Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict
Chapter 1087: 1086, you haven't seen the babies yetChapter 1087: 1086, you haven’t seen the babies yet
Mo Xiuchen nonchalantly raised an eyebrow. “Haven’t you already seen them?”
“Is my seeing them the same as you seeing them?”
Wen Jin glared at him irritably and strode to the bedside, confronting him, “As the father of the two babies, don’t you feel bad for not visiting them sooner?”
“Not at all.”
Mo Xiuchen replied calmly.
What was so bad about it? He was just going to see them a little later.
“Which one is the eldest?”
Just as Wen Jin was turning to leave, Mo Xiuchen suddenly spoke up again. He was afraid that later Ranran would ask him, and he wouldn’t know.
Wen Jin paused, turned back to look at him, and saw that he hadn’t lifted his head, his gaze still resting on Ranran. He frowned slightly, “Momo is the elder sister, and Ziyi is the younger brother.”
“Mm.”
Mo Xiuchen hummed a response and said nothing more.
Wen Jin walked to the door, opened it to leave, and asked another question, “Aren’t you going to eat either?”
“I’ll eat later.”
Mo Xiuchen’s answer was expected by Wen Jin. Feeling speechless, he left the hospital room and closed the door behind him. Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t look at Momo and Ziyi, so he, as their uncle, would go and see them.
Wen Ran woke up around the same time that Gu Yan had mentioned.
At nine twenty-five in the evening, Wen Ran slowly opened her eyes to the stark white ceiling above her.
There was a moment of blankness in her consciousness before she fully awoke, and then she heard an extremely tender voice above her head, “Ranran, you’re awake.”
Wen Ran slowly moved her eyes, and when they met Mo Xiuchen’s deep ones, filled with a touch of tenderness, she blinked, and her voice, emerging from her red lips, carried a hint of weakness as she softly asked, “Xiuchen, when did you get back?”
“I’ve been back for a while now, Ranran. Why are you so foolish? You had such a serious issue but didn’t let Qing Feng and Qing Yang tell me.”
Mo Xiuchen’s distinctly boned hand still held Wen Ran’s, and as he spoke, he leaned down to tenderly kiss her forehead.
Wen Ran pursed her lips and said softly, “You had just left on a business trip. I didn’t want to worry you.”
“Idiot, is work more important than you? If anything happened to you…”
“Xiuchen.”
Wen Ran cut him off before he could finish.
She looked into his eyes, filled with self-reproach and deep affection, and warmth surged through her heart. “I’m fine now, aren’t I? Don’t blame yourself anymore. By the way, where are our babies now?”
“The babies are in the nursery. If you want to see them, I can have someone bring them over. Don’t move too much; be careful, your wound might hurt.”
Mo Xiuchen spoke softly, instructing her. Wen Ran nodded, her gaze tenderly fixed on him.
Mo Xiuchen stood up and left the hospital room; a nurse was standing by outside. He gave an order and then returned to the room.
“Ranran, does the wound hurt?”
“It doesn’t hurt.”
Wen Ran smiled and shook her head. Even if it hurt, she couldn’t tell him. This man was already carrying enough guilt; she didn’t want him to feel even worse.
“Xiuchen, you just got to the other place and then rushed back. How will you handle the work there?”
Wen Ran changed the subject, asking with concern.
Mo Xiuchen’s lips curved slightly, and he said softly, “I called Ah Mu. I asked him to handle it for now.”
“Is it alright for you not to go?”
Wen Ran felt a bit uneasy. If Mo Xiuchen didn’t go, he wouldn’t have gone in person either.
“Sure, there’s nothing wrong with that.” Mo Xiuchen replied with certainty, thinking about handing over the presidency to Ah Mu. He would soon have children of his own, and he would not only have to take care of Ranran but also two children, which would keep him very busy.
And Ah Mu was the most suitable candidate.
Two minutes later, the door to the hospital room was pushed open, and the people who came in with the baby were not nurses, but Bai Yiyi and Wen Jin.
“Ranran, the nurse said you were awake. Wen General and I have brought the baby for you to hold.”
Bai Yiyi said cheerily, holding Momo as she approached the bedside. She didn’t let Mo Xiuchen see but stood at the head of the bed, lowered the baby, and let Ranran look, “Ranran, this is Momo, she’s your big sister. Look at her eyes, nose, isn’t she just like you? You don’t know, the nurse said she had never seen such a beautiful baby.”
Mo Xiuchen stretched his neck, curiously moving closer to see.
Bai Yiyi glanced at him, “Mo General, do you think Momo looks like Ranran?”
“Let me hold her.”
Mo Xiuchen’s lips curled into a tender curve, his deep eyes sparkling with a smile, and as he spoke, he reached out to hold Momo.
“Mo Xiuchen, didn’t you just not want to see Momo and Ziyi?”
Behind him, Wen Jin’s voice sounded coolly.
Mo Xiuchen’s expression froze for a moment, and he turned his head to glare at him coldly.
“Mo Xiuchen, haven’t you seen the baby yet?”
Wen Ran asked with confusion, blinking her bright and helpless eyes.
“I was too worried about you earlier, and I heard they were sleeping, so I thought we’d look at them together when you woke up.”
Mo Xiuchen explained gently, changing his face faster than the weather.
“Ranran, I’ll hold her up for you to see,” Mo Xiuchen said, and without checking whether Bai Yiyi was willing or not, he assertively took Momo from her hands.
He had never held a child before, especially a newborn, so soft it felt as if there were no bones. The moment he held Momo, his body stiffened.
“Mo General, be careful.”
Seeing Mo Xiuchen stiffen, Bai Yiyi instantly knew he didn’t know how to hold a child and quickly reached out her hands.
“It’s okay, I can hold her.”
Mo Xiuchen smiled awkwardly; his stiffness was just a moment’s, and he quickly found the way, cradling Momo in his hands. The tiny baby, held by him, looked even tinier.
“Mo Xiuchen, I want to hold the baby too.”
Wen Ran watched Momo, who had one eye wide open and the other half-closed. As she looked at her, Momo also curiously gazed back.
Perhaps it was a mother-daughter instinct, for after a few seconds of eye contact between Momo and Wen Ran, the baby blinked, moved her lips, and seemed to smile at her.
“Momo, this is Mommy, and I am Daddy.”
Mo Xiuchen watched his daughter, feeling more and more that she looked just like Ranran. Her eyes, nose, and cherry lips were strikingly similar. Especially those curved eyebrows, they were incredibly beautiful.
“Mo Xiuchen, I want to hold Momo.”
Wen Ran’s words from before were ignored by Mo Xiuchen, so she repeated them now, her eyes glimmering with anticipation.
Mo Xiuchen’s brow furrowed slightly and he said softly, “Ranran, you’ve just had surgery, you can’t hold the baby right now. Wait a few days until your wound heals a bit more, then you can hold her.”
At these words, Wen Ran pursed her lips in slight disappointment. Beside her, Wen Jin stepped forward with Ziyi in his arms, facing Wen Ran with a smile, “Ranran, Mo Xiuchen is right, you can’t hold her now, but it’s the same for us to hold them up for you to see.”
Ziyi, upon seeing his mother, also showed the same curiosity as Momo.
Unlike Momo, both of his eyes were wide open. Wen Ran, looking at her two beautiful babies, suddenly felt as if all the hardship during the months of pregnancy and the pain from that afternoon had vanished completely.
