First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1854: I Won’t Rest Until My Enemy Is Dead

This unexpected development involved the Book of Karma.

Gu Yunchan tried to use the Book of Karma to block Su Yi’s slash, only for it to forcefully knock away his fingers and break free of his grip.

It broke free with such force that Gu Yunchan’s retreating figure slowed momentarily.

Meanwhile——

Clang!!!

The golden fishing rod shook violently as the tyrannical blade qi knocked it aside. Then, the Crescent Moon Blade’s power continued, its strength undiminished, as it cleaved directly into Gu Yunchan.

Splurt!

The blade left a gash that extended from Gu Yunchan’s shoulders to his belly. It was so deep that even his bones were visible.

A waterfall of blood gushed forth. He’d practically been disemboweled!

And that wasn’t the end of it. That tyrannical blade qi invaded Gu Yunchan’s body, practically mincing his internal organs. The agony was so intense that he couldn’t help but let out a muffled grunt.

Su Yi didn’t even hesitate to swing the blade once more, but before he could, he caught a glimpse of a line of text out of the corner of his eye.

“Hurry up and throw the blade away!”

Su Yi’s pupils constricted, but he did as the Book of Karma told him and threw the Crescent Moon Blade away.

Boom!

The Crescent Moon Blade seemed to come to life. When Su Yi tossed it, it spun around in midair, stirring up terrifying blade light, and swept at Su Yi, pulping his left arm. The entire limb was rendered useless.

Su Yi had planned to seize the opportunity to end Gu Yunchan once and for all, but this development threw a wrench in his plans.

He looked at the Crescent Moon Blade, but it had already blurred into a beam of light. It shot into the distant skies and disappeared.

Su Yi’s expression darkened. All that planning, but he had never even considered the possibility that that divine blade would turn on him.

But before he could give the matter any further thought, the Magnetic Origin Light descended upon him.

At a critical juncture, the Book of Karma took to the skies and shielded Su Yi. A line of text arose on its pages. “This lofty one shall give Third Brother Sword face and save your life just this once!”

Su Yi ignored it.

“Haha, you fool! Qing Wu’s Crescent Moon Blade was the work of a god. How could an Immortal King like you possibly control it?”

Off in the distance, Gu Yunchan burst into uproarious laughter. He was badly injured, and his body was completely covered in blood, yet his expression was full of mockery.

Su Yi took a deep breath, and his eyes glinted with cold light. “I can kill you even without a divine treasure!”

Clang!

The Sword of the Human Realm appeared in his grip, and he struck once more.

Gu Yunchan wasn’t just badly injured. The power of negative karma had corroded his cultivation base. This was the perfect opportunity to kill him.

Su Yi couldn’t tolerate him just running away.

“Want to fight?” Gu Yunchan’s smile froze in place. “I might be badly injured, but aren’t you, too? If you stop here…”

Boom!

Su Yi swung his sword and attacked.

The Six Paths Sword Wheel!

Sword qi reminiscent of the Netherworld took to the sky, and the cycle of the six paths appeared within it. There was a hint of the Sword of the Nine Hells’ aura in the mix, too.

Gu Yunchan swung his golden fishing rod and clashed with it head-on.

Clang!!

Sword and fishing rod clashed, heaven and earth split, and the sky was thrown into upheaval. All of the Magnetic Origin Light in the surrounding area was swept away.

Su Yi took about a dozen steps back, blood gushing from the corners of his lips. His qi had practically shattered on impact.

It was just as Gu Yunchan said. Su Yi was badly injured too. His battle with Qing Wu had left him riddled with wounds.

Moreover, the golden fishing rod’s hook had penetrated his flesh. In the end, Su Yi drew upon the Sword of the Nine Hells and broke free, but he’d still been injured in the process.

And of course, the Crescent Moon Blade had just crippled his left arm!

At this point, if you just compared their injuries, he wasn’t better off than Gu Yunchan at all.

But Su Yi didn’t care. He wasn’t afraid to die, so how could he possibly concern himself with a few injuries?

Gu Yunchan hadn’t gotten off lightly during their last clash. His already battered form was on the verge of falling apart, and he looked wretched to the extreme.

Worst of all, his cultivation base wouldn’t be able to suppress the power of karma much longer!

“Little wretch! Next time I see you, I’ll rip your corpse into pieces!” Gu Yunchan’s face was ashen as he turned to flee.

Boom!

Su Yi attacked once more, drawing on the Tree of All Worlds to instantly appear in Gu Yunchan’s path and intercept him.

Gu Yunchan’s eyes were bloodshot, his expression utterly murderous as he swung his golden fishing rod.

He could tell what Su Yi was trying to do, and he refused to get tangled up in it. Thus, he struck without reservation and tried to get past him.

A grand battle broke out.

Su Yi didn’t clash with him head-on. Instead, he darted nimbly about the battlefield. No matter how terrifying Gu Yunchan’s attacks, Su Yi dodged them all by a hair.

This left Gu Yunchan so furious that steam practically billowed out of the seven apertures of his face, and he was increasingly frantic.

In the end, he went all out and used even his collection of divine talismans.

Boom! Boom!

Heaven and earth swayed. Everything shook on all sides.

But this still wasn’t enough to take Su Yi down. He just cut through most of the divine talismans, and only a few actually struck him. These, he simply neutralized one by one with his power over reincarnation.

“I said it already. You won’t escape!” Su Yi’s gaze was distant, calm, and terrifyingly cold. He was badly injured, and his cultivation base was on the verge of running dry, but he didn’t show any mercy. Instead, he stuck to Gu Yunchan like glue.

Gu Yunchan was overcome with fury, enraged to the brink of madness. In all his years of cultivation, this was his first time encountering such a troublesome opponent. He couldn’t even imagine how Su Yi, an Immortal King, could be this ridiculously strong.

But he had no time to give the matter any further thought. His wounds were increasingly severe, and he wouldn’t be able to suppress the karmic power invading his body for much longer. He had to break past Su Yi!

“Die!” Gu Yunchan’s eyes were bloodshot as he shot ahead with all his might.

The entire time, Su Yi tried his utmost to intercept him despite facing a terrifying onslaught. His injuries were piling on too. But he didn’t care in the slightest.

He was a sword cultivator!

He wasn’t concerned about life and death, so what was there to be afraid of?

He was a sword cultivator!

When it came time to determine victory and defeat, as well as life and death, he wouldn’t shrink back in the slightest!

Crunch!

The battle was so fierce that the Sword of the Human Realm snapped. As it turned out, it really was weaker than the golden fishing rod.

When it snapped, Su Yi suffered the resulting backlash. Blood gushed from the corners of his mouth, and throughout his body, his vital energy felt as if it were on the verge of collapse.

But he disregarded this, and his expression never once wavered. He just gripped his broken sword and fought on!

Gu Yunchan was on the verge of losing it. He could never have imagined that Su Yi would be such a troublesome opponent. He was trying his best to break free, but Su Yi thwarted him at every turn.

Divine talismans were useless.

Even the ultimate killer move he kept in reserve was useless.

But then, Gu Yunchan knew full well that although Su Yi was indeed a troublesome opponent, that was secondary. More importantly, he himself was rapidly weakening!

He’d been severely injured right from the start. When the Book of Karma attacked him, it gave Su Yi an opening to exploit!

Suddenly, Gu Yunchan roared, “Su Yi! Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten how Qing Wu lashed out before she died? Aren’t you afraid I’ll do the same if you push me into a corner?”

But the only answer he got from Su Yi was an explosive slash. Su Yi had no hesitation, nor did he have any reservations. He naturally wasn’t the least bit afraid of Gu Yunchan’s threats.

The calmer Su Yi was, the more panicked Gu Yunchan felt, and the less he wanted to tangle with Su Yi. He was struggling desperately to break past Su Yi.

One hundred feet.

One thousand feet.

Ten thousand feet.

He gradually fought his way out of the region covered in Magnetic Origin Light.

Along the way, Su Yi relentlessly tried to intercept him, repeatedly shattering his offensive. Su Yi’s wounds couldn’t have been any worse, but he never gave up.

Similarly, Gu Yunchan repeatedly tried to catch him off guard, and his wounds piled on, too. He left a trail of blood in his wake.

Their battle was unquestionably brutal. Anyone who saw it would have felt chills course through their hearts.

“Scram!!” Gu Yunchan bellowed and waved his golden fishing rod, trying to break Su Yi’s attempts at interception once more. “You think you can kill me? That’s nothing but the ravings of a madman!”

Gu Yunchan’s face was hideously contorted as he tried to charge out of the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea.

But Su Yi gave chase once more.

His sword was broken; only half the blade remained. Moreover, his body was such a battered, meaty pulp that even his bones were visible.

His gaze was utterly calm and composed. It never so much as wavered, but on the inside, his cultivation base was almost depleted, and the Tree of All Worlds was running out of power too.

A line of text appeared on the Book of Karma’s pages. “If you keep going like this, you’ll die!”

It could obviously tell how serious Su Yi’s situation was, and it couldn’t help but warn him. “Heed my advice. Why fight to the death over a little pissant like him? Why not just kill him later?”

Su Yi disregarded it. In his shoes, just about anyone would have given up a long time ago, but he’d do no such thing. He’d decided to kill his enemy, so he wouldn’t give up until the bitter end.

If he found an excuse to retreat and said “I’ll get them next time” every time he encountered a powerful foe… would he still be a sword cultivator?

Both in battle and in cultivation, continuously retreating would only make someone increasingly mediocre. Someone like that certainly couldn’t speak of “forging valiantly ahead,” nor could they claim to be “unafraid to die.”

Boom!

His offensive was weakening. His attacks were far weaker than before. But his ruthless determination would have intimidated just about anyone.

Gu Yunchan laughed derisively. “You can’t cut it!”

He could sense Su Yi’s condition, and it was obvious he wouldn’t last much longer.

As he spoke, he raised his golden fishing rod into the air, but it was then that…

Boom!!!

Bright red mist surged out of Gu Yunchan’s badly battered body.

This was the power of karmic attachment. All of it erupted at once!

“No! No—” Gu Yunchan’s smile froze in place, and he shrieked in terror and struggled like mad, desperately trying to escape the blood-red mist.

But it was to no avail. His flesh sloughed off, and his bones snapped. It was as if he were a burning candle.

Su Yi was charging at him, but when he saw this, he abruptly stopped in his tracks. The depths of his calm, profound gaze lit up. Finally… he couldn’t take it anymore!

Bang!

Gu Yunchan’s physical body fell apart.

His soul fled right in the nick of time, only for the red power of karma to envelop it, too.

“Dammit! Su Yi, don’t even think of getting complacent! Even if I die, I’ll drag you down with me!” Gu Yunchan’s soul roared in fury, his face hideously contorted as he charged explosively at Su Yi.

In the last moments before her death, Qing Wu, then just a soul body herself, had lashed out at Gu Yunchan.

Now, Gu Yunchan had similarly chosen to go all out. He was aiming for mutual destruction!

But Su Yi had anticipated this, and he retreated explosively the instant Gu Yunchan lunged at him.

At the same time, he didn’t hesitate to use the Book of Karma as a shield.

The Book of Karma was at a loss for words. Do you seriously have no manners?!
