Chapter 428: It Hurts!

Chapter 428: It Hurts!

“Hazen’s messenger said that Velcorn is five kilometres away from us. What do you say?” Xuer gazed at Bunuela, “Do you want to see what he’s capable of?”

“Yes.” Bunuela nodded, “Whether or not these Evil Spirits pose danger to the Gaider Realm, I’ll judge them through my own eyes.”

“That’s great.” Xuer nodded as the duo finished replenishing their Origin Essence, gathered their belongings, double-checked everything, and began to move in the respective direction.

But, they had only walked for ten minutes, entering the nearby forest before they heard the rustling of leaves.

“Move!” Suddenly, a youth shouted before exiting the thicket of trees, his expression brimming with anger and murderous intent as he looked at the figures of Xuer and Bunuela through the corner of his eye before running past them.

“Isn’t that…?” It took a second for Xuer before she realised his identity, “Isn’t he Velcorn?”

“Quick! He’s running this way! Don’t let that bastard escape.” There was a roar before more than a hundred cultivators rushed after.

“Eh? This girl…” Bunuela suddenly noticed something amiss as she grabbed hold of a lady and pulled her to the side, “What the heck are you doing here, Bela?”

“Cousin?” The lady with fiery red hair was surprised as she looked at Bunuela, saying in relief, “Thank goodness you’re here, cousin. Quick, we have to go after that Evil Spirit.”

“Wait, why are all of you chasing after him instead of fighting for the treasures?” Bunuela asked in surprise.

“It seems you haven’t heard about it yet, cousin.” Bela spoke in concern, “We were still suspicious about the details in the scroll. But once we tried to capture Velcorn, everything was confirmed. He indeed is the World Decaying Evil Spirit.”

“What do you mean?” Bunuela frowned.

“A total of 17 experts were killed by him in two days.” Bela sighed, “And, two powerhouses sustained injuries as a result of chasing after him. As for the number of Origin Refinement Stage cultivators killed by him…we’ve lost count. And all of this happened in the past four days.”

“All this happened recently?” Xuer gritted her teeth, “How is this possible? He’s only at the Origin Refinement Stage like us.”

“Even if they are at the same power as you, they’re bound to be stronger. You’ll have to be a powerhouse while they are an ant for you to have a chance at killing them. Even that’s just a mere chance, nothing else.” Xuer recalled the words uttered by Compass Carburettor long ago, scowling in response.

“I refused to believe he’s that powerful.” Bunuela retorted, “No matter what I think, this doesn’t seem possible at all.”

“Yes, I feel the same myself.” Bela said, “But our thoughts don’t matter. This is indeed what has happened. Everyone that entered the Secret Realm after you said the same. Our Elders have dispatched all of us just to deal with Velcorn and other Evil Spirits that might have entered here.”

“I see, that makes sense.” Bunuela nodded. After all, Bela wasn’t supposed to enter the Folkan Secret Realm. She was still in the Clan when Bunuela arrived at the entrance a couple of days ago with her grandfather.

“And…” Bela sighed, “Somehow, Velcorn was able to evade an attack from grandfather. So, we’ll have to ensure he doesn’t escape no matter what. We must first trap him.”

“He survived grandfather’s attack?” Bunuela was shocked.

Who was her grandfather? He was the strongest man in the Gaider Realm, a legendary powerhouse. If Velcorn even managed to evade an attack from such a being…

“He won’t survive.” Bunuela gritted her teeth in anger, gazing at Xuer, “I don’t care if he’s an Evil Spirit or not. Just for the fact that he made my grandfather lose face, I won’t allow him to live.”

“Let’s not waste any time then.” Xuer said, letting out an Ice Crane Puppet from her storage bracelet, patting it back, “Let’s go!”

Bunuela climbed aboard immediately, motioning for Bela to follow suit.

“She is…?” Bela asked in surprise at such a mystical puppet before her, wondering how something like this was possible. It was because Xuer wasn’t in the Martial Origin Stage yet.

“She’s Xuer from the Giant Whale Sect,” Bunuela replied.

Bela nodded in understanding, thinking that for a Heaven Martial Spirit cultivator, this was possible. In their current generation, there were only two Heaven Martial Spirit cultivators in the Gaider Realm.

They were Bunuela and Xuer. And hence, pretty much everyone knew about Xuer.

Once all three sat on the Ice Crane Puppet’s back, Xuer controlled it, making it take off to the skies easily.

“It flies!” Bela exclaimed in shock.

The Ice Crane Puppet flew faster as Xuer observed the ground, observing the crowd of cultivators running before them, soon crossing them as she noticed the figure of Velcorn running at the front.

Suddenly, Velcorn slammed a tree that he ran past, eliciting mournful cries from within. A cultivator had been hiding within its trunk in order to ambush him.

But, Velcorn’s attack reached him first, causing his body to rapidly dissolve into a putrid puddle while his attack mysteriously missed its target, slamming into a tree farther away, shattering its trunk.

“You saw that, right?” Bunuela muttered seriously.

“Yes…” Xuer nodded nervously, feeling as if things were surreal, “The attack actually curved around Velcorn. He’s not using any spatial abilities. So, how is this possible?”

“Stay your hand, Xuer. Let me attack him first.” Bunuela said, condensing a small firebird on her palms that flapped its wings and sped towards Velcorn, “Your attacks would cancel mine, so don’t attack while I’m targeting him.”

“Alright.” Xuer nodded, forcibly calming herself down as she observed the firebird screeching through the air as it evaded all obstacles along its path, rapidly closing in on Velcorn.

Velcorn felt the heat radiating from it first, turning around to see the firebird approaching him rapidly. He flicked his hand, unleashing a sphere of putrid liquid that expanded itself like a net, casting itself over the firebird.

“Heh!” Bunuela snorted, waving her hands as the firebird swerved suddenly, evading the putrid liquid before unleashing a burst of fire from its back, using the spike in propulsion to slam into Velcorn.

Velcorn condensed a barrier as the firebird slammed into it, bursting into a sea of flames. Suddenly, resounding throughout the region were his screams.

“It hurrrtttssss!”
