“What a terrifying monster!” Zi Lian remarked in a low voice, raising his long and sharp gleaming blades, that reflected his increasingly calm and serene eyes.
However, the next moment, his expression became serious, seemingly sensing something.
*Rooooaar…* A sudden thunderous roar shook the entire Void Space.
In fact, it could not actually be called a roar, but a sharp shriek that shook the Soul.
In that instant, the Spiritual Energy surging around Zi Lian suddenly collapsed, and Zi Lian was knocked out of his senses.
In his moment of daze, Zi Lian felt a strong gust of wind struck him, as if a tsunami would crash into him at any moment.
*Hmph…* Zi Lian let out a cold snort as he fiercely opened his eyes that glowed with a gleaming purple light. At the same time, amidst the oncoming ripples, Zi Lian’s figure constantly flickered, constantly closing in on the front like an assassin.
Meanwhile, if one focused their attention on the other side of the battlefield, they would notice the hideous and gargantuan monster raising its claws and slapping it towards Zi Lian.
Its monstrous claw, the sight of it coming down felt as if the sky was collapsing. Its shadow covered the entire sky.
Unfortunately, its opponent happened to Zi Lian, Misty Mountains’ best and strongest assassin, who was extremely difficult to tackle. His sharp senses and speed that was beyond common sense were enough to break this monster’s calculation.*Whoosh, whoosh…* Using the ability — Void Jumps, that allowed Zi Lian to move from one place to another like teleportation, Zi Lian’s figure constantly disappeared.
In the next moment, when he reappeared, he was standing on the ginormous claw that was slapping down towards Zi Lian’s previous location.
…
At this instant…
*Tap, tap, tap…* Zi Lian’s figure promptly dash over the ginormous purple claw, leaving a trail of afterimages.
However, Zi Lian’s body was too small compared to this gargantuan monster, even referring them to an Ant and an Elephant was not enough to describe the size difference between the two.
The most apt description should be a microorganism and an Elephant. The two bodies were completely not in the same dimension.
Yet, Zi Lian was not afraid at all: With a smile, Zi Lian ran on this purple continent, constantly rushing towards the sky, targeting the vital point – the head.
“Kill…” With a thunderous war cry, Zi Lian waved his arms, drawing a cross that shot straight ahead.
The cross grew bigger and bigger as it traveled, growing to the size of a hundred meters or even a kilometer in the blink of an eye, before striking on a peak that had suddenly sprouted from the purple continent.
At this moment, from a distance, one would see that this peak was actually one of the enormous monster’s bone spurs. When the gargantuan monster noticed Zi Lian leaping around its claw, dense bone spikes had sprouted from the monster’s claws, constantly attacking Zi Lian.
However, Zi Lian’s slash was nothing to scoff off either: Almost ignoring defenses, it cut through the purple mountain peak with a clear and crisp swish. The upper portion of the peak slid sideways, revealing a mirror-like cut.
Leveraging this, Zi Lian kicked the surface and with a surge of his Spiritual Energy, instantly moved closer to the gargantuan monster’s head.
“Go to Hell!” Shouting at the top of his lungs, Zi Lian jumped up and slashed towards the monster’s head.
*Swooooosh…* A purple arc flew off Zi Lian’s blade, instantly growing bigger, as if absorbing the energy from the Void Space.
In the blink of an eye, it grew to the length of a kilometer.
Although it was still small compared to the gargantuan monster, it was enough to prompt it to look up.
*Boooooom…* With a thunderous clap, the fearsome arc landed on the monster’s cheek. A thin line of purple blood-like liquid oozed out from the cut, before dripping down the cheek.
However, Zi Lian did not feel any sense of accomplishment, because this slash, although terrifying, was equivalent to a very minor injury for the gargantuan monster.
More importantly, Zi Lian noticed the wound healing, and at a ridiculous speed at that, the sight of which caused Zi Lian’s pupils to shrink.
“Freaking monster…” In shock and doubt, the corner of Zi Lian’s eyes could not help but twitch.
Its excessively oversized body and its diamond-like hard flesh was fine with him, but its healing ability was what was truly monstrous. After all, Zi Lian, over the course of successive evolutions, had developed an ability—Bleeding that applied a bleeding state to his opponent when they were injured by him, inflicting continuous secondary damage to the enemy while tearing through their defenses.
Yet, at this moment, looking at the completely healed wound, Zi Lian’s corners of eyes could not help but twitch. It was not that his ability was ineffective, rather the gargantuan monster’s recovery speed was simply too terrifying.
“Thick skin, tough flesh, and a terrifying recovery… This should be the Assassin’s nemesis that Master has mentioned.” Helpless, a wry smile appeared on Zi Lian’s face. He had always believed that even the opponents with thick hide and tough flesh would not be impossible for him. After all, even the strongest defense was like paper before him.
As for the terrifying recovery of his opponents, after coming to realize the huge role of recovery in the battles, Zi Lian had also actively developed an ability to hinder his opponent’s recovery — Bleeding.
Yet, even so, Zi Lian still ran into an existence labeled as the nemesis of an assassin by his Master, and not just any assassin, but a Void King — Zi Lian.
[A massive body like a continent. Even if I can ignore its defense, the damage is still negligible. And that terrifying recovery also eliminates the possibility of me continuously penetrating its body. I would not be able to guarantee that when tearing through its body, I can enter and exit again. If I’m not careful, it’s highly likely that the healing wound will swallow me up, truly sealing me within its flesh…] Unlike ordinary Void Creatures, who acted ignorantly and recklessly, acting on their instincts, Zi Lian was analyzing all possibilities in his mind. And during this analysis…
*Booooom, booooom, boooom…* The confrontation between the two became even more intense.
Of course, even when facing his nemesis, there was not a hint of worry on Zi Lian’s face. While the gargantuan monster was terrifying and his nemesis, if Zi Lian wanted to leave, the monster could not stop him. In other words, the initiative was still in Zi Lian’s hands.
And there was another point: Zi Lian did not think he would lose.
Growing during the battle was his Innate Talent, and evolving was his instinct. Now, Zi Lian could feel a terrible power surging within his body. The cells in his body were constantly dividing, nurturing new abilities.
This was Zi Lian’s most terrifying talent – a body that evolved every moment. And now… If this monster failed to kill or swallow Zi Lian, and the battle dragged on, this monster would be facing an even more terrifying Zi Lian, and that Zi Lian would be its nemesis.
In other words, a nemesis did not exist for Zi Lian. If there was a nemesis, he would just evolve further!
Evolve the ability—Bleeding, suppress its terrifying recovery.
Evolve his blades, further increasing his attack power.
Even evolve his body, just to make it more suitable for fighting this continent-like creature.
