First Immortal of the Sword
Chapter 2154 - A Nine Apertures Sword Meridian?Chapter 2154 – A Nine Apertures Sword Meridian?
Su Yi looked over.
That streak of blood-red sword qi towered into the heavens, dazzlingly bright. Its terrifying sword force alone was enough to tear open countless rifts in the sky.
It was indistinct, but when they looked at the source of the sword qi, they saw an ancient altar.
Strangely, it seemed indistinct, and it was covered by spacetime power. It seemed it might well vanish at a moment’s notice.
“Now that we’ve arrived, have you sensed any changes in your body?” asked Su Yi.
A’Ling froze, a bit stunned and confused. “Changes? I… don’t think so…”
Su Yi’s brow furrowed, and he sank into thought. After a while, he murmured, “Perhaps the time is not yet right, or perhaps your cultivation is still too low…”
A’Ling’s delicate eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “Big Brother Xiao, what are you saying?”
Su Yi laughed. “It’s nothing. Let’s move further in. This might be a forbidden zone, but to you and me, it’s perfectly safe. You have absolutely nothing to fear here.”
A’Ling was still incomparably nervous, but when she heard that, she gnashed her teeth and forged further in.
Time slipped by.
The deeper they went into the Demon Crow Mountains, the quieter it became. They no longer encountered beasts fleeing for their lives or heard their desperate, terrified roars.
The area was shrouded in black fog and permeated with blood-red sword qi. It was oppressive, stifled, and silent.
Along the way, A’Ling discovered numerous rare and unusual spirit medicines. Some, she didn’t even know the names of.
Still, she could say with certainty that they were first-rate treasures! If she picked even just one of them and sold it in the city, it’d fetch an astronomical price!
But this deep in the Demon Crow Mountains, they grew all over the place.
A’Ling felt as if she’d been transported to an enormous natural treasury, with precious medicines and materials covering every inch of ground. Everywhere she looked, she saw the type of good fortune that the world’s cultivators could only long for even in their dreams!
Su Yi, however, didn’t even look at them. He just urged A’Ling to pick up the pace.
Despite her confusion, A’Ling was gradually starting to trust his instructions.
Because even after all this time, they really hadn’t run into any danger whatsoever! And as they ventured further in, they really did find increasingly rare and precious treasures!
An hour later.
“This is far enough,” Su Yi said suddenly.
They weren’t far from the towering streak of blood-red sword qi. From here, they could clearly see mysterious talisman markings of the Laws of the Natural Order floating within the sword qi. The markings resembled twisted, contorted swords, mystical and inscrutable.
And the sword qi really was emanating from an altar!
The altar hovered in midair, and it was pitch-black throughout and fully one thousand feet tall. Currents of spacetime coursed around it, producing a low, continuous rumbling.
That streak of sword qi emanated from the altar, filling both heaven and earth as it absorbed the light of the Demon Flame Purple Moon like mad!
When A’Ling heard that Su Yi finally wanted to stop, she sighed in relief.
No matter how much she trusted Su Yi, coming all the way here had put enormous pressure on her.
Fortunately, they were finally stopping!
“Lean me against that boulder, then go ahead and gather treasures, but remember: don’t go too far,” said Su Yi. “Also, you have to come back within an hour.”
But A’Ling hesitated. “Big Brother Xiao, I don’t feel at all relaxed about leaving you here. How about…”
“There’s no need,” Su Yi said with a laugh. “I’m safest here. Go on. Don’t waste any more time.”
A’Ling bit down on her soft pink lower lip and said, “Alright, but if anything happens, call for help right away.”
“Of course.”
A’Ling quickly set off on her own.
Su Yi, meanwhile, leaned against a boulder and gazed at that towering streak of sword qi, his eyes flashing as he sank into thought.
Less than an hour later, A’Ling returned in obvious delight and excitement. “Big Brother Xiao, there are… so, so, so many treasures here! A lot of them, I don’t even recognize. They’re like the immortal treasures of legend! Look!”
Su Yi looked over the treasures. Most were spirit medicines suitable for Transcendents, but there were a few immortal medicines, too. Still, they weren’t all that rare. Most were at best suitable for Universe Realm cultivators.
That aside, there were several spiritual materials of varying qualities, but… that was about it.
Still, Su Yi understood how A’Ling must be feeling. None of those treasures interested him, but to a Spiritual Revolution Realm cultivator like her, this really was wealth beyond her wildest dreams!
After all, the strongest warriors in Grassy Creek Village were only in the Profound Unity Realm.
The Path of Heaven’s Ascension and the Path of Transcendence lay above it. You had to cross them both to become an immortal.
Now, in just one hour, A’Ling had gathered an abundance of Transcendent treasures, as well as several medicines suited for Universe Realm Immortals. Wealth like that would drive even Transcendents mad, let alone a Spiritual Revolution cultivator like A’Ling.
“Put it away,” Su Yi said with a smile. “Tonight, our greatest good fortune doesn’t lie in external objects like those.”
A’Ling was stunned. “What do you mean, Big Brother Xiao?”
“Try cultivating here. If I’m not mistaken, you’ll be able to break into the Profound Dao before the night is through and become a Profound Illumination Empress,” Su Yi said with a smile.
He could tell that A’Ling had stagnated at the peak of the Spiritual Revolution Realm for a long time. All she needed now was the right opportunity to break through.
“Really?” A’Ling found this hard to believe.
“Try it and see,” said Su Yi.
A’Ling felt as if she were dreaming; it just didn’t seem real. Everything she’d experienced tonight was just too unbelievable.
But it was all really happening.
A’Ling couldn’t help but look at Su Yi. Her Big Brother Xiao’s injuries were so bad that he couldn’t even walk, and he needed her to carry him.
Yet he seemed to have a mysterious power. He always managed to surprise and delight her.
A’Ling naturally hadn’t forgotten that seven days ago, when she’d been bitten by a snake and her life hung in the balance, not even the village elder could save her.
However, to her Big Brother Xiao, neutralizing the poison seemed downright trivial. All he did was teach her a secret art, and soon, she’d neutralized the poison with ease!
Furthermore, over the past week, he’d personally guided her cultivation, resolving many of her doubts and questions.
She could clearly sense that, although her cultivation base hadn’t changed significantly over the past week, her perception of the Grand Dao and understanding of cultivation had undergone an earth-shaking transformation!
A’Ling silently tried to make sense of it. Big Brother Xiao has got to be someone incredible. He might even be an immortal!! Otherwise, how could he possibly be so capable?
When Su Yi saw that the young woman had fallen into a daze, he couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. “What are you thinking about? Hurry up and start cultivating. Remember to use the technique I taught you.”
“Uh… Mm!” A’Ling reacted as if awakening from a dream, nodded repeatedly, then sat down to cultivate. She quickly cast aside her scattered thoughts and entered a meditative state.
Even she didn’t notice it, but as her vital energy rumbled and boomed, a wispy, inscrutable rain of the Grand Dao silently coursed into her body.
Su Yi watched from the boulder he was leaning on, but he didn’t find it at all strange.
That towering streak of blood-red sword qi was drawing in the ambient power of the Grand Dao and gathering it all in one place. Even immortals received unimaginable benefits when cultivating here, never mind a Spiritual Revolution Realm cultivator like A’Ling.
It was just a pity… that it couldn’t help Su Yi cultivate.
Su Yi sighed deeply. He felt a bit frustrated. He’d been hoping to find treasures that could help him recover in the Demon Crow Mountains, but alas, there was nothing of the sort.
His Dao Wounds were the work of Di E, a terrifying expert who’d touched the threshold of the River of Destiny.
Never mind immortal medicines, even most divine medicines would be completely useless in treating them.
But then, Su Yi wasn’t looking for anything luxurious. He just hoped to restore a thread of his cultivation base. Even the barest thread would let him access the treasures hidden within himself. Once he had those, he naturally had the means of treating his injuries!
As he pondered, Su Yi shifted his gaze to the distant altar.
It’s a pity, but without my god-level cultivation base, I cannot enter the hidden realm sealed within this spacetime rift. If I could, I might well be able to find treasures I could use to heal myself, thought Su Yi. He felt the urge to rub his forehead, but much to his frustration, he couldn’t even lift a finger, let alone his arm.
Su Yi let out a self-deprecating laugh. I really am no different from a cripple right now.
Two hours later, A’Ling rose with a radiant smile on her face. “Big Brother Xiao, it was just as you said! I broke through the bottleneck in my cultivation and seized the opportunity I needed to prove my Dao!”
Su Yi smiled. “In that case, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and break through.”
A’Ling jumped, as if suddenly coming to her senses. “You’re right! What am I waiting for?”
An extraordinary light appeared in her eyes, and her delicate figure took to the air.
Boom!
Tribulation clouds churned beneath the dome of heaven.
This was a tribulation of the Grand Dao that targeted peak Spiritual Revolution Realm cultivators. So long as she overcame it, she’d escape the bounds of the Spirit Dao and enter the Profound Dao!
Su Yi had long since grown accustomed to such tribulations, and he didn’t find it at all strange.
He just leaned against the boulder and silently watched as A’Ling waged a fierce battle against the descending tribulation light.
It was dangerous, too. The young woman repeatedly took injuries, and she was in terrible shape.
But Su Yi wasn’t worried. A’Ling had firm foundations in the Grand Dao, and over the past seven days of instructing her cultivation, he’d specifically focused on preparing her for her impending breakthrough.
There was no need to worry about her failing to overcome her tribulation.
Just as he thought, a little less than ten minutes later, the tribulation clouds broke and dispersed. A’Ling had successfully overcome her tribulation and entered the Profound Dao!
But then, Su Yi saw something that left him unwittingly stunned.
A’Ling stood beneath the dome of heaven. She’d only just broken through, and her whole body was undergoing an earth-shaking transformation.
Her delicate figure was bathed in brilliant Dao Light.
And Su Yi could clearly see the image of a Dao Sword-shaped spirit meridian floating behind her!
It was extremely indistinct, only barely discernible, and it looked as if it were condensed out of blood and qi.
Nine mysterious spirit apertures, each like a miniature whirlpool, appeared on the spirit meridian!
Is that… a Nine Apertures Sword Meridian!?
Even though Su Yi’s heart was as steady as iron, he couldn’t help but gasp. He felt a bit dazed.
Doesn’t that mean… that A’Ling is most likely… my descendant?
