First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1906: Grand Elixirs for Achieving Divinity

Xi Ning couldn’t disguise her disappointment.

The Book of Karma couldn’t divine her secrets. Now, not even the Threelives God Mirror could do the trick.

Combined, this made her increasingly aware of just how extraordinary the mysteries surrounding her were!

Perhaps it’s just as the Book of Karma said. When my cultivation increases, and I fully awaken the source of my talent, all will become clear.

When Xi Ning thought this, she couldn’t help but recall something else, too. It seemed highly likely that an unknown karmic thread existed between her and Su Yi!

Perhaps that answer would become clear later, too.

After a lengthy silence, the spearwoman suddenly asked, “What have you two come here in search of?”

Xi Ning froze, stunned, and hurriedly cast away her scattered thoughts. “I won’t lie to you, Senior. We came here in search of the secrets of the Spirit Martial Epoch.”

The Spirit Martial Epoch!

A strange light shone in the spearwoman’s eyes. “Not even the gods can uncover the truth of the Spirit Martial Epoch. I’m afraid you two are doomed to leave empty-handed.”

She paused, then added, “But then, this place is home to considerable good fortune that can assist you in achieving divinity.”

With that, she took out a secret map and passed it to Xi Ning. “This contains the location of a land of opportunity. So long as you proceed with caution, you should be able to acquire some of it. Take this as a token of my appreciation. But I urge you to leave this place immediately. Unpredictable changes are in store for the Place Abandoned by Heaven.”

Before her voice had even finished echoing through the air, the spearwoman drifted away, leaving Xi Ning and Luo Tiandu standing there in a daze.

“A’Ning, it seems that senior attaches great importance to you,” sighed Luo Tiandu.

Xi Ning knew that the sudden change in the spearwoman’s attitude was most likely connected to her secrets. She even suspected that the spearwoman had realized something.

That was why she’d taken it upon herself to express her goodwill.

“Come on, let’s find a place to treat our wounds,” said Xi Ning, saying no more on the matter.

Luo Tiandu considerately asked no further questions.

……

The spearwoman sank into thought in a fog-shrouded stretch of wilderness. “Xi Ning… How could someone like her appear within the Xi Family? Don’t tell me her ancestor is somehow connected to someone who transcended the River of Destiny?”

A long time passed before she grumbled, “Just as I thought. None of the people connected to that Su guy are normal. Not one of them! When the opportunity arises, I’ve got to fight him again and avenge myself!”

……

The White Reed Province.

A lively banquet was underway in the ruins of the Academy of Eternal Night.

Su Yi sat in the centermost seat.

Qing Wei, Immortal Queen Liu Yun, Immortal Kunwu, and many of his other old friends were there, as well as the Sword Fanatic, Li Xiehu, Gong Yuxun, and over a thousand others he’d brought back from the Immortal Peach Assembly. ꞦäŊỔBĘṤ

Their ranks included no small number of familiar faces.

Some were descendants of Wang Ye’s subordinates, while others were from clans that had served Wang Ye. The Church of the Pure One and their allies had taken them all hostage. Others still were dissenters, people who’d boldly stepped forth to object to Qi Nie’s ambitions.

Now, all of them had returned to the ruins of the Academy of Eternal Night with Su Yi. They had big business to discuss.

Su Yi had brought them here for one simple reason. He’d announced that he’d re-establish the Academy of Eternal Night in just three months’ time, and he naturally needed help.

The crowd clinked glasses, laughed, and chatted. From time to time, someone would offer Su Yi a toast.

Su Yi never refused.

The atmosphere was lively, but Su Yi could tell that Qing Wei, the Fang Siblings, and many others were increasingly awed in front of him. They couldn’t laugh and chat casually like they did before.

But then, this was to be expected. It wasn’t that his behavior had changed, but that as his cultivation grew and his strength soared, his old friends couldn’t keep up.

This was the disparity in status and position.

Su Yi wasn’t concerned about all that, but others were, and there was nothing he could do about it. This was what they meant when they said, “It’s lonely at the top.”

That made the friends and fellow Daoists he met along the way all the more rare and precious.

When the banquet ended, Su Yi entered the Spring and Autumn Space. He planned to cultivate in seclusion for a while.

He needed to take some time to steady his cultivation base and temper his powers of the Grand Dao.

He left the re-establishment of the Academy of Eternal Night to Liu Yun, Qing Wei, and the others.

……

The Spring and Autumn Space.

A year here corresponded to just a single day in the outside world. One could only go into seclusion here for one sixty-year cycle before they had to leave. That was equivalent to two months in the outside world.

Boom!

The Divine Replenishment Furnace was hard at work refining a mountain of immortal herbs and divine materials. Treasure light flowed through the air, an extraordinary holy scene.

Su Yi sat cross-legged to the side, sifting through the most precious of his spoils.

He’d slaughtered a throng of powerful enemies at the Immortal Peach Assembly, and he’d shattered Cloudsoar Peak. The Sword Fanatic and Li Xiehu had gathered the scattered trophies and delivered them all to Su Yi.

Only now did Su Yi finally have time to take inventory of his spoils. There were a lot of them, and their quality was startling. If any of these treasures were to appear in the outside world, countless people would scramble over it!

The reason for this was simple. The former owners of these treasures included experts of all three stages of the Great Realm, as well as Qi Nie, Xuan Zhong, and other leaders of top immortal factions. And more importantly, five divine children!

How could the belongings of experts at the pinnacle of the Immortal Realm possibly be ordinary?

Earlier, Su Yi had left the treasures suited for those beneath the Great Unity level to Qing Wei and Liu Yun as capital to rebuild the Academy of Eternal Night.

Even so, Su Yi was left with an enormous abundance of treasure. He had a mountain of divine materials, and immortal herbs numbering in the tens of thousands. There were numerous other immortal treasures of all types piled high in glimmering heaps!

Disregarding the rest, there were even twenty-six Great Profound Stage treasures!

But what really drew Su Yi’s attention were the trophies the five divine children had left behind. These people hailed from the God Domain. All of them had illustrious backgrounds, and they’d come to Immortal Realm tasked with various missions. Thus, all of them carried shocking wealth!

Of their belongings, it was the “grand elixirs for achieving divinity” that enticed him the most.

Within the Great Profound level, these medicinal herbs were all rare, unparalleled treasures, the type that could only be happened upon by chance. Some were so rare that they’d long since vanished from the Immortal Realm!

Su Yi didn’t even need to think to know that the divine children had brought these in preparation for their breakthroughs into divinity. They wouldn’t use them lightly.

But now, Su Yi would benefit from them instead.

“Five-Color Qilin Grass, Profound Cloud Essence, Nine Wonders Red Spirit Flowers… these unparalleled immortal medicines all vanished from the Immortal Realm long before the Age of Fallen Immortals…”

After taking inventory of the immortal herbs, Su Yi couldn’t help but sigh. The divine children really were rolling in dough!

All of them carried the type of medicinal herbs you could only happen upon by chance. Some, Wang Ye had never even seen before!

“With these, I won’t need to worry about cultivation resources anytime soon…” Su Yi was quite satisfied. He even started contemplating killing even more divine children. If he did, his harvest would surely be even greater!

It was just a pity that the divine children’s Epoch Treasures couldn't be acquired…

Eventually, Su Yi put his trophies away, cast aside his scattered thoughts, and focused on his cultivation.

It had only been a few months since he’d proven his Dao and become an Immortal King. Then, not long ago, he reached the Great Martial Stage on Spiritual Desolation Mountain. His rate of advancement was shocking and unheard of.

But that wasn’t without its disadvantages. He lacked tempering and steadiness accrued over time.

Despite having cultivated before the Dao Manifestation Chaos Stele numerous times over, he had yet to fully temper or stabilize his foundations in the Grand Dao.

Su Yi had to take this time to do just that!

……

In the outside world, ten days passed in a flash.

Ten years had passed within the Spring and Autumn Space.

The Divine Replenishment Furnace had finished refining all of the herbs and materials it could. It had benefited enormously in the process, making repeated breakthroughs in terms of quality. It was now roughly a Great Unity Stage treasure.

But its power wasn’t at all inferior to mighty Great Profound Stage immortal treasures!

Furthermore, it had fully recovered its former spirituality and even progressed beyond that. It was now as aware as could be.

While Su Yi focused on his cultivation, it took it upon itself to employ all manner of rare and precious materials to further enhance the Sword of the Human Realm.

……

Deep in the wilderness, one lost sight of the passage of time.

The same was true in the Spring and Autumn Space. Su Yi knew nothing of the passing seasons.

Finally, during his twentieth year of seclusion, the statue-like Su Yi slowly opened his eyes.

He’d stabilized his foundations in the Grand Dao, tempering and enhancing them to the limit possible with his current cultivation base.

His soul, physique, and even his mentality had undergone further tempering and strengthening.

“Your Excellency, here are fully refined immortal medicines.” The Divine Replenishment Furnace obsequiously approached to show him what it had done. “The Sword of the Human Realm’s quality has gone up. It’s now comparable to Great Profound Stage treasures!”

Su Yi accepted the medicines and inclined his head. “Don’t slack off. Keep at it.”

“Okay!” The Divine Replenishment Furnace straightforwardly agreed. It was the very picture of a devoted lackey.

Next, I’ve got to begin preparations for my breakthrough into the Great Unity Stage… thought Su Yi.

He got up, took out a jug of wine, and sprawled out in his wicker chair.

He’d carried this wicker chair throughout the years, ever since he began his cultivation in this lifetime. It was frequently immersed in the fluctuations of his power of the Grand Dao, which slowly transformed it into something extraordinary. It might have looked plain and unassuming, but it was imbued with the wondrous charm of the Dao!

This was to be expected.

When they accompanied top experts year in and year out, even the most ordinary of objects would transform into something greater.

Besides, Su Yi cherished his wicker chair. From time to time, he even took out divine materials to repair and enhance it, all for the sake of making it even more comfortable…

The wicker chair was naturally no longer an ordinary object. It was, in a sense, a treasure of the Grand Dao!

Were another immortal to acquire it, they could glean insight into numerous mysteries of the Grand Dao!

“Sixth Brother Book, tell me, how do I convince Third Brother Sword to accept me as its master?” Su Yi wispered, both treasures in front of him.

Since conversing with Li Fuyou’s Dao Imprint on Spiritual Desolation Mountain, Su Yi had discovered that he could use the Sword of Proximity.

The Sword of Proximity had given him enormous help, both when he fought Jia Yun and during the Immortal Peach Assembly. Yet precisely for that reason, there was one thing Su Yi struggled to understand: even now, the Sword of Proximity refused to accept him as its master.

It seemed to be saying, “I can play with you, but there’s absolutely no way I’ll agree to follow you!”
