Chapter 77 77. reputation
His subordinates were too stupid!
More accurately there were no strategists.
Xander was prideful, arrogant and many other things but he wasn't a fool.
He knew he had no talent in schemes and strategy and he didn't need to .
Even his fathers didn't excel that much in that regard but like his father had learned an important thing, He didn't need to.
With his standing and background all he needed to do was find and recognise talents. Once he did bring them over to your side and never let them go.
That was the true way of nobility.
Xander then looked at the crowd as a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
"You were all here to hear the plan when Oscar spoke. Now you know what to do, don't waste time and get to work!"
...
The next day
Lucius suddenly sat up in his bed.
'Where am I? How did I get here?'
Lucius's last memory was hazy. All he remembers was speaking to Camilla a bit before his mind suddenly went blank now he was suddenly in his bed
'Shit. Did I pass out?'
The second he realised this Lucius instantly felt embarrassed .
He was there trying to sound cool resisting her that he was all okay and then he suddenly passed out right in front of her
Suddenly Lucius had a growing thought
'Huh? What's the time?'
Looking at the clock Lucius breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately he hadn't overslept but he was definitely cutting it close.
He had to get ready as soon as possible!
…..
Several minutes later a handsome and refreshed Lucius walked outside his room with a slight bounce in his step.
Now he had dealt with Xander everything should be get easier these days now he didn't have to worry about that idiot coming after him.
He had even started to form some cracks in the relationship between Xander and Veronica.
Now he was just like a fisherman with his fighting line.
He just had to wait for the fish to bite the bait and slowly reel it in.
He was heading to the classroom like he usually did but for some reason he felt something off today. All of a sudden people started Lucius didn't even realise that his twisted smile was slowly appearing on his face out of habit.
Fortunately his handsome appearance made his every expression appear somewhat charming or else he would definitely look quite ugly right now.
Unknowingly Lucius walked away from free dorms and entered the school grounds. But as he was travelling he eventually noticed something strange.
He was heading to the classroom like he usually did but for some reason he felt something off today. All of a sudden people started looking at him wherever he went,
"Look, that's him right? The murderer!"
"Shh! Do you want him to deal with you as well? I heard he was part of a gang before he came to Sanctuary ."
"I heard he killed his first person at 8 years old and now it's reached the point where he wouldn't hesitate to kill someone over a slice of white bread."
"So barbaric! This is why we shouldn't have to deal with these wretched commoners!"
The conversation that was happening now was too close to Lucius so he heard everything.
As soon as he heard them he looked over towards them to shiver in shock and quickly look away.
"Tch!"
Lucius just clicked his teeth and ignored them.
Although it pushed him off that everyone was staring at Jill and whispering like he was some sort of zoo animal, he didn't bother acting.
After all, it wasn't just this group that was talking . A lot of students that saw him in the way here couldn't help but whisper about his supposed 'hidden past'
Besides, Lucius wasn't stupid. It didn't take too long for him to catch on what was going on.
'That Xander, he's quite crafty. No, it shouldn't be him. It can only be that guy then.'
Oscar.
That guy had made his operable in the novel and was a well known villain.
If Xander was annoying then this guy was a real cockroach.
What made it worse was that this guy's favourite way of dealing with things was to scheme and cut in the shadows so it was hard to deal with him directly.
Even after Xander was utterly destroyed this guy just wiped his mouth, packed up and jumped ship to the next villain to continue to scheme against the protagonist.
This scheme of a smear campaign had never happened inside the novel. After all Landon was all round good guy with the title [Saint of Light]
How could you smear his reputation?
B it even if it didn't happen in the novel, the traces and handiwork were all pointing towards Oscar.
In just one day his temptation and his reputation in the mud. Although his actions yesterday must have played a part, the signs of hidden hand stimulating this were obvious.
But instead of panicking Lucius wanted to laugh!
It was an obvious attempt at character assassination to ruin his reputation and make him a social outcast.
It may have been effective at unsettling him if he was just a teenager but Lucius was already past the age of needing to fit in the group so he could manage just fine on his own.
If anything it would be even better this way, at least with such a vicious reputation no one would come to bother him needlessly.
As for the problem of team assessment and resources, Lucius really didn't care.
With his faked talent he was already guaranteed to have at least one teacher that would train him to the best of their abilities, with that how could he lack resources?
Even if he didn't have that, with his future knowledge he could sweep away the protagonist's opportunities at that point he would never fear a lack of resources.
His true goal in the academy is and would always be the heroines, not some lousy resources.
Thinking about all this Lucius could only shake his head.
If this was the extent of Xander's and Oscar's plan to ruin him then they should have done better.
