Boom!
Sword qi swept outward like an unstoppable ripple, starting from the far reaches of the firmament and spreading through time and space, tearing countless holes in the barriers between worlds.
Quite some time passed before it dissipated.
Su Yi stood there in astonishment. Once slash, and he forced the gods to retreat!? Just what kind of unbelievable power does that take!?
“Li Fuyou! You, again! What does it take to get rid of you!?”
An infuriated, bitter roar resounded from across time and space. It came from the young Daoist wielding a wooden sword.
Li Fuyou!
Su Yi finally understood who the illusory figure hovering over the Sword of the Nine Hells was.
“You’re wrong,” the woman riding the Vermillion Bird said through gnashed teeth. “He died a long time ago, and his sword, Phoenix Song, is still suppressed on the Boundless Battlefield. This is no more than an imprint he left behind, and it will soon dissipate!"
“Alas, we just barely missed our chance.” The man who attacked with an entire star domain let out a long sigh.“The Path of Divinity will soon appear in the Immortal Realm. He doesn’t have long to live even if he’s Li Fuyou’s reincarnation!” said the gaunt monk expressionlessly. He was now as small as a mote of dust.
They conversed across an endless expanse of time and space. Su Yi couldn’t hear their voices.
All he saw was Li Fuyou swinging his sleeve.
Boom!
The Sword of the Nine Hells descended, and the endless tribulation clouds covering the dome of heaven shattered with a bang, transforming into a dazzling rain of the waters of heaven and pouring onto the world below. The visions reflected deep within the clouds vanished completely.
Suddenly, Su Yi noticed that Li Fuyou, who’d been facing away mere moments prior, had turned to look at him. Then he transformed into a wisp of light and disappeared into the Sword of the Nine Hells.
Immediately afterward, the Sword of the Nine Hells descended from the heavens and returned to his sea of consciousness.
Although it all happened in a flash, Su Yi still caught a clear glimpse of his fifth incarnation’s features.
He had a thin, clean-shaven face, youthful features, and eyebrows like swords. His temples were graying, and his eyes seemed as vast and deep as the starry sky. He really did cut a striking figure, with the air of one detached from worldly affairs and all their ups and downs. Having sloughed off the fetters of mundane life, there was a cold, aloof quality about him. He seemed distant and unapproachable.
Su Yi suddenly recalled how Lin Feng had described his master: Others could only look up to him. None could draw near!
Before Su Yi could give the matter any further thought, that boundless rain of tribulation light came crashing down, like the river of heaven coursing toward him and enveloping him completely. The tribulation dispersed, and heaven and earth returned to stillness. All strange phenomena and upheaval disappeared in a puff of smoke.
Only Su Yi remained standing beneath the dome of heaven, bathed in endless light, as dazzling as the sun. He almost seemed holy.
A line of text appeared on the Book of Karma’s pages. “Your tribulation actually lured the gods into battle. I didn’t realize how deep this karmic thread went. In his past life, who—”
Kcch!
Countless burn marks appeared on the page. The whole book seemed on the verge of catching on fire. But this time, the Book of Karma didn’t panic, nor did it lose its temper. After all, it had suffered numerous such backlashes, and it had grown accustomed to them. It simply erased the offending sentence.
Within the bronze palace.
The Sovereign of Sin and the other old monsters regained their mental clarity and exchanged glances. Bewilderment was written all over their faces.
What just happened? Was there a war between the gods? Did they suppress that sword? Did that Su kid die beneath his tribulation?
Their hearts and minds had been so thoroughly intimidated that all six of their senses were sealed off. They had no idea what had just happened. But even now, they felt lingering terror. Ȓã₦ỐBΕś
A moment later, someone cried out, “That’s… that’s!”
The others looked over and saw Su Yi standing beneath the heavens, bathed in an endless rain of light. He was like the sun, single-handedly illuminating heaven and earth.
The rain of light was so dazzling that earlier, even they couldn’t see Su Yi clearly. When they saw him, alive and well, all of them were dumbstruck.
Su Yi wasn’t dead after all!
That calamitous, terrifying Great Realm Grand Tribulation could have killed even Great Profound experts like them, yet it had failed to stop Su Yi from breaking into the Great Realm. Even more incredible, the gods who’d appeared from across time and space had somehow been forced back! Otherwise, how could Su Yi possibly be alive and kicking?
“How is this possible…” said one of the old monsters, their faces ashen and despondent.
“Just… what kind of person did we run into?” someone else asked in a daze.
How was this an Immortal King? What Immortal King could have overcome such a grand tribulation and left even the gods helpless against him?
These old monsters had proven their Dao in the Primeval Era, and they’d once served the gods. They naturally understood the gods’ terrifying power far better than most. Yet now, this young Immortal King, Su Yi, seemed even more secretive and unbelievable than the gods. He completely overturned their perception of reality!
“Don’t just stand there. Hurry up and run!” someone roared.
But he’d only just said this when he realized that the Sovereign of Sin had already charged out of the bronze palace. He was trying to escape Spiritual Desolation Mountain!
The other old monsters instantly panicked, but they dared not give the matter any further thought. All of them unleashed their forbidden techniques and fled with all their might, cursing their parents for not giving them a few extra pairs of legs.
None of them dared fight Su Yi any further. They didn’t even consider it.
All they wanted was to flee! The further the better!
Su Yi stood beneath the dome of heaven. He’d only just undergone tribulation and welcomed an earth-shaking transformation, but that didn’t mean he was unaware of the outside world.
Still, he did not give chase.
He didn't need to. A certain someone was even less willing to let the Divine Venerate’s dogs escape with their lives.
Boom!
A treasure ship billowing with chaos energy blocked the Sovereign of Sin’s path.
One strike, and heaven and earth seemed to collapse. The sky was thrown into disarray, and chaos energy sent the Sovereign of Sin flying backward. He practically plummeted from the heavens.
Practically simultaneously, chaos light shot forth like divine chains, enveloping the dome of heaven and sealing off all possible escape routes!
Bang bang bang!
A rapid-fire series of explosions rang out, intermingled with curses and cries of agony.
No matter which direction the old monsters tried to flee in, it was as if they’d hit an invisible wall. It forced them back on impact.
“The Sky-Covering Boat!!” The Sovereign of Sin’s heart sank.
The other old monsters looked stricken too. They recognized this as an Epoch Treasure, one of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos.
Someone asked in a quavering voice, “So, that treasure was here all along. But doesn’t that mean that Sword Sovereign Lin Feng…”
But before he could finish his sentence, a cold, indifferent voice rang out. “That’s right. I’m still alive!!”
Lin Feng appeared on board the Sky-Covering Boat. His eyes glinted like unparalleled sharp swords as he swept his gaze across the Sovereign of Sin and the others. He made no attempt to hide the monstrous murderous intent and bitter hatred emanating from him.
These were the old-timers who’d worked with Divine Venerate Tian Huang to attack Spiritual Desolation Mountain and kill Lin Feng’s fourth junior apprentice brother, Sword Sovereign Dong Xuan. They’d even pilfered practically all of the mountain’s treasures!
“Not one of you will escape today,” said Lin Feng, slowly and emphatically. His voice resounded throughout heaven and earth.
Boom!
He steered the Sky-Covering Boat and shot toward his first target—the Sovereign of Sin.
“Don’t panic, everyone! He’s just a soul body, and that Su guy just underwent tribulation. He has no attention to spare for anyone else. All we need to do is work together and seize this opportunity. I’m sure we can clear a path to life!” bellowed the Sovereign of Sin.
Meanwhile, he’d already attacked. He drew upon everything he’d been keeping in reserve and fought with all his might.
The other old monsters obviously understood how urgent the situation was. How could they not?
All of them attacked like mad.
Kaboom!
A grand battle broke out.
But for all their planning and calculations, they’d severely underestimated the power of the Sky-Covering Boat.
Even though Lin Feng was “just” a soul body, he had the Sky-Covering Boat, one of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos. This let him display power terrifying beyond imagination.
Bang!!!
In the blink of an eye, their encirclement broke. Turbulent chaos power swept outward like countless tentacles, binding the Sovereign of Sin from head to toe. He was trapped in midair.
He panicked and cried out in terror, “Lin Feng, every debt has its debtor. We weren’t the ones who killed your junior apprentice brother. It was Divine Venerate Tian Huang’s avatar of will. You…”
Boom!
The Sky-Covering Boat charged, boring through him like an ice pick. The trapped Sovereign of Sin died on the spot.
Even his soul exploded!
“You're the dogs of an evildoer. Your death is unworthy of pity,” said Lin Feng, his gaze cold and his heart set on avenging his grudges.
Meanwhile, the other old monsters’ courage failed them, and they turned to flee.
But Spiritual Desolation Mountain existed within an independent hidden realm, and the road ahead was sealed off. There was nowhere to run. All they could do was dart about like headless flies!
The most ridiculous part was that someone tried to return to the bronze palace…
Lin Feng showed no mercy. He steered the Sky-Covering Boat and continued the massacre.
Bang!
Before long, yet another Great Profound Stage old monster had been killed on the spot with a spray of blood.
“You don’t dare to fight Divine Venerate Tian Huang, so you’re venting your fury on us instead. Sword Sovereign Lin Feng, you’ve brought shame on your master, Sky Venerate Spiritual Desolation!” someone cried out hysterically.
Bang!!
He too met with disaster. The Sky-Covering Boat unleashed a swath of chaos energy, shattering him into pieces and dispersing his soul.
The other two old monsters didn’t escape either. Lin Feng mercilessly slew them where they stood.
Now, all of the Great Profound Stage experts who’d once served Divine Venerate Tian Huang had been killed, dead after countless years of confinement. But Lin Feng felt none of the delight of a grudge finally avenged.
He plopped onto the deck of the Sky-Covering Boat and stared blankly at the skies stained red with his enemies’ blood. He then looked at the ransacked Spiritual Desolation Mountain, his heart full of indescribable grief and despondency.
So what if he’d killed his enemies? That wouldn’t bring his fourth senior apprentice brother back to life. And Spiritual Desolation Mountain would never be what it once was…
But when Lin Feng looked at Su Yi and saw him standing beneath the dome of heaven bathed in endless light, a hint of excitement appeared amidst his grief and melancholy.
Right! He still had his master! His master might have reincarnated, and he might not have reawakened the memories of his past life yet, but in a sense, he was here, alive and well!
