Avalon Ruin

While Yang Liqin was going on a rampage in her area, Jiang Ming finally finished placing all the devices on the Avalon Ruin.

"Phew, this is some tedious task." He exclaimed loudly, wiping off some of his sweat with his sleeve.

Although planting the devices at designated locations was simple and straightforward, the monsters that kept spawning were way too much.

Behind Jiang Ming laid numerous skeletons that piled up into at least five small mountains.

"Ugh, my neck and body are sore after killing these same skeletons over and over again." Jiang Ming complained.

Ding!

<Congratulations to Player Jiang Ming for clearing the corrosion in the Avalon Ruin>

<Entrance to the inner area of the Avalon Ruin had been unlocked>

<GLCS wishes the best of luck to Player Jiang Ming and his attempt at completing the mission~>

Seeing the pop-up of the system prompt, Jiang Ming smiled bitterly.

He was the one doing all the hard work and wasting his stamina whereas the system gets to be comfortable on its transparent screen.

"Don't you think this is kind of unfair, GLCS? I'm pretty sure you want to discover the secrets as well." Jiang Ming asked about the system.

There was no such thing as a coincidence mission in Cultivation Omega, so Jiang Ming was sure that the current mission he received was on purpose.

How else could he explain that he was the only one teleported here in the Avalon Ruin?

Alas, the system seemed to have gone to deaf mode as there was no response coming from it.

Jiang Ming wasn't surprised by the result as he could only reluctantly explore the inner area alone.

The inner area was located around the basement since there was a staircase leading underground the moment he finished planting all the devices.

Although it looks cliche and superficial, that is usually how gaming mechanisms work.

To go from point A to point B, all you have to do is the required task, and the mechanism would automatically operate.

Heading downstairs slowly, Jiang Ming continued to use his Moonstow Flame to light the candles that were placed on the side of the wall, illuminating the area.

Before he could reach the end of the staircase though, Jiang Ming managed to sniff a foul smell emitting downward.

Without hesitation, he quickly used some of his spiritual qi to block his nose to prevent the foul smell from invading.

'Just how many dead corpses are underground?' He wondered silently. The smell was similar to the corpse he had previously investigated in the Lavender Heaven, but much stronger this time.

Hence, even he could not resist such a disgusting smell and had to utilize his spiritual qi compared to last time.

Sometime later, Jiang Ming finally reached the final steps and arrived underground.

What greeted his eyes were rotten corpses scattered across the platform. Some were even holding a small child corpse in their embrace.

Looking at the scene, Jiang Ming's expression darkened as he tilted to his right and noticed a signboard.

Temporary Refuge

That was the name of the signboard and Jiang Ming could subtly understand how these people might have died.

Their rotten skins were extremely skinny and their face was wrinkled to the point that they could not wrinkle any further.

"These people have starved to death…" Jiang Ming muttered. His mood had turned sour because, in his mind, the worst way to kill someone is through starvation.

As someone who loved to eat all day long, this was nothing but a sham and a humiliation. Jiang Ming's aura rose as he stomped the ground and unleashed his Moonstow Flame, burning all the corpses in the process to let them rest in peace.

Of course, he had already ordered the system to scan the corpses to investigate further since he couldn't allow his consciousness to manually inspect the corpses.

They have already died for a long time, and it would be rude to continue to violate their rights.

Jiang Ming made a light bow to pay his respect to them. 'Rest assured people, I will definitely find you justice.'

Sometime later, Jiang Ming began walking around the platform and noticed some ancient letters engraved on the walls.

"System, can you translate these letters for me?" He asked.

Ding!

<Current System level is unable to decipher the ancient letterings>

'Current system level?' Jiang Ming raised an eyebrow in confusion.

"When did a system have a level to access something?" He wondered.

Suddenly, he recalled reading about the system being only level 1 in the past prompts.

Seeing how the words could not be deciphered yet, Jiang Ming decided to have the system record the lettering first.

He would have it decipher the lettering again if the system level up somehow. Considering how long the current mission is, Jiang Ming concluded that it should be enough to have the system upgraded.

10 minutes had gone by, and Jiang Ming finished recording all the ancient words engraved on the wall. Although some of the words were cut off due to the rust, it couldn't be helped. He was already thankful that he could have some words recorded for further studies.

"It's time to check the final door huh…" Jiang Ming turned his attention to the large door at the far corner. It was the only access point other than the staircase he came from.

Since the corpses he had seen here died from starvation, then it could only mean they were trapped here with no escapes. The staircase option was probably not viable back then, so what was hiding behind the large door?

Jiang Ming didn't know and could only slowly walk toward the large door in a cautious manner.

Ding!

<Player Jiang Ming has found the entrance to the legacy of Token Holder.>

<Reward: the key to the door>

As soon as Jiang Ming was an inch away from the door. There was a system prompt, and a key magically appeared in front of him.

'How convenient is that?' Jiang Ming sneered inwardly, feeling like a puppet.
