Chapter 819

“Fire support!”

Lun Tai roared loudly.

Bei Tai swiftly raised his left arm, which had already transformed into a heavy artillery, and opened fire.

He did not aim it at Theodore, but Aderick behind him.

That was the most important target.

If they did not take advantage of his current inability to move, when else would they take action?

As Bei Tai opened fire, the others also took action.

Several War Pets were summoned out and they assumed the vanguard position. A bolt of lightning, as thick as a child’s arm, and a wind blade swept towards Theodore at the same time.

Several Players who were at the frontmost position pulled out their weapons and charged forward. Behind them came a wave of bullets that covered the sky.

“With just you guys?”

Theodore scoffed. Next, his figure shot into the sky at an unbelievable speed.

Beams of light, bullets and spells struck the very spot he was standing on earlier. Some even struck Aderick, who was behind him.

However, when the attacks made contact with Aderick’s body, regardless of what those attacks were, they seemingly struck a wall before dissipating away like the cloud. All they managed to do was light up and reveal a spherical-shaped barrier.

“High-grade defensive prop, very high grade!”

Lun Tai’s face turned dark.

Amongst the attacks fired at Aderick earlier, the strongest one was already at [A+] class. And yet, the barrier around Aderick did not even budge.

No questions were needed to know that this was most certainly an [S] class defensive prop.

As expected, the wealth of the resident guilds of Zero City was nothing to scoff at.

However, a defensive prop of such high grade could not possibly remain in effect forever. There must be a time limit. Perhaps, it might even be a one-time consumable.

If so, before the active period of the barrier ended, they would have to kill off this lean fellow known as Theodore first.

“Roddy, don’t hold back!”

Before Lun Tai could even finish his shout, a gigantic mech had appeared up in the sky.

It held in its hands a lance made of light.

“If you’re a small fry, then just stay down!”

Roddy shouted, the mech’s thrusters pushing the mech’s speed up in an instant to charge towards Theodore, who had jumped into the sky. The beam lance drew a fan of light in the sky, enveloping Theodore within it.

The dual blades were unsheathed.

One of them condensed out icy frost while the other burned with raging fire.

There was a sneer on Theodore’s face as the ice blade in his right hand moved to face the beam lance.

Bang!

The beam lance clearly did not possess a tangible body. And yet, the instant it made contact with the ice blade, a clashing sound rang out. It was as though two real swords had collided against one another.

Borrowing the impact from the collision, Theodore’s figure then twisted in mid-air. Next, his figure flipped and he flashed forward to appear behind the Gundam.

“You want to compete speed?”

Roddy gripped the joysticks in the cockpit and shouted. The Gundam’s thrusters swiftly adjusted their angles. Similarly, it performed a flip before charging up into the sky.

The armour plates on its shoulders slid open and two beam cannons appeared.

Mega Particle Cannons. 70% power.

Fire!

Theodore’s face sank. His legs then kicked the air at a speed beyond anything the naked eye could see to create a shockwave in the sky.

The speed of the kick had surpassed the speed of sound. Borrowing the recoil from the shockwave, Theodore was able to evade the Gundam’s particle cannon attacks, which grazed his body as he rushed to the ground.

The two particle cannon attacks swept past Theodore to strike a small mountain behind them. The violent explosion flattened the mountain.

Roddy had wanted to open fire again when he saw Theodore rushing into a crowd of men.

“Ironwall Guardian!”

A Player shouted and summoned a heavily-armoured robot with a shield in its hands before him. The robot was made entirely of metal.

Lun Tai shouted the orders loudly.

Even if it was an [S] class defensive prop, with so many of them here to slowly grind at it, they should be able to grind away the barrier’s power.

As for Theodore…

He was indeed very fast. He was also very strong. However, with so many men besieging him, there was no way for him to hold on.

Even though he had been shot a few times in quick succession, Theodore did not faint. Instead, he rolled on the ground, brought out a few Healing Beast Bloods and shoved them into his mouth. Then, he jumped up again, leaping past the next wave of fire as he rushed towards Bei Tai, who was at the very back.

I must… protect the Guild Leader!

Theodore clenched his teeth, his eyes having turned blood-red.

The modification that Aderick did to him had indeed improved his strength considerably. However, it had still failed to push him to [S] class.

As for these enemies, they were – be it their number or strength – far beyond his ability to handle.

The wounds he sustained earlier alone had caused his speed to drop somewhat.

Bei Tai turned to see Theodore rushing towards him. However, not only did he not move to evade Theodore, he instead smiled.

Air Incarceration!

When there was still a distance of 30 metres between him and the charging Theodore, Bei Tai finally used his skill.

Although the Air Incarceration skill was no longer his main skill, Bei Tai had still upgraded it once.

While it was certainly still insufficient to completely entrap Theodore, it was more than enough to temporarily slow him down.

Theodore, who had been charging forward, suddenly felt as though the space around him had frozen. His entire body became like a fly that had flown into a jelly. Instantly, his forward momentum was reduced.

He had only just raised the short blade in his right hand when a loud roar came from behind him.

A heavy hammer heavily slammed onto the back of Theodore’s head, blasting his whole body away as though it was just a feather.

That was an all-out attack by Lun Tai, who had fully activated his Muscle Fruit skill.

Theodore’s body was still hurtling through the air when a blazing sword of light descended to stab him in his lower abdomen area. Then, with a swing, it left a massive gash on him.

His body smashed onto the ground, his internal organs spilling out from the wound. His whole head was buzzing and he nearly fainted.

As expected… it’s still too much…

Theodore struggled to open his eyes and saw a blazing phoenix descend upon him while releasing a cry.

The blazing phoenix partially blocked his vision of the defensive barrier around Aderick, which was continuously enveloped by artillery fire.

“Guild… Leader…”

Theodore’s lips trembled, having accepted his death.

I’m sorry. I could not keep the promise I made to you. But, I’ve already… tried my best.

I hope the Eternal Crystal’s barrier, can last until you regain control…

Boom!

The blazing phoenix struck the ground, its eruption filling the sky with flames.

Lun Tai released a slight sigh of relief.

This fellow… his speed was practically at the point of being demonic.

Thankfully, he was able to bring so many cannon fodders with him here. If it weren’t for that, some members of his team would have died already.

Thankfully, though, the final obstacle had been dealt with.

Then… as long as they could finish off the temporarily immobilized Aderick…

The thought had only just risen up from Lun Tai’s mind when he suddenly saw the flames go out.

A black figure carried Theodore in his arms and slowly walked out from the charred ground.

“It’s been hard on you, Theodore.

“This time, none of us will die.

“After killing them off, I will bring you home.”

Despite his state, it would appear that Theodore still had a final bit of life left in him.

“Brother Lun Tai. Xiaolei… has lost.”

At the same time, Qimu Xi’s voice came through the guild channel.
