"Glad to have you back home. Ehm… " Galen chuckled awkwardly, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "If you'd like, you can rest in your room for now. The family elders will send someone to summon you to the meeting room when they're ready."
Raydon gave a slight nod before opening the door to the vehicle and stepping out. The interesting thing was that Raydon had to open his own door even though one of the maids rushed to open Galen's door.
'They're just playing a silly game, huh. ' Raydon cast a brief glance at the multitude of servants surrounding them, and a realization dawned upon him. He couldn't help but notice that, moments ago, the person these servants had greeted with the utmost respect was not him, but Galen. The deferential gazes directed at Galen contrasted starkly with the disdainful glances he himself received.
He did not care that he was being treated differently. After all, it's likely that they were instructed to behave in this manner, or else they were led to believe that Raydon was still a worthless child of the family.
In the end, each and every one of these servants was a person who was bought and raised by the Demugen family when they were very young and eventually became an item holder as a result of the family's efforts. Because of this, each of them had been subjected to brainwashing almost from the moment they were born, and as a result, they no longer thought of themselves as mere servants of the family but rather as loyal members.
These people, who could have sacrificed their lives at the Demugen family's command with a single order, seemed to be purposefully working in unison to diminish Raydon's sense of importance, all under the instruction of the very same family.
Raydon paid no attention to these family puppets as he and Galen, accompanied by the two maids who had greeted them, proceeded towards the gates of the mansion.
"Welcome back, young master. ''
Inside, they were greeted by a middle-aged woman who stood out among the other maids because she was dressed in a traditional maid's uniform that covered her entire body in addition to a long skirt.
'She is strong. ' When Raydon saw this person, that was the only thing that went through his mind.
''Hello, Miss Diam. '' Galen said timidly. He appeared tense, and one might even say that he appeared intimidated by the presence of this person.
Raydon was well aware of the identity of this woman and the reason that Galen was behaving in this manner. After the family head and family elders, this person held the third position of authority. This person served as the family's head maid and was in charge of all the household's servants and battle maids.
Due to the fact that she is the head of the Battle Maids, she holds a very significant position within the family. Due to the fact that being an item holder was not sufficient to qualify a maid as a battle maid, not every item holder servant was eligible for the title.
The battle maids were an exclusive group comprised solely of women, meticulously selected from a vast pool of candidates. Only the most skilled and refined individuals were chosen among the hundreds and even thousands.
These young women underwent rigorous training, serving as personal attendants and advisers to the family's children, who represented the future and legacy of the household. It was even anticipated that their young masters would keep them as lifelong companions throughout their entire lives, and at some point in time, they would bear their children, thereby continuing the family lineage.
To take things one step further, the young masters that these battle maids served might one day become their spouses, at which point they would assume the role of family elders.
Because of this particular reason, the head maid, who was entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing and guiding the family's future leaders, commanded an enormous amount of respect, not only from the members of the household. There was no doubt in anyone's mind that this was a pivotal role, as the incumbent would shape the family's legacy and fortunes for generations to come.
Diam's icy demeanor remained unchanged as she directed her attention towards Raydon. With a slight bow of her head, a gesture reserved for showing respect to the young masters of the family, she conveyed her message in a monotone voice. "The council awaits your presence in the meeting room."
Raydon couldn't help but notice the cold attitude Diam, like the other servants, showed towards him. However, he was aware that the icy disposition she displayed was not a reaction to him in particular. It was just her standard approach to dealing with everyone, and it had nothing to do with Raydon on a personal level.
"Oh, I assumed you would have some free time to relax or explore," Galen commented sheepishly, realizing that he had underestimated the urgency of the elders' desire for the meeting.
Raydon, upon realizing that Galen sincerely felt sorry for him, could not help but smile in response. In point of fact, for someone as impatient as him, the earlier the meeting could take place, the better, and he didn't care all that much about it.
"Accompany your young master to the meeting room." Diam remarked icily, without waiting for Raydon to respond, as she glared at the eight girls who were standing in a line at the back.
These eight individuals were all female, and they appeared to be top models for this world in terms of their appearance. In addition, the fact that they were lined up wearing maid costumes, all of which were similar to one another but featured distinctive particulars, contributed to the attractiveness of the group as a whole.
Nevertheless, it was not solely their breathtaking beauty or enchanting allure that captivated onlookers about this group; rather, what truly captivated them was the profound aura that emanated from each of them individually. It was obvious to anyone with an observant eye that these women were not ordinary item holders. Contained within their fragile frames was immense power that was just waiting to be released.
