Chapter 2179 - The Wind Rises in the Southern Flame Divine Continent

Chapter 2179 – The Wind Rises in the Southern Flame Divine Continent

An expert of Qingwu Divine Court?

Su Yi was briefly stunned. Then, he realized that word of what had happened in the Billowing Blue Realm had already spread.

As expected, many others were gathered near the Celestial Winds Crossing. All of them spoke up at once.

“Your Excellency, might I ask why you’ve sealed the crossing?” someone asked respectfully.

“The greatest orthodoxy in the Billowing Blue Realm, the Celestial Yao Mountains, has fallen. The killer was Su Yi, the one wanted by every god and Buddha beneath the heavens,” the tall, stalwart man said solemnly. “We have no choice but to seal off the Celestial Winds Crossing to prevent him from escaping the Billowing Blue Realm. The crossing will re-open once he’s been captured.”

The crowd was instantly in uproar. So, the crossing is sealed to help them capture Su Yi!

Suddenly, a group of experts emerged from the crowd. Their leader, an old man in golden robes, took out his identification and introduced himself. “I’m a disciple of the Nine Profundities Yao Court. Please, do me a favor and let my companions and me pass.”

The Nine Profundities Yao Court!

Many of those gathered nearby were shocked.

That was one of the greatest orthodoxies in the Southern Flame Divine Continent. Their strength and foundations weren’t at all inferior to Qingwu Divine Court’s.

But against the crowd’s expectations, the stalwart man didn’t even look at the proffered identification. He simply refused. “As I said earlier, no one is permitted to cross. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you came from.”

“You…” The old man’s expression darkened.

The tall, stalwart man said expressionlessly, “Since you’re from the Nine Profundities Yao Court, I’m sure you understand how critical it is that we capture Su Yi. If anything goes wrong… will the Nine Profundities Yao Court be able to bear the consequences?

The old man’s expression shifted erratically.

Su Yi! The criminal wanted by both gods and Buddhas! No small number of Master Gods were targeting him!

Given the circumstances, anyone who tried to disrupt efforts to capture Su Yi would quickly find themselves surrounded by enemies on all sides!

In the end, the old man in golden robes and his companions stepped back. They dared not object any further.

When the others saw that not even the Nine Profundities Yao Court dared intervene, they lost hope. They no longer dared to even entertain notions of going to the Southern Flame Divine Continent.

“Master.” The little monkey looked at Su Yi as if asking for instructions.

“Attack. We’ll just fight our way through,” Su Yi said casually. “No need to worry about them figuring out who we are. They can forget about finding us once we’ve reached the Southern Flame Divine Continent.”

“Got it!” The little monkey shifted on his feet, and…

Boom!

He was suddenly one hundred thousand feet tall and standing directly before the crossing. His eyes were like suns and moons, and his body was like a towering mountain. A waterfall of chaos energy flowed down his fur.

As his monstrous divine majesty spread outward, it threw the surrounding stars into chaos.

“This…” The entire crowd was thrown into uproar. Countless experts were startled.

Further away, the stalwart man and the others guarding the crossing looked stricken. The stalwart man roared, “Who are you? Are you intent on forcing your way through the crossing?”

“Those who block my path shall die!” the little monkey said coldly as he leaped into the fray.

Boom!!

He suddenly manifested three heads and six arms. As he circulated the full extent of his cultivation base, his terrifying aura alone was enough to sweep the area like a windstorm and tear open the void.

The experts blocking the way ahead looked horrified, and they scampered off in panic.

Even so, many of them were sent flying. Some were badly injured, while others were ripped directly to pieces!

Desperate screams shook the surrounding area.

The tall, stalwart man was among the first to retreat. He was only a Creation Realm Lesser God. How could he possibly face the little monkey head-on?

The result was entirely unsuspenseful. The force Qingwu Divine Court had sent to guard the crossing scattered and dispersed.

And as the little monkey charged on through, Su Yi sat comfortably on his shoulders.

Soon, the pair emerged from the other end of the crossing and arrived in the Southern Flame Divine Continent.

The little monkey almost found this hard to believe. “It was that easy?”

“There are two possible explanations,” Su Yi said casually. “Either my enemies really tried to take action, but had so little time to prepare that they couldn’t seal the crossing properly, or they knew all along that a lineup like that wouldn’t be able to hold us back.”

Su Yi stretched languidly. “It doesn’t matter which possibility turns out to be accurate. After this, they’ll know that I’ve entered the Southern Flame Divine Continent.”

“We’ve both got to keep a lower profile going forward, but we needn’t fuss about it too much. There’s no way they’ll find me once I’ve made it into Qingwu Divine Court.”

He patted the little monkey on the shoulder. “Come on, let’s head for Spring and Autumn City. We can split up from there.”

“Alright!”

The little monkey turned back into a sparrow, and Su Yi steered the treasure ship into the distance.

Just like Su Yi expected, that very day, word that he and the little monkey had passed through Celestial Winds Crossing and entered the Southern Flame Divine Continent reached the God Domain’s top sects that very day.

……

The Ancient Nirvana Divine Continent, the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains.

A run-down, unsophisticated Buddhist temple.

A bronze lamp hung overhead, casting flickering light on the ground.

“Founder, Di E sent word that Su Yi had taken lethal damage, and that even if he somehow survived, he’d be badly injured. He was certain that Su Yi couldn’t possibly recover any time soon,” said a white-eyebrowed monk. He stood in the threshold and said, “But now, it seems that Su Yi’s condition is far better than we predicted.”

A gaunt old monk sat in the heart of the temple.

This was the Dipankara Buddha!

His expression was grave, without the slightest sign of joy or sorrow. “Surviving Di E’s lethal strike is proof that that heretic still has cards up his sleeves.”

“Then what should we do, Founder?” asked the white-eyebrowed monk.

“The Southern Flame Divine Continent’s territories are vast, and it’s a world of yao and demons. No matter what we do, we cannot possibly outcompete the ‘local serpents’ of the Southern Flame Divine Continent,” the Dipankara Buddha said softly. “We don’t have the home-turf advantage, so for now, we can just sit back and watch tigers fight from a safe distance. We can borrow those yao and demons’ hands. Let’s see just how long that heretic lasts.”

“But what if they capture Su Yi…?” asked the white-eyebrowed monk. “We’d miss out on the power of reincarnation. The consequences…”

“Relax. The whole world is watching the Southern Flame Divine Continent now,” said the Dipankara Buddha, his expression as tranquil as the waters of an ancient well. “It won’t be so easy to capture Su Yi first, no matter who tries it.

“But…” Here, the Dipankara Buddha took a moment to think. “Send word to Cloudy Heights Temple and have them keep an eye on the situation.”

“Got it!” The white-eyebrowed monk nodded.

Cloudy Heights Temple was a Buddhist faction stationed in the Southern Flame Divine Continent. They weren’t a true top faction, but they still had a Master God to oversee things.

Moreover, they were backed by the Western Paradise Spirit Mountains!

……

The Spirit Firmament Divine Continent.

The Three Purities Daoist Court.

“Junior Apprentice Brother Yun He, do you think we ought to make a move?” Master God Yun Xiao said warmly.

It hadn’t been long since he and his junior apprentice brother, Master God Yun He, went to the Road of Celestial Guidance to try and intercept Su Yi.

“The Southern Flame Divine Continent…” Master God Yun He’s brow furrowed. “That’s yao and demon territory, and each of those old monsters and devils is fiercer than the one before. If we send our forces, I’m afraid we’ll offend them.”

“Then let’s just sit back and watch as tigers do battle!” Master God Yun Xiao said calmly. “Su Yi is a walking disaster. He’s sure to throw the Southern Flame Divine Continent’s balance of power into chaos, and those yao and demons are in no way united. I can say with certainty that they’ll fight amongst themselves!”

“Ah, I see. ‘When the snipe and the clam fight, it’s the fisherman who benefits.’” Master God Yun He’s eyes lit up.

“Exactly,” said Master God Yun Xiao. “But playing fisherman doesn’t mean we’re not going to do anything at all. To the best of my knowledge, in life, Yi Daoxuan reigned over the Endless Ocean, but several of his sworn brothers betrayed him, almost killing him. Even his faction crumbled as a result.

“Now, Yi Daoxuan has returned through the cycle of reincarnation as Su Yi. Don’t you think he’s likely to seek revenge in the Endless Ocean?”

“I’m sure of it!” Master God Yun He said immediately.

Master God Yun Xiao smiled. “Then… we’ll just make arrangements in the Endless Ocean before he gets there! It doesn’t matter when he attempts revenge. So long as he goes to the Endless Ocean, he’ll fall right into our trap.”

“Brilliant!” Master God Yun He nodded.

“We can’t just hang around the Endless Ocean and wait for our prey to fall into our lap,” said Master God Yun Xiao. “We’ve got to at least do something in the Southern Flame Divine Continent to prevent Su Yi from falling into others’ hands.”

“Alright, it’s settled.” Master God Yun He got up. “I’ll make the arrangements personally!”

……

Similar scenes unfolded in many of the God Domain’s top factions, including the Divine Court of Providence, the ancient Wenren Family, and the Endless Transformations Divine Mountain.

A storm was brewing.

And when Su Yi entered the Southern Flame Divine Continent, the storm came with him! Every god and Buddha beneath the heavens was paying attention!

Few among the general populace knew of the brewing storm targeting Su Yi. Only those prominent experts standing at the top had the breadth of vision to consider the God Domain as a whole.

The ordinary folk could only see their tiny corners of the world. They were like frogs in a well, unable to sense the shifting of the world’s balance of power in its entirety.

This was, perhaps, fortunate. Ignorance spared them much worry and aggravation.

But it was also unfortunate, because as times changed, only those top experts could determine the course of the future and direct the course of worldly affairs.

As for the commonfolk… As the river of history shifted, they were just passively swept into the current!

To the prominent factions of the Southern Flame Divine Continent, Su Yi’s arrival was like an invisible storm shattering the continent’s former tranquility.

Dark currents flowed beneath the surface. The winds and rains were gathering.

The top yao and demon orthodoxies were rubbing their hands together with anticipation. One by one, all of them took action!

But what confused them was that after arriving in the Southern Flame Divine Continent, Su Yi seemed to vanish into thin air, as if he’d evaporated. Shockingly, no one could figure out where he’d gone.

A Master God took action personally, using a supreme treasure with power over destiny to perform a divination.

But he didn’t just come up empty-handed. He even suffered a backlash and coughed up blood on the spot.

Rumor had it that even his supreme treasure cracked!

After this incident, the gods and Buddhas realized something.

There’d be no capturing Su Yi any time soon!
