Out of the corner of her eye, Seras glanced at her mother.
Kirina had declared that she wanted to help her daughter get dressed and the vampire dragon could not find words to refuse her.
While the two were certainly not enemies, their mother daughter relationship had long been eroded over the course of several centuries.
This was the first time in over 500 years that the two had even been in the same room together.
"Are you nervous, my daughter? Your husband is about to become king of an entire race, and you one of it's queens." Kirina delicately draped a thin black veil over her daughter's shoulders and stepped back to admire her outfit.
Seras wore a ravishing black dress with a deep cut down the center that exposed her cleavage and muscled abdomen.
The dress was cut at an angle at the bottom so that her pure white legs and large tail could both breathe freely without any sort of restraint.
On her ring finger, she wore the same ring of repulsion that he gave to all of his wives, and it served as a symbol of just how far their relationship had progressed since their first meeting.
"There is nothing to be nervous about." Seras replied flatly.
Kirina nodded, expecting such an answer as she moved to brush her daughter's hair. "You have become so beautiful... I'm sure your father has been beside himself with worry ever since you advanced to the 5th stage."
"I have not seen father in ten years. I doubt he's heard of my evolution, or even knows that I've gotten married for that matter."
This admittedly came as a bit of a shock to Kirina, however she elected not to pry.
She did not wish to spoil this happy day by prying into the affairs of her daughter and her supposed husband.
"I see... Well you have chosen quite the splendid husband. His looks, power, and potential are all frighteningly-"
"None of those have anything to do with why I fell in love with Abaddon." Seras interrupted.
"Oh... Then why did you?"
The hybrid woman silently wondered how she should answer that question, or if she should even answer it at all.
The answer was tied with her own familial struggles after all.
"It's... not important."
Seras finally stopped looking at herself in the mirror and prepared to meet the rest of her family, when Kirina suddenly grabbed her wrist.
"Seras... I know that I've made some mistakes but I hope that you will allow me the opportunity to make up for them. I truly do not desire any more from you than that."
"We... shall see what the future holds."
Seras quickly pulled away from her mother and exited the dressing room, leaving Kirina with a small smile on her face.
It wasn't much, but she knew her daughter well enough to know that she had just extended a proverbial olive branch.
Now, all she had to do was put in the work to mend their relationship.
-
It didn't take Seras very long to find the rest of her family minus her husband, and everyone was so immaculately dressed that she couldn't help but feel her eyes sparkle.
"You all look so beautiful!"
Naturally, all of Abaddon's wives had demanded to be present for his coronation.
All seven of them were adorned in immaculate dresses made with only the finest craftsmanship and they could not have looked more queenly if they tried.
"You look great too!"
"I love your dress!"
"I'm jealous your boobs look so much bigger than mine."
"Everyone's boobs are bigger than yours Lailah..."
While the wives engaged in pleasant and lighthearted small talk, the kids were all circled around the family pet, Entei.
"Apophis... why did you do this to him?" Thea asked as she stared at the embarrassed looking guardian lion.
"Our mothers said that everyone had to dress nicely. I thought dog should be included."
"He's not a dog!" Mira reminded.
"Apologies, sister... I thought that Entei should be included."
Mira nodded in satisfaction as she looked at the beast that was bigger than even a bear.
"I think he looks cute!"
"I think he looks embarrassed..."
"I still think he looks like a dog."
The beast in question didn't look all that different from it's usual appearance.
The only difference was that now he was wearing a black bowtie around it's neck.
Entei looked down at his paws in utter embarrassment.
He was a great guardian beast!
He was not something to be dressed up like a children's toy!
His pride had been stepped on!
He wanted to burn the dreadful thing away with his black flames, but one look into the eyes of Apophis made him realize that doing such a thing would be unwise.
Mira started rubbing the great beast on it's belly and it seemingly forgot all about it's dislike of it's bowtie.
"Such a cute boy! Mira loves Entei so much!"
"Groh." ( I don't want to be cute.)
"Then you can be handsome!"
In response, the beast nodded in satisfaction and nuzzled against Mira's cheek.
Despite the cuteness of this scene, both Apophis and Thea were staring at their younger sister like she'd just grown a second head.
"Umm... Mira?"
"Hm?"
"Can you... understand him?"
Mira tilted her head cutely as if she did not understand. "Yes, can't you?"
The two older siblings merely looked at each other and shrugged before simply assuming that maybe their sister was just imagining things.
They spent a bit more time playing with their massive pet before the doors to the great hall creaked open and they knew it was time for the ceremony to begin.
Abaddon strode inside, trailed silently by his six vampire lords in addition to his sister in law Isabelle.
In his bright red robe and ceremonial skirt, Abaddon looked very kingly despite his relaxed and aloof demeanor.
Unsurprisingly, he was immediately swarmed by his family and showered with compliments.
"You look amazing, honey."
"Daddy looks so cool!"
As Abaddon basked in the warmth and affection of his family, a huge smile spread across his face.
Today he would evolve into a second stage being, and with that evolution would come a little bit more assurance that he could continue to experience more scenes like this in the future.
Suddenly, Thea noticed her father looked a bit different from usual. "Father? Your hair is..."
"Ah." Abaddon reached out and inspected his long hair that had returned to it's previous blood red. "I quite liked the black, but I've recently been persuaded to change it back."
"Persuaded?"
Abaddon pulled out a hastily written note from his pocket.
It was a petition from all of his wives to change his hair back to it's original blood red color.
Signed by everyone except Seras, he found it horribly amusing that his wives favored his hair so much that they created an entire petition to get him to change it back.
And judging by the looks on their faces, they were all incredibly happy with this result.
They were all staring at him like they were going to devour him at any second, and he was sure that they would have if there had not been others present.
Bekka : "I knew the petition was a good idea..."
Eris : " I must admit, your genius is to be applauded."
Valerie : "He's too stimulating like this... I think I'm going to need to get more underwear."
As a response, Abaddon merely smiled and kissed all of his wives once. "What silly women I have."
He wanted to bask in this mood for forever but unfortunately, business had to come first.
"My king, it is time." Faust reminded gently.
Suddenly, Abaddon's warm and loving personality retreated behind his cold and aloof shell, leaving the six vampire lords to wonder if their new king was bipolar.
The dragon nodded and in a moment, blaring trumpets began to play outside the balcony where he would address the people.
Audrina came to stand beside him, wearing a smile as bright as all of the stars in the sky.
"Are you ready, my love?"
As a response, he flashed her a small smile before taking her hand in his and moving towards the balcony doors.
