.'
Shaking his head, he focused, punching at the wall once, causing a large dent. Even though the Haggon's arm bones broke in the process, they regenerated immediately after as Compass Carburettor repeatedly punched without holding back.
This was the way a Haggon fought, always unleashing attacks that went beyond what its body could handle. Thanks to its regeneration, it recovered from the damage quickly. And, this allowed it to unleash explosive force.
A six-metre-tall giant with a tremendously tough physique, with compressed muscles and terrifyingly tough skin. And, a punch unleashed with enough power to destroy its own arm, the might unleashed was unimaginable.
The more than three-metre-thick cave wall broke down after ten punches as Compass Carburettor peeked out, gazing at the side of Mount Craire. The reason he had only exited now was for one reason, and that was to target his opponent.
The cobra constantly relayed the news to him, allowing him to prepare as he expended 100 Darlac and returned to his human—Spirit—Form.
He watched from far away, gazing at two figures running after one another. The first was a mongoose that was fleeing for its life, having suffered some injuries. And, chasing after it while unleashing a maddened cry was a bird, one that was a mix between an eagle and a vulture.
Both of them had a horn growing on their foreheads.
The sequence of events had played out like this…
At the peak of Mount Craire existed three parties. The first of them was the attacker, the mongoose that seemed the strongest of the three parties. The second was Krager, having lost all his Beast Forms, relying upon his human form to fight.
The final party was the birds, two of them in fact. One was fighting against the mongoose by allying with Krager. As for the second bird, it remained in the thicket of trees, protecting the egg it had laid.
This was a mysterious egg, in that it continued to grow in size as time passed, sucking the essence from the bird that protected it. Moreover, its size had already surpassed the bird that had birthed it, even though it hadn't hatched it.
So, it was apparent that a rather special entity, the first of its kind was being birthed here. And, to hunt it came the mongoose.
As Krager and the father bird allied to fight the mongoose, the situation on Mount Craire slowly changed. More than twenty mongooses made an appearance, with blood leaking out of their mouths.
With some bits of clothes in their mouths, it was apparent that they had a feast of the people that trekked Mount Craire, as Rhizen had noticed by the scent of blood in the air.
None of the twenty mongooses had a horn growing on their heads, but there was a small bump on them, signifying that it was only time before they too grew a horn. After killing and feasting upon all the humans on Mount Craire, they headed towards the peak.
And upon their arrival, the one-horned mongoose commanded them to attack Krager, the most troublesome of them all that had hindered it all along.
A precarious battle ensued forth as Krager was at a disadvantage, unable to face so many fierce predators all of a sudden. Before he noticed it, he was relying upon his healing ability to constantly regenerate his wounds as he was riddled with them continuously.
He somehow managed to kill a mongoose and ate it while in battle, disregarding his wounds for a moment before turning into a mongoose himself. This way, he wished to use the superior agility and reflexes of a mongoose to turn the tides.
But despite that, he was unable to win. And before long, he had expended all his contribution points, barely managing to kill three mongooses. With that, he decided to retreat, running down the mountain as all the mongooses gave chase.
The one-horned mongoose was capable of dealing with the birds. Moreover, it wished to eat the egg by itself, unwilling to share the benefits that it would obtain by devouring it.
With Krager fleeing towards the foot of the mountain, it had no enemies, quickly killing the father bird, biting its neck as the mongoose ate it a little to recover some energy.
At this time, the mother bird let out a wailing chirp before collapsing to the ground, losing all signs of life. Its body looked like a dried husk, having sacrificed all its vitality to complete the egg's nurturing process.
Right as the mongoose leaped upon the egg, it frowned while mid-air, watching the eggshell shatter to unleash a powerful gust of wind that threw it backward.
