Chapter 434: System Vs Protag (part 6)

“Are you seriously believing that uncle’s words?” Ranze glared at Grisha, “He could only be saying that to manipulate you.”

“No, that’s not a possibility. He’s true to his words.” Grisha said, “If his memories are manipulated, it would reduce his effectiveness against Compass Carburettor. His System wouldn’t have done something like that.”

“Besides…” She sighed, stating in all seriousness while staring at Warktor’s back, “It’s pretty much impossible to manipulate his memories. He’ll know the inconsistencies right away. He’s that amazing of an individual.”

“Dammit! So, what are you saying in the end? I won’t let you off if Xuer is injured.” Ranze snorted, expressing his killing intent.

“Xuer is wearing the Artifact I refined for her.” Grisha stated plainly, “If she’s about to die, I’ll be alerted. I can teleport to her and save her.”

“So, shut your trap and don’t make the situation worse.” She glared at him in seriousness, “You shouldn’t underestimate Sir Warktor and Chenger.”

Grisha recalled the time during her previous loops when she had met Warktor, recalling the figure she had interacted with seldomly.

Even if she hadn’t met him in many loops, she had indeed heard of his name in those loops, or pretty much all the loops.

Warktor had become a peak powerhouse in pretty much all the loops. Unlike her that became the strongest in one loop, and one of the strongest in a couple of other loops, he was a consistent powerhouse.

In all his loops combined, he had reached the Sixth Stage at the very least. He was at the Seventh Stage in pretty much every other loop, even reaching the Eighth Stage in a rare few loops.

He was pretty much one of the strongest the Apocalypse World had to offer. Moreover, he was someone with a neutral disposition, someone that people came to follow gradually.

And over time, he had created one of the biggest settlements in the apocalyptic world.

“I had been expecting for the Systems to pull out someone like him, but I didn’t think they would be able to successfully make him heed their orders.” Grisha sighed in the end.

She then gazed at Chenger, “Chenger…”

No words were exchanged between the two as the two ladies silently glared at one another. Of course, Chenger didn’t try to enter the Imperial Treasury. Even though she glared at Warktor, she didn’t go against him.

Of course, as Rhizen’s companion, she had met with Warktor in most of the loops, aware of his personality.

He wasn’t the type to follow orders, an eccentric man that only cared about his family. And, unlike Grisha, she was aware of the reason Warktor had erected the strongest settlements of the Apocalyptic World time after time.

It was so that his prodigal son didn’t have to move about.

That was all.

The reason the strongest of settlements with by far the best condition humanity had to offer had been established just because Warktor’s useless son didn’t wish to fight for his life. That’s all.

His son was a gaming addict. And for that sole reason, once the settlement had been created, programmers and the necessary staff were put together to create an RPG that the residents could play.

The method in which Warktor managed things ensured the settlement had very few problems to worry about. So, none even cared about the fact that he had a lazy son that didn’t contribute to anything.

After all, this lazy son was just a shut-in that didn’t exercise his father’s power to boss around.

All in all, for most of the legendary feats that Warktor had created in the Apocalypse World, the underlying reason was just something mundane that his family desired or that he wished to give to his family.

One could say he had spoiled them rotten. But it was also a fact that he created such an environment where they wouldn’t have to worry about being spoilt, even in an apocalyptic world.

“But, that doesn’t mean I won’t deal with the two of you.” Chenger said slowly, beginning to walk towards Grisha and Ranze, “I don’t like the fact that you’re helping Compass Carburettor, Grisha. But, you’ve chosen your side. So, you’ll have to face the consequences.”

“What do you know about this girl?” Ranze frowned, whispering to Grisha, “I can feel that she’s by far the strongest among everyone here.”

“She’s slow on the uptake, somewhat dumb, but make no mistake, she’s good at fighting, one of the best my world has to offer.” Grisha said in all seriousness, thinking, ‘And now that she recalls all 48 loops, that wealth of experience takes care of her flaw to a great extent. She has suffered through countless situations, and that has taught her a lot of things.’

‘Chenger has been a late bloomer in the mental department, but it’ll be hard to win in a fight against her.’ Grisha sighed, ‘My power is a bad match for her.’

Heaven Martial Spirit—Vapour Fan!

That was Chenger’s power. And it was troublesome in that it was versatile in nature, especially against Grisha and Ranze who mostly focused on concentrated attacks.

“Attack from afar. Don’t get near her.” Grisha said to Ranze, grabbing hold of his hand as the two of them teleported away.

At the same time, her Sect members too broke off from the battle and began to retreat in order.

There was a pile of bodies left in their wake, all of which were from Chenger’s side.

Chenger frowned in response, squinting as she glared at the retreating troops, suddenly causing the world around her to dim.

And immediately after, mysterious pillars appeared atop the heads of everyone.

Luck Pillars!

Chenger was able to observe the size and quality of everyone’s Luck. This was a power she obtained from the Destiny Luck System, something that was achieved by manipulating her memories.

It caused her to develop heightened senses that were geared to sensing the luck of everyone. And, her body’s hormones fluctuated accordingly, causing her to hallucinate. And this hallucination, based on the information she perceived about her opponents, caused mysterious constructs to form in the hallucination.

And, it was also affected by the modified memories that acted like Skills.

Chenger gazed at the Mysterious Sect members, muttering in anger, “The Luck of every single bastard is too damn high. It’s like each one of them has the potential to become a Sect Master in the Gaider Realm.”
