First Demonic Dragon

Chapter 1016 - 1016: The Thor That Ended Ragnarok

The multiverse has it’s constants, as do all things. But it doesn’t mean that it never deviates from trodden paths.

Infinite realms, infinite possibilities.

Just as it is likely that things will proceed the way they are ‘fated’ to, it is equally likely that they will veer off their intended path due to any small variable.

Among the countless stories of the multiverse, there is a story that, while not necessarily unique, is quite harrowing.

When the Gjallerhorn is blown, the Horsemen ride, and the Trihexa crawls from the sea, the End War begins.

In one particular timeline, it is Thor, not Odin, who leads the Norse pantheon into battle.

The battle against Jormungandr, while it should have resulted in the death of both beings, sees a much different resolution.

The god of thunder, though grievously wounded, remains standing.

Battle-hardened but not defeated, Thor leads the Nordic deities to victory in the End War.

The end of the war marks the rise of the Nordic pantheon as the patron gods of the new humanity- allowing the Nords to mold them in their image.

To humanity, he is God King Thor. Hammer of the Aesir, Crusher of Serpents, and the Mightiest of the Gods.

And his might is said to be as boundless as the sky itself.

“I was… trying to avoid things coming to this sort of climax. I didn’t come here to fight you, child.”

The air was charged with so much static electricity that Thrudd’s body hair had begun standing up on it’s own.

Arcs of lightning fell from the sky as booming thunder shook the terrain.

The shards of the destroyed mjlnir encircled their master.

A strange energy passed from metal to man, and with it, Thor underwent a surprising metamorphosis.

The nine-foot giant grew even further, and his rotund figure was replaced with a powerful physique that was barely held within his armor.

A blinding flash of light struck Musphelheim again, and Thor was granted a new hammer. One over twenty feet tall, and composed entirely of lightning.

“I am trying to save you, child. You may not see it now, but I assure you my words ring true. If I must best you to break the spell over your mind, then I will do so.”

A lone tear fell from Thor’s electrified eyes.

“Forgive me…”

The hammer fell from the sky in a wide arc.

Thrudd set her jaw in place. Her shoulders never tensed up, and the look in her eyes didn’t become any less hostile.

Thor’s hammer started to descend upon her.

Just as quickly as it started to fall, it halted.

Thor looked up at the dark sky toiling above them.

From beyond the clouds, a hand made of violet lightning and thunder held Thor’s hammer firm.

When he looked down again, Thrudd was practically see-through. Just as much there as she was not.

Thor had heard tales of just what class of being his daughter had ended up as. Now that he was seeing it in person, it felt even more difficult to believe.

The woman he was staring at now was far removed from the child he had lost so long ago.

“Look… I’m willing to let you escape because you’re clearly in mourning. Even taking your present company into account… but if you continue to act as if you have some sort of connection with me, then this place becomes your tomb.”

Some of the members of the order finally realized that Thrudd might have been in need of their assistance as well.

The magic of different types and varieties fell upon Thor like hail.

He made no real moves to defend himself. If the magic drew blood, he would allow it to do so.

His eyes never wavered from Thrudd. They were sentimental. Determined.

She could tell that her words had been wasted on him.

“So be it then.”

Thor wrested his hammer free and swung at the vision of his daughter once again.

This time, Thrudd made no moves to defend herself and instead turned her head towards the sky and roared.

Zheng, who was engaged in a battle of his own, became even paler when he recognized the sound.

“Thrudd, no!”

However, it was too late.

Thrudd called down a torrential monsoon from the sky. Lightning and thunder struck the ground as frequently as raindrops, ravaging the terrain.

Zheng threw out his hand and cast a spell at the last second.

Instead of the water hitting the ground, the water bounced back up and went towards the sky.

It was niche and difficult magic. However, it would only last for around an hour or so.

Hopefully, things would be over by then.

“Ooh, that looks fun.” One of the masked women chuckled. “Be a shame if something happened to it, though.”

“Yes, a true shame.” Her twin nodded.

Zheng’s brow creased.

Cackling madly, the two of them switched their attack targets from Zheng to the ground underneath them.

They fired bolts of antimatter at the ground.

Gritting his teeth, Zheng spread his shadows along the ground to protect his spell.

Which seemed to be exactly what the twins wanted him to do.

“Got ya!”

“So gullible!”

Magic circles appeared around Zheng’s actual body.

Bolts of anti-magic tore through his form from head to toe, drawing blood and eating through his magic reserves.

A line of blood dribbled down his lip.

“Damn, I hate anti-magic…”

The spell he’d just cast to protect the realm from going dark? It’s battery life had just been cut down to a fourth.

It would take him an hour to get his full magical might back.

“Don’t worry, Zheng, I got this!” Thrudd’s disembodied voice said.

On her marching orders, the storm raging around them shifted suddenly.

Thrudd’s form evaporated, and the masses of water and clouds took the form of winged women on horseback.

They wielded lances and swords made from lightning. Their very breaths channeled the storm around them.

As the rain fell, it fueled them. Made them larger and almost more alive.

Thor watched hundreds spring up in a second. He blinked, and they numbered a hundred thousand more.

And their numbers just kept growing…

Zheng let out an impressed whistle. “And here I thought you were just being reckless… here’s a little apology.”

Zheng whistled again, and Thrudd’s valkyrie warriors were suddenly covered in armor made of shadow. The pegasi they rode received a little upgrade as well.

“Won’t last long.”

“I don’t need them to.”

Zheng looked up at the sky.

There, a colossal figure made from red thunder clouds and violet lightning was gradually taking shape.

It gave itself dreaded wings that were so horrifically large that they covered the sky behind it.

One could make out Thrudd’s face on the figure, but she was different. Her horns were longer, and her glowing hair floated above her head.

She possessed no mouth, but her voice could be heard all the same.

Wielding a giant sword and shield, she pointed it first at her father, and then at the masked women staring at her in awe.

“EXECUTE THEM!”

Her valkyries yelped back in response.

Thrudd readied his hammer as he was quickly besieged by winged women and their mounts.

He swung his weapon in a wide arc to give himself space from their initial onslaught.

It was his expectation that he would smash the fabricated warriors with ease since they were effectively mindless drones.

But he learned quickly that his expectations meant fuck all.

The warrior women avoided his attack thoughtfully. They didn’t simply run into his hammer like the fodder he thought they were.

They were smart. Filled with instinct.

Sentient.

Thor’s awe was difficult to put into words. His daughter was strong, very strong.

Unbeknownst to Thrudd, she was creating an obsession in Thor.

For the god who saw himself as the strongest variant among all of his counterparts, he felt he rightfully deserved to have the strongest daughter by his side.

And the more he thought about it, over and over again, he developed visions of grandeur surrounding them.

Together, they would be unstoppable. None would dare to challenge their combined might.

They could even dispose of all of the other pantheons together. And who would be so brazen as to attempt to stop them?

Thor would do anything to make that dream a reality.

He let out his own war cry.

The ground underneath their feet rumblled, and gouts of magma sprang up from the ground like hellish geysers.

Some of Thrudd’s vakyries were accidentally struck by the magma.

They let out shrill screams as their bodies burst into vapor. Thrudd cackled loudly at his small ‘victory’.

“Splendid, daughter! Show me more of the woman you’ve become! Show me just how much you’ve grown-“

Thrudd roared and plunged the tip of her sword toward Thor.

He lifted his hammer to defend himself from being turned into an ugly red kebab.

But something happened when the two great weapons collided.

A deafening explosion rang out. And a surge of energy ensued that knocked nearby friend and foe out of the sky.

Zheng had been knocked onto his back for the first time in thousands of years.

As he coughed and sat up, his jaw dropped when he saw the ocean-sized tench he was now sitting in.
