First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 2129 - You’re Both My Master

Chapter 2129 – You’re Both My Master

Whap!

A crisp slap rang out.

The Dragon-Headed Daoist’s face was covered in countless minute scales, but this slap sent many of them flying. His mouth was crushed to a pulp, and blood spurted from his nose as he slammed to the ground several hundred feet away.

Su Yi didn’t find this at all strange. He put away the Sword of the Nine Hells and said, “So, you’re finally here, old-timer.”

As he spoke, the last of the seemingly endless tide of tribulation light poured into his body. His presence instantly transformed, like a sharp edge hidden in a sheath, simple and unassuming, yet elegant and extraordinary.

Now, he was truly a god!

“So, kid, you sensed my presence here a long time ago, huh?”

A lascivious-looking, scrawny old man appeared out of nowhere. This was none other than the River Lord.

There was no doubt about it. He was the one who’d sent the Dragon-Headed Daoist flying earlier.

“Actually, I didn’t sense you. I just figured you’d come.” Su Yi gazed intently at the River Lord. “After all, if anything happened to me, I’m afraid you’d be in for more than you bargained for.”

The River Lord was the god of the River of Epochs, and he’d protected the Epoch Spark for countless years on Su Yi’s first incarnation’s orders.

Moreover, in the battle at Heaven’s End Divine Mountain, Grandmaster Bodhi said that even if he hadn’t come, the River Lord would have rushed to Su Yi’s aid and ended the battle!

Given the circumstances, Su Yi had long since anticipated that the mysterious River Lord would appear at this moment of crisis. How could he remain a bystander?

The River Lord slapped his thigh and laughed bitterly. “You’ve sure got me figured out, kid!”

Meanwhile, beneath the dome of heaven, Su Yi’s third incarnation said, “Old-timer, can’t you see that I’m in danger too? Now that you’re here, shouldn’t you help me, too?”

The River Lord froze, then grimaced. “Argh! Both of you are my masters. How could a mere errand boy like me dare to refuse to assist you?”

With that, he leaped into the air, arrived beneath the dome of heaven, put his hands on his hips, and said in a voice that boomed like spring thunder, “Fuck your ancestors! Haven’t you had enough yet?”

His voice boomed far and wide, shaking the endlessness of time and space.

Di E and the other mysterious experts were stunned. Who is that old man? How dare he insult us like that?

Su Yi, however, was accustomed to such things. The River Lord was a pervert and a potty mouth. He didn’t care at all for comportment, and he was a master of all types of profanity.

What did surprise Su Yi was that his third incarnation obviously knew the River Lord. As soon as the River Lord arrived, he backed down as if incomparably convinced that the River Lord’s presence would be enough to resolve this.

“You’re seeking death, old man!” bellowed the tall, stalwart man in golden robes, swinging his fist at the River Lord from across endless time and space.

“Fuck your mother!” The River Lord roared and flung a treasure tower at him.

Boom!

The treasure tower expanded in midair, slamming into the golden-robed man’s fist force and shattering it. Then, it flashed through the air, crossing seemingly endless time and space to slam ruthlessly into the golden-robed man himself.

The impact left his forehead battered and bloodied. He clutched his head and scurried away like a rat, his cries of agony reaching the Ancient God Domain despite the endless time and space between them.

The crowd was stunned. How could this lascivious-looking old codger be this strong?

Su Yi, meanwhile, recognized the tower at a glance; it was there that he’d first acquired the Epoch Spark. So, it turns out that the Tower of Ancient Evils is quite the extraordinary weapon, too!

“If any of you still aren’t convinced, step forth, and I guarantee I’ll crush your skulls!”

The River Lord stretched out his hand, and the Tower of Ancient Evils appeared in his grip.

He was blatantly, aggressively provoking those mysterious experts from across endless time and space.

“I’d like to test that!”

Suddenly, that scholarly, handsome man glowered, stepped forth, and waved his hand through the air.

Boom!

A streak of divine light flashed into being and flew toward the River Lord.

Upon closer inspection, the light was, the light was actually a flying knife!

The River Lord let out a hideous laugh, then poured his strength into the Tower of Ancient Evil, shattering the flying knife into powder.

Splurt!

The elegant scholar coughed up blood.

Practically simultaneously, the Tower of Ancient Evils slammed into the scholar, suppressing him on the spot and practically crushing him!

Di E and the other mysterious experts finally lost their composure. They attacked in full force, and only then did they manage to block the Tower of Ancient Evils’ ferocious power and save the scholar.

Now, when they looked at the River Lord, their expressions were incomparably overcast.

“It’s a pity, but my true body cannot leave the River of Destiny. Were that not the case, how could I possibly let you act so wantonly?” The elegant scholar was overcome with fury, and his expression filled with loathing.

“Feh! If I didn’t have to watch over this place, going to the River of Destiny to kill your true body would be no more difficult than letting out a fart!” The River Lord sneered, then spat. “Come on, then! Is anyone else not convinced yet?”

He couldn’t have been any more arrogant.

The mysterious experts were increasingly enraged, and their expressions were increasingly unsightly, but in the end, all of them endured.

“I don’t care who you are. You’ll pay for ruining my plans!” Di E said coldly.

As he spoke, he and his companions vanished into thin air.

Immediately afterward, the corner of the River of Destiny reflected behind them vanished too.

“A pack of shameless old codgers thinks they can swoop in and steal another’s prize? They overestimate themselves!” The River Lord raised his hand and waved it through the air.

Boom!

Deep beneath the dome of heaven, that endlessly distant stretch of time and space vanished, obscured by dense layers of chaos clouds.

The turbulent power of the Laws returned to tranquility throughout the Path of the Ancient Gods. Just like that, the curtains fell on that seemingly apocalyptic cataclysm.

However, the inhabitants of the Ancient God Domain still struggled to remain calm. Everything that had happened earlier was far too shocking and unbelievable!

A Divine Tribulation had thrown the entirety of the Path of the Ancient Gods into upheaval, but more than that, it had drawn the attention of mysterious existences from afar. They’d even tried to intervene by force.

No one had anticipated this.

Atop the sixth divine tower.

By the time the River Lord returned, he’d recovered his usual lewd demeanor. He laughed and said, “Congratulations, Fellow Daoist. You’ve proven your Dao and stepped onto a new, unprecedented path!”

Su Yi’s third incarnation watched from not far away in silence. He had a complicated look on his face.

But Su Yi wasn’t the least bit concerned with his third incarnation’s feelings. He just asked, “Who were those guys?”

“A pack of old farts who’ve reached the River of Destiny. Each is more shameless than the one before. They actually thought they could run off with your Dao Fruit,” said the River Lord smugly. “Fortunately, I predicted this, and I came prepared. Otherwise, this variable might well have ruined your Path to Divinity.”

“You predicted this, huh?” Su Yi’s third incarnation said with a cold laugh. “So you arrived well before you intervened. In that case, why not come to my aid immediately?”

The River Lord stiffened, and his smile froze. He said awkwardly, “Fellow Daoist, with your strength, how could you possibly need me to meddle in your affairs?”

Su Yi’s third incarnation said coldly, “Remember this: he and I are both reincarnations of the same person. Since you serve our first incarnation, you cannot show favoritism!”

The River Lord smiled bitterly. “Next time for sure! And I promise not to interfere in the conflict between you two!”

Su Yi couldn’t help but sink into thought. The River Lord was working on his first incarnation’s behalf. He dared not offend Su Yi or his third incarnation. After all, they were originally the same person.

His third incarnation had just expressed his displeasure. He clearly thought the River Lord was biased.

Looking at it from another angle, as mighty as his third incarnation was, he cared deeply about the River Lord’s stance!

“That would be for the best. I’m competing against myself. Ultimately, one of us must die. Nothing could be more disrespectful to our first incarnation than getting mixed up in this,” Su Yi’s third incarnation said calmly.

He then turned to look at Su Yi. “I deduced some of the story a long time ago, but now, I finally understand. I was able to live to the present day… because of you.”

“Me?” Su Yi’s brow furrowed.

“That’s right.” His third incarnation said with an unreadable look on his face. “Don’t you think that to you, my existence is like a whetstone?”

Su Yi’s heart shook. He vaguely understood.

“From the moment you mastered reincarnation and acquired the Epoch Spark, you began down a path completely different from your past lives. That’s how you won the River Lord’s approval; he wouldn’t have led you to the Path of the Ancient Gods otherwise.

“Every trial you’ve encountered along the way, our first incarnation left for you.” His third incarnation pointed to himself. “That naturally goes for me too.”

A look of self-deprecation appeared on his face. “In other words… our first incarnation doesn’t think highly of me!”

He spoke without hatred or resentment. Instead, there was anger; he obviously wasn’t convinced.

The River Lord’s expression shifted, and he opened his mouth as if to argue, only for Su Yi’s third incarnation to interrupt. “Let me finish.”

He gazed intently at Su Yi. “I represent our first incarnation’s old path, and I ought to have vanished from existence a long time ago, but… now that I’ve gained a chance to live again, it doesn’t matter whether our first incarnation planned this or not. I’ll fight to the bitter end!

“You, meanwhile, represent the new path our first incarnation approved of. The moment you stepped into divinity, you began down a path starkly different from his.”

Here, his eyes shone with searing, sharp light. He said slowly and clearly, “I’ll just have to see whether your new path defeats me, or whether my path can replace yours! Only one of us can remain in the end!”

He spoke with staunch conviction.

In response, Su Yi merely subtly inclined his head. “I understand.”

He wasn’t flustered, nervous, or the least bit ill at ease. He just calmly accepted his third incarnation’s invitation to a life-or-death battle!

The River Lord looked on, a complicated look on his face, then sighed.

“You still don’t get it,” said Su Yi’s third incarnation. “You might have become a god, but to me, you aren’t even worth fighting yet.”

Su Yi couldn’t help but arch an eyebrow at that.

“I know you aren’t convinced, so allow me to show you… just how enormous the gap between us is.” His third incarnation whipped around, then walked toward the distant Dragon-Headed Daoist. “I hope that after you realize the extent of the disparity, you learn from your mistakes and grow stronger as soon as possible. When I leave the Path of the Ancient Gods, I’ll come looking for you!

“When the time comes, I won’t concern myself with your cultivation level, nor will I entertain any thoughts of fairness. I won’t show even the slightest mercy!”

The crowd had ignored the Dragon-Headed Daoist this entire time, but as he watched Su Yi’s third incarnation approach, his expression shifted.

He could sense an enormous impending threat. This didn’t bode well!
