A beam of light shot out, piercing toward Sylas with harrowing speed. It felt as though Lorien wanted to end this as quickly as possible.
And she was right to do so.
Every step until now, it was them giving Sylas a lull that allowed him to reverse the situation. This time, she didn't plan on giving the breathing room at all.
Her pink mist solidified into a long, whipping line that lacked any sort of flexibility at all. It shot across the bowel of the empty world, appearing so fast that Sylas could hardly react to it at all…
Or so it seemed.
In an instant, the piercing line was at Sylas' throat.
CHI.
A violet wreathed arm reached out and caught the line of pink out of the air. Sparks flew and Sylas' avatar was pushed a heavy step back, the line even cutting into his throat somewhat…
But no further.
The crowd fell into silence as Sylas stood there, his Scorpion Warlord Armor flickering with life and vitality. His tail swayed slowly and his avatar squeezed down.BANG!
The line of pink mist shattered and this time, it was Lorien's avatar that was forced a step back.
…
Mospheral's eyes widened and he stood to his feet violently.
"IMPOSSIBLE."
…
The District Head wasn't the only one with such a fierce reaction. And shockingly enough, it wasn't because they recognized the Scorpion Warlord Armor at all. The reality was that this armor… was far beyond the scopes of those in this tiny corner of the Skai Galaxy.
The reason they were shocked wasn't because they understood the history of the Scorpion Warlord Armor, but instead because of the fact a Rune Armor had appeared at all. 𐍂Å₦ȫВÈꞨ
Rune Armors did exist in the Skai Galaxy, but they were impossibly rare. They were family heirlooms even more valuable than Legendary Path Treasures, and they were treated as such.
In the entire Skai Galaxy, only the Thryskai themselves had a complete Rune Armor Inheritance. There were other families with Rune Armors as well, but they tended to be incomplete—singular gauntlets, simple chest plates, or things of the like.
But not only did Sylas have a Rune Armor… it was a complete one.
…
Mospheral felt his pupils trembling violently. How was this possible? How could such an unlikely event possibly occur right beneath his eyes?
In the Rune Avatar Scape… control over a Rune Armor would practically make one invincible!
That was when Mospheral thought of another problem.
How in the hell had Sylas drawn such a complete Rune Armor so quickly? Even if he had one, shouldn't it have taken time?
In the outside world, one could rely on Rune Tattoos like a certain Ravenclaw had. But in the Rune Avatar Scape, one's real body didn't enter, so this was obviously impossible.
There were only two possibilities. Either Sylas had drawn it right before their eyes, or he had something even rarer than a Rune Tattoo… A Soul Construct Etching.
Genes… Gene Talents… Blood Essence… Bone Essence… Comprehensions… and then, finally, Soul Constructs. It was a level that Sylas had yet to see just yet because his Taboo Bone Path Talent would need to reach Level 25 first. But with the stores of knowledge that Mospheral had access to, he knew well what a Soul Construct was and how impossibly rare it was to have an Etching of it.
Not a single fiber of Mospheral's being believed that Sylas had drawn the Rune in real time. That was simply impossible. Just how many Runes were there? How could he have finished them in the time it took Lorien's attack to reach him?
This could only mean that he had a Soul Construct Etching. And if that was the case…
Just what sort of Quest, Event, or Dungeon did he have to clear to receive such a reward?
Of course… if Mospheral knew that Sylas really had drawn his Scorpion Warlord Armor in real time, the realization of what that meant would shock him far more than a "mere" Soul Construct Etching.
…
Lorien stabilized herself, readying for a follow-up attack from Sylas, but it didn't come.
Inwardly, Sylas was frowning.
In order to finish his Scorpion Warlord Armor so quickly, he obviously relied on his Progenitor Flame Ability. But he couldn't infinitely slow down time, and the powerful Wills of others seemed to have a limiting effect on just how much he could in the first place.
Lorien's Will was particularly strong, so rather than being able to draw his Scorpion Warlord Armor to Flesh Mastery like he had recently become capable of, he was just barely able to hit the Breath Mastery level.
Luckily, this was enough for it to spontaneously draw Aether toward itself and solidify. Unluckily, this wasn't his only problem.
Moving was actually so… difficult.
He couldn't just think to move like he could with his body. He had to manipulate the Runes. The only reason he had been able to catch Lorien's attack was because he relied on his Progenitor Flame Ability once again.
But if he had to do that every moment in this battle, he would have to either finish this as quickly as possible, or he would run out of Will stamina and die.
Something was telling him even now that ending this battle so quickly wouldn't be easy. Lorien felt like an unfathomable well. The more he learned about her, the more confused he became.
Just now, that piercing pink mist attack was far more complex than it seemed. In order to give it form, there were dozens of little Foundations that wound around it, giving it heft and substance. The pink mist was capable of spontaneously controlling the laws around them and triggering them into action…
'Just like that Rune Monster…'
The realization hit Sylas like a truck.
That was exactly what it was.
His gaze landed on Lorien as the pink mist swirled around her like a weaving cyclone.
She had her own personal Rune Monster at her beck and call.
