A few moments ago, after Mark left the room with the group of young powerhouse, he released a sigh of weariness.

The situation was more than a little complicated for him lately and this mission was not helping in his stress.

But there was nothing he could do. He needed to go to Europe and this mission was his greatest chance. In fact, with this case involving the Dark Liuvre, he had even more reason to go.

"I hope everything will be alright."

"Worried already?"

Mark jumped away and rolled before taking out a gun from his holster and pointing in the direction where the voice came.

"I guess being a supporter didn't dull your senses."

Mark shook his head when he heard the voice once again close to his ear despite taking a distance. He finally recognized the voice.

A little pissed he simply pushed back his gun in after making sure the safety was on.

"Magician, this is not funny."

"It depends on whose point of view."

Behind Mark, Stood Adam in his full magician attire and great flourish. "You already finished discussing?"

"No. I am simply talking to all of you at the same time."

"Ah…You know this is freaky, right?"

"Heh. I know." Adam shrugged, uncaring about this. He had seen far more creepy. Compared to them, he was simply cute. "Wanna go out and relax a little?"

Mark hesitated a little before nodding, "Sure. Let's climb. The roof should be open."

"Ohh.. I like the discussion by the roof. All we lack is some good whiskey and a few smokes."

A small laugh escaped Mark's lips when he heard the rather unfunny joke of Adam. He knew the boy was trying in his way to make things easier for him and he appreciated that. He was happy to know that he had something of a friend and he knew that it was a very reliable friend in this case.

—--

The walk toward the elevator was a mostly silent one. The two of them were in a strange relationship where they were not close enough to be called friends but it would be a little too much to call them acquaintances. In the end, all of this came from this awkward situation.

It was only after reaching the rooftop that the two of them released a sigh.

The roof of the building was high and the wind was strong, it was not a place normal people should be visiting but for the two of them, this was nothing.

Standing close to the end of, Adam looked down at the cloud beneath and whistled,

"Do you feel like the King of the world when you are here?"

Adam smiled at this question, "I can fly much much higher than this."

Mark noticed that he did not answer his question and simply shrugged before taking out a packet of cigarettes and placing one between his lips.

"Do you have fire?" He asked belatedly to which Adam answered by forming a small flame on his finger and bringing it to the smoke, lighting it up.

"Thanks." He muttered under his breath before inspiring greatly and then, after holding it out, puffed the smoke out with a melancholic expression.

"I swore I wouldn't smoke again not long ago."

Mark started but soon started to stumper and have a coughing fit when the world around him became entirely monochrome white and black while some Jazz music sounded softly everywhere.

"What the hell?"

"Heh. Don't mind this. Just setting the mood."

Mark was speechless then helpless. He looked around walking a little toward the door of the elevator and passed his hand, only to see it take colors. Coming back, the color vanished.

It was — Intriguing.

"Your power over illusion is growing steadily and so is your way of acting like some old powerhouse."

"Heh. I learned using my power as I wanted was the way. So now, come back and talk. I already set the mood."

The jazz music that had lowered became a little louder again. Not only that, the light in the sky dimmed and became a perfect black with stars in the sky, a soft breeze picked up and his black suit was transformed in a brown trench coat with a hat on his head. Even his cigarette changed appearance and became a smoking pipe.

"Are you a fan of 90s thriller movies?"

"Just the mood."

Mark had to admit, at this very moment, that he was becoming scared of Adam. This kind of power was not something an illusionist should have. At the same time – giddiness filled his heart.

The mission that seemed so hard seemed now so simple. As long as they found the place where the statuette was stocked, stealing it would be so easy it wouldn't even be funny.

"So, where was I?"

"Smoking."

"Yeah, smoking." He waved the pipe around, "I had stopped smoking but recently, I am having troubles. Very big ones."

"Your sister?"

"Yes."

He took a breath, "We are orphans. Our parents officially died in an accident. Very young, I had to play the role, of a friend, a mother, father, and brother for her. I believe I did a good job raising her. At least as far as I could."

"She isn't a kid anymore. So, what problem did she have and what is her name exactly??"

"Theia" He puffed out another ring of smoke, "Theia Smith. My cute little sister entered the police force not long ago and now I learned that…She entered the supernatural world."

"Oh…"

Adam winced a little. He immediately understood who this was. Even though they did not have much exchange, Detective Smith was still very much in his mind and he remembered how unstable she had been back then.

This seemed like a recipe for disaster.

"So you decided to teach her everything?"

"Oh. She is going to learn. Just. Not from me. I guess I am getting what I deserve, I tried to keep her safe from it but in the end, she simply learned the truth in the worst way possible and now she hates me."

"She doesn't."
