Chapter 31
Zhong Jiancheng, the general manager of Jiangling District’s Shentong Express Delivery, was not willing to change his general agent at the School for Finance and Economics for the time being. However, he did propose a condition of a hundred packages a day.
Chen Hansheng did not want to simply achieve that rate. He wanted to be able to voice his opinions and contribute in a different way. He needed to formulate his ideas and find a way to get them across.
When military training had officially ended, various clubs on campus started recruiting new members. However, there were more important things to do in the class. Chen Hansheng was in discussion with Hu Linyu. “Recently, I’ve been thinking about running for the students’ union president. So, please bear with me because our workload will increase.”
Hu Linyu was a little confused. “Aren’t you going to do business in the future? Why are you going after this now?”
Chen Hansheng explained seriously to Hu Linyu. “Business requires an all-rounded person. I don’t have money or resources. If I want to appeal to others, I will have to strengthen my weaknesses. Then, it will be easier for me to appeal to and convince others.”
“But I also want to join the students’ union,” said Hu Linyu unhappily.
“Don’t mess around. Just focus on your classwork. When I become the president of the students’ union, I’ll recruit you and give you a good position.”
After Chen Hansheng said that, he left. Hu Linyu was still dissatisfied but there was nothing she could do at this point.
Each department at the university had its own students’ union, and each students’ union had different committees to handle various aspects of the union’s responsibilities. Hansheng was most interested in the external relations committee in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences’ students’ union since it best suited his interest and would be more beneficial for his future business ventures.
Though the School of Finance and Economics was not on par with Donghai University, it still had quite a student population, especially in Hansheng’s department. Thus, by the time Chen Hansheng arrived at the department’s students’ union building in the afternoon, there were already many freshmen waiting in line outside the interview rooms.
He walked over to the external relations committee’s interview room and didn’t expect to see his classmates there, and they were all girls. His fellow townsman, Tan Min, was also there. When they saw Chen Hansheng, they greeted him in surprise.
“Class President, are you going to join the students’ union too?”
“Yes, to represent Public Administration Class 2,” said Chen Hansheng with a smile.
A few girls laughed. After discussing with each other, they prepared to leave. “Class President, we will join other committees, then. We can’t have too many of us in one. We have to divide and conquer.”
Chen Hansheng knew that they wanted to reduce the competition. He smiled and waved his hand as they left. “Okay, don’t buy breakfast tomorrow morning. It’s my treat.”
Before Tan Min left, she even wished Chen Hansheng luck. “Aim for Assistant Officer.”
At this moment, a junior or senior happened to pass by. When he heard Tan Min’s words, he turned to look at Chen Hansheng and walked into the interview room with a sneer.
The entire interview room of the outreach section was filled with exclamations.
This freshman had provoked the deputy officer. What an eye-opening thing to witness.
Qi Wei and Yao Qingguo were confused and realized that today was probably a bad day. First, Zhou Xiao had set rules for the freshmen for no reason. Then, they found out that the freshman was a thorny person who would immediately retaliate.
Chen Hansheng would not take the deputy officer’s treatment of him lying down. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got.
Zhou Xiao had probably never encountered such a situation before. Only then did he suddenly realize that the freshman had unruly and wild features.
Chen Hansheng stared at Zhou Xiao with a malicious gaze. Besides running the students’ union, council members never really knew how to deal with real and direct conflicts such as this. Chen Hansheng’s gaze gave him a chill in his heart.
However, he did not want to lose his dignity, so he mustered up his courage to stand up for himself and said, “The freshmen nowadays are becoming more and more unruly.”
“Student, I’m the head officer of the outreach section, Qi Wei. Please calm down first. If there’s a misunderstanding, we can just talk it out.”
In the end, it was Qi Wei who took the initiative to resolve the situation.
However, once Chen Hansheng’s unbridled temper flared up, no one besides his parents would be able to hold him back. He looked at Qi Wei and said, “I’m quite calm, actually. I just have a few things I’d like to discuss with your deputy, Zhou Xiao.”
After saying that, he walked towards Zhou Xiao. Yao Qingguo was worried that Zhou Xiao would be beaten, so he quickly stood in between them. Chen Hansheng swung his arm and Yao Qingguo was almost flipped over.
“What are you doing?”
Zhou Xiao was starting to feel afraid. Chen Hansheng was a head taller than him and looked quite strong. Most importantly, his fierceness right then was undeniable.
“I can understand if I’ve been disqualified due to my lack of skills or experiences. But just because I’m not a girl? Is the students’ union always so sexist?”
Chen Hansheng had no intention of fighting at all. Hitting someone would only make things more unreasonable and difficult to deal with.
Zhou Xiao hurriedly took a few steps back. Qi Wei mustered up her courage and said, “The external relations department needs to communicate and coordinate with external parties, which is why we do prefer a female to join us.”
“Bullsh*t. All the person needs to do is to get the job done well. What does this have to do with gender?”
Chen Hansheng stared at Zhou Xiao with disdain. “Besides, if you really need a girl, why don’t you f*cking get lost first?”
