How To Raise Your Regressor

Chapter 179 - Bang Boom Swoosh Gah

BANG!

Boom.

SWOOSH!

"Gah!"

With each bang, a head exploded.

With each swoosh, a heart was destroyed.

Every time Neia pulled the trigger of her rifle, she, let's just say, put someone out of their misery.

And every time Samur cast his ice spear spell, he took several lives.

Their methods were in no way complex. One just shot using a sniper rifle while the other used a basic magic spell to conjure simple ice spears.

Yet each of their actions took a human life.

The stifled bang of the silenced rifle and the boom of the heads exploding.

The swoosh of the ice spears moving through the air and the pained groans of the people dying.

Together, they formed a simple, yet an eerie cacophony of death.

"You might actually have some talent with the gun," Samur remarked bemusedly.

Neia had proven herself to be an excellent shot; each of the bullets she fired hit their mark without fail.

Samur had given her those guns on a mere whim. The idea of Neia, a healer, being a gunslinger seemed amusing, after all.

But as it turned out, it had been the correct choice as Neia seemed to have a natural talent for guns.

Samur had once again subconsciously thought way far ahead into the future and given guns to Neia. He had once again displayed his exceptional prediction and critical thinking skills.

Only a genius of his level could achieve such a feat.

?I have no idea what to think of that compliment…? Neia sighed.

Samur was basically saying that she was talented in killing people. As a pure healer who focused on saving lives, being praised for efficiently killing people stifled her heart.

But she had no choice right now.

'Let's go. Lecia should be waiting for us,' Samur's words once again resonated inside her heart.

The dilemma of taking a human life as well as Samur's preposterous proposal of betting on who could kill more had confounded her for a bit, but those words had reminded her of her true purpose; saving Lecia.

According to Samur, Lecia had been kidnapped and was currently imprisoned inside this warehouse. Their job was to save her.

Of course, this situation raised several doubts in her mind.

How did Samur know that Lecia was here? How long had he known?

Why did he choose Neia for this rescue mission?

And even if he had chosen her, why did he disguise it as a practical training session? Why didn't he reveal the truth to her?

Given the state the Guild was in when she left, no one seemed to know that Lecia had been kidnapped. Their nonchalance wasn't something a person who knew their comrade was in danger could display.

That meant Samur had revealed to absolutely no one that Lecia had been abducted, except Neia.

Why? What did he hope to achieve by doing this?

He did say that because this was a rescue mission, it needed to be covert.

But he was operating on the condition that actually wasn't covert, because of which he had chosen Neia and himself for this mission to make the enemy underestimate them and make mistakes.

But in her opinion, the chances of the mission being successful would have considerably increased if Azell and Noelle were the ones handling it.

In fact, this mission would have been more then easy if the New Dawn Guild had attacked with all their might. It wasn't a conjecture on her part; it was a fact.

That's how much she believed in her Guild's strength.

No, she believed in Azell's leadership.

Others might not have noticed it, but Azell seemed particularly obsessed with keeping the people around him safe.

That's why he would safely rescued Lecia no matter the cost.

Yet here they were.

?17 people ahead of you.?

"Thank you."

Of course, even when she was thinking about such things, she hadn't forgotten her job.

Neia seemed to be an expert on multitasking. Nice.

Samur would be so proud of her had he known how many things she was simultaneously handling.

Alas, half of his mind was focused on thinking about new ways to die in this situation (like Neia shooting him in the head) while the other half was thinking whether he should drink Espresso or Cold Coffee when he returned.

He couldn't seem to make up his mind.

The high caffeine content in the espresso would let him go through the day. Cold coffee, on the other hand, would cool him and let him relax.

Hmmm, it was summer right now, and because the kidnappers were fucking assholes, they hadn't installed Air conditioners inside the warehouse, so right now, it was very hot.

Cold coffee is exactly what he needed.

Having made up his mind, Samur moved on to thinking about some other random thing.

Neia, on the other hand, was still pondering over Samur's actions (thank god she didn't know that he was contemplating both suicide and coffee or she would just kill herself).

Anyway, Azell could have saved Lecia, yet only Samur and Neia were here.

Did Samur not trust their capabilities? Or did he trust his own too much?

And now that she thought about it, she never thought that Samur cared much about Lecia. She hadn't even seen them interacting that much.

But then again, it only made sense to rescue his comrade when the latter was in danger, even if they weren't particularly close.

The other possibility was that he cared for everyone around him even if he didn't show it (would you take a look at this dumbass).

If that indeed was the case, it would fit inside her narrative of the mystery called Samur.

But nowadays, she wasn't too sure. Samur was too inconsistent.

"Whew… this leaves only the fifth floor," Samur said.

They had already wiped out the 17 people hiding to ambush him. With this, they had cleared all the floors from the basement till 4th floor.

Surprisingly enough, they had achieved this within 15 minutes. Their speed and efficiency were the stuff of dreams.

They made a great team. When it came to killing people, that is.

The 5th floor was all that was left.

?Yeah…?

Neia decided to push all other thoughts out of her mind for the time being; this was the most crucial stage of their rescue mission. She couldn't afford to let herself be distracted.

"Just in case, has anyone escaped from the roof or something?"

?No.?

"Perfect," Samur smiled.

Time to kill everyone.
