Chapter 342

  1. Flee from the Heroes (15) [End]

#15 Their Circumstances: The Observer’s Circumstances

“….”

“….”

“….”

“….”

“….”

Hundreds of people were just swallowing their saliva as they stared at one man.

Who were these people?

They were the best forces of the Karan Empire, considered the strongest in the world.

They were the top forces of the dark organization that started to rule the nights of the continent, surpassing the evil organization Howling that was called the worst evil.

Among the elves who lived for thousands of years, only the best heroes were gathered here.

Each of them was at least a Sword Master or comparable.

When ordinary people chat over drinks about ‘who is the strongest existence on the continent?’, these were the kinds of people who came to mind.

Including the 5 titles of the Sword – Sword Sage, Sword Lord, Sword Demon, Sword Heaven, Sword God – as well as those with famous names like the mages of the Magic Towers, and the geniuses of the Keshar family called the next Sword God Marail, these forces could compete with the rising saints who were starting to make a name for themselves on the continent.

If the people gathered here combined their powers, they could easily destroy dozens of ordinary countries.

But with such great power, they still shook in fear at the man in front of them.

They desperately hoped that the man they were watching would not stand up.

Swish-

As the man turned his head, hundreds of people flinched.

“Hmm…”

With just a soft yawn, some retreated back.

Like ordinary humans before a dragon, they trembled.

‘Please just stay as you are!’

‘Will he come quietly if I bring the letter? No, that letter was to…’

‘Ah, I’m jealous… I want to fight the Demon King too…’

‘Damn! Calling only those who know the Instructor here because those who don’t know might be careless! It’s true but it’s too much!’

‘The metal bat… The metal bat… The matal bat’

That’s right. They all had one thing in common.

Different races and factions, but one thing!

The common experience of having met the man before them!

That’s why they felt fear even with such great power.

They were the ones who knew the man’s existence… Those who had experienced the worst devil sticks, wooden bat and metal bat.

(Report! The Demon King has fallen! The Demon King has fallen!)

(The Demon King is gone. The one who struck him down is identified as imperial. Now focus all effort on capturing Naran!)

(The Princess is heading there. Make sure he can’t escape!)

At the same time, communication magic tools started receiving reports that the Demon King had fallen.

Gulp!

With the Demon King gone, there would be peace for mankind. But for those gathered here, it was irrelevant.

Rather, it signaled the beginning of a true war.

“Gulp!”

It was a moment saliva involuntarily swallowed down.

It felt like any small trigger could set off something.

‘He must have heard, no way he didn’t.’

‘He’ll try to escape, not the type to wait around.’

‘Please don’t come this way. Please, please!’

A tense situation.

With the Demon King captured, the man would make a move.

In a sense, that would bring about a greater disaster than the Demon King.

Hoping not to get caught up in that disaster, the hundreds waited for the man to stand.

But,

‘Huh?’

The man did not move.

Despite the news of the Demon King’s fall, he just sat staring blankly into space.

In a way, it looked thoughtless. In a way, it looked contemplative.

An appearance that could fit any interpretation.

Seeing that, those boasting the best skills on the continent thought,

‘He’s deciding who to beat down first!’

‘We’re doomed! That’s the look of someone confident, he can take us all down!’

‘Is he trying to summon the great devil of hell? No, I heard he already did that, so an evil god? Is he trying to summon an evil god!’

‘Mom… I want to go home…’

Believing their own grand delusions to be the truth, they could only tremble in fear.

“Instructor.”

Exclamations rang out from all around.

A hero. A hero was here.

A hero beyond even the legendary hero of Nature, beyond the hero who felled the Demon King!

By their standards, if not the world’s, he had taken the most heroic action in history!

“As you must have heard, the Demon King…Senior has fallen.”

Swish-

The man raised his head to look at the one who spoke to him.

“It’s been a while. I am Geral Sayad, currently working for the Empire.”

He was the instructor’s disciple, and a peer of Sia, Rain, and others.

An elite member of the evil organization Howling, scouted by the Princess after helping destroy Howling!

With an confident expression, he looked down at the man and shouted.

“Instructor, if you join hands with Her Highness the Princess, you can have anything you wish. Everything on the continent can be yours.”

As Geral said, the Empire did have such power.

“….”

But the man seemed uninterested.

“Thanks to you I already have the title of Count, a high noble. They call me an in-law but recognize my abilities, so I’m loved by the family. I have a beautiful wife and two cute sons, four daughters. As a disciple, aren’t you eager to see your grandchildren?”

Seeing such a man, Geral began selling his own children.

“She’s not a real daughter, but I heard Instructor also has a daughter. The empire’s education is top notch! Even our eldest daughter is set to enroll in Yugrasia next year. I heard Yugrasia is the new academy Instructor rebuilt. My daughter can learn a lot there too.”

“Oh!”

Suddenly, exclamations burst out from some of the imperial soldiers.

Starting with ‘Isn’t that her real dad?’ and ‘Does his daughter believe in evil religion?’ or ‘Was she a seductress who brought ruin to the nation in her past life?’ they began seriously debating which one, the dad or the daughter, was in the wrong.

“I’m…”

When the man from the evil organization tried to cut in, feeling uneasy from the imperial soldiers’ persistent persuasion,

“Or I have a son who’s engaged but… Ack!”

“Hmm!”

Geral, who kept chattering, suddenly screamed and started rolling on the floor.

“Wha, what is it!”

“The metal bat! There’s a metal bat on the floor!”

A part of the metal bat in the man’s hand was squirming like a tentacle, grabbing Geral’s foot.

Swish-

Somehow, a silver metal bat was now in the man’s hand before he knew it.

“Ins, Instructor… Ack!”

Geral’s screams started echoing out.

The deeply ingrained fear in everyone slowly began awakening.

“Sa, save me!”

Although Geral begged with tears and snot as his foot was grabbed, no one came to help him.

Like that, Geral was dragged in front of the man.

Bang! Thwack! Thwack! Bang!

“Ack! Aaaack! Je… Ack! He… Gah! Hah! Hah! Save… Ack!”

Soon, Geral was getting beat up by the man who had split the metal bat into two.

“Hehehehe!”

Geral’s quite decent looking face was gruesomely mangled.

His eyes were popped out, his face was smiling happily, and his tongue was sticking out long.

If a person like this had collapsed in an ordinary village, the village children would laugh at the funny sight, and the parents would cover their eyes saying ‘You shouldn’t look at that!’

If they were a little older, they would report it as someone who took illegal drugs to the guards.

But to the people here, it merely stimulated an indescribable terror.

And seeing those people,

Swish-

The tentacle on the metal bat held by the man started moving.

“Sa, save me please!”

“Get back! Move back!”

Those closest to the man began retreating in terror.

Swish- Swish-

But the tentacles of the metal bat did not target them.

It simply scratched the floor and started writing something in the common continental language.

<Take this trash away.>

“Ye, yes?”

The eyes of the man and the member of the evil organization, who unconsciously questioned themselves as they looked at the completed letters on the floor, met.

Swish-

<Or get hit.>

“I understand!”

Reading the sincerity in the man’s eyes, the evil organization member who could be considered his enemy subconsciously picked up Geral.

<Don’t bother me. Just bring a letter. I’ll beat up anyone who comes without one.>

The tentacle of the metal bat that wrote those words retreated back into the metal bat.

“……”

“……”

“……”

After that last thing, the imperial army, evil organization members, and elves all lost their words seeing the man blankly staring into space again.

“Transmission. The target shows no signs of moving. He said not to bother him and just bring a letter.”

“Hey, hurry and bring the letter! He said he’ll beat up anyone who approaches without one!”

“Please save me, Princess! That looks more painful than a wooden bat even though this is my first time seeing it!”

A few who regained their composure sent quiet transmissions through their communication magic tools.

And so, the time of silence visited again.

The man kept staring into space, while the others watched his every move cautiously.

“Just who… Are you?”

“Your Highness!”

The first to arrive was the princess, but she did not look pleased. No, she just looked nasty.

Her gaze alone seemed like it could rip a person to shreds, and some around her were starting to suffocate from her energy.

Considering the skills of those around were on par with sword masters, it was an astonishing energy.

If an ordinary human was nearby, they would have lost their life from her energy alone.

“What on earth…”

“Master!”

A woman with similar traits as the princess, silver hair and red eyes, entered uncaring of the princess’ energy. But,

“What… the.”

Seeing the man, she also began spewing out energy like the princess.

“I told you to look properly!”

“Hmm!”

She grabbed the collar of the evil organization member closest to her.

“But, but isn’t he right there…”

“Are those eyes just decorations? Does that look like Master to you? Huh? Where?”

The evil organization member whose collar was grabbed looked the man up and down, comparing him to the target he had in mind.

“He, he looks the same but…”

He was an information agent from the Howling evil organization. He had the experience of stopping this man together with Sia during Howling’s downfall.

This man was definitely Naran.

As an information agent in Howling, he had shared information a few times with Professor Naran. So he could be certain.

“That’s just his appearance! He’s clearly a different person!”

No matter the man’s words, Sia was just grinding her teeth.

“If, if the appearance is the same but he’s different…”

“Vibe! Atmosphere! Soul!”

The evil organization member whose collar was grabbed felt wronged to the point of tears.

They were all things that couldn’t be seen with the eyes!

Whether the eyes worked or were just decorations, they couldn’t see what couldn’t be seen!

“I’m sorry…”

But knowing that he could be killed by Sia’s wrath if he brought out those words, the member could only swallow his tears and apologize.

“Ugh!”

“Hmph!”

For just a fleeting moment, the gazes of the princess and Sia met, but soon turned away as if they had seen something unsightly.

“Catch that thing. Catch it and make it spit out everything it knows. Oh, and… Let it know it will die if the imperial army takes it.”

“I don’t know who it is, but make whoever helped Ast escape regret it. Oh, and… Think of it as dead if it gets taken by some no-name group.”

The members of both forces felt like crying.

It looked like a real war was about to break out. One big enough to make the Demon King look silly.

And regardless of whether that man was their goal or not, the fact that he used the metal bat didn’t change.

In front was the metal bat, behind were their enraged masters. And next to them were others in a similar plight but who were enemies they had no choice but to oppose out of pity!

‘Why…’

‘Did it turn out like this…?’

On one side were the soldiers of the Karan Empire, considered the strongest in the world of light.

On the other were the members, known as the strongest in the world of darkness.

Aside from being human, the two sides who walked completely opposite paths felt a sense of kinship when they saw each other.

And,

‘It’s fortunate the Princess is running late.’

‘Dear imperial guard, please don’t get lost and end up here with the Princess.’

Seeing such individuals, the elves slowly took steps back to distance themselves and prepare to watch things unfold.

“Your Highness! Sia!”

With a wave of tremendous magical power, a booming voice rang out, drawing everyone’s gazes toward its owner.

“Huh?”

“Rain?”

The princess and Sia were the same.

The man who called them, the apostle of the goddess of benevolence and devotion!

Currently enlisted (forced) in the imperial army and Sia’s colleague, he shouted loudly, channeling his magic power.

“You can’t catch that instructor! That’s the metal bat!”

Uh oh.

Hearing those words, what the princess and Sia saw when they turned their gazes was…

“Tch! Found out, huh?”

The man melted away murkily and transformed into the figure of a small girl.

“Wha-, what…”

Seeing that it was the metal bat and not someone in disguise, the two shocked women were met with the metal bat sticking out its tongue and laughing.

“This is my original form, ladies! I can disguise myself like my master too!”

Ahem!

As the metal bat stood tall with its chest puffed out, Rain shouted.

“Goddess, please help! goddess!”

Brilliant golden light began to converge in Rain’s hand.

“But like my master said, I stalled well.”

The metal bat looked towards Rain and made a naughty smile.

“So see you later, little sister!”

Boom!

The wooden bat filled with brilliant golden light fell towards the metal bat, but the metal bat was already gone from that spot.

Instead…

“Ah… When did it make this?”

The spot bombarded by the wooden bat.

Beyond the crumbled floor was a long tunnel that left everyone speechless.

“Go look!”

“Hurry up and find it!”

Other than the two enraged women who had lost their target again…

“I’m back, Master!”

“Good work.”

The metal bat stalled well.

Looks like the Demon King guy also stalled decently.

“The Demon King must be dead now, right?”

“Yeah. That handsome guy killed him?”

“As expected of the world’s strongest hero. He even took down the Demon King in the end.”

I knew he was a monster since we were young, but to think he’d take down even the Demon King.

“No, not that guy. The really handsome master’s disciple.”

“Huh? Not #1000?”

“No. Not him, the host.”

“Huh…?”

Rain? Of my disciples, in terms of combat ability alone, the weakest is Rain?

“Was it the wooden bat’s power?”

Come to think of it, he said that was the embodiment of the goddess of benevolence and devotion, the natural enemy of the Demon King.

“Yeah. My little sister also seems to have awakened. I ran into her briefly and she tried to kill me, it was scary.”

“That explains why he popped out earlier than expected.”

The original plan was for the metal bat to stall until it could cause a commotion here and there and then transfer over.

“Since we didn’t know when she might wake up, she declined going back to sleep.”

“Well, I got the information I wanted.”

The Rain guy became a hero. And that too, a hero of the wooden bat, the natural enemy of the metal bat.

The Rain who once went to the Ministry of Finance, even weaker in combat than Mirea, is gone.

Now only the Rain who is a hero that defeated the Demon King and my archenemy remains.

“I need to move him to the top of the list of people I absolutely can’t meet.”

Subordinate of the princess, colleague of Sia, and apostle of the goddess of benevolence and devotion.

He’s become an existence that has gathered my archenemies in one place.

“Ah, right, Master. Since my little sister flew to where I was sitting, the escape tunnel has probably been exposed.”

“That’s fine. It was going to be discovered right after you disappeared anyway.”

If I had dug it myself and escaped, it would have been risky, but this escape route was made by dwarves.

It was the final getaway prepared by Dharman and the other traitorous Black Anvil clan!

It was a top-class escape route, not just flawless but designed with traps I activated while escaping to buy time.

“But since it’s them…”

No matter how the Demon King’s tracking device was removed, letting your guard down was prohibited.

Weren’t they the ones who had brought down even that Demon King?

“First, we need to leap out and settle in a spot, then secretly bring my daughter.”

So first,

“Leap!”

“Yes!”

The priority was to escape so that the bothersome things could not follow.

[Epilogue]

What are villains?

People say. Those who do evil deeds.

Then what are evil deeds?

Those who steal or rob other people’s belongings.

Those who beat or kill people.

Those who break the law and commit crimes.

People call those deeds evil, and call them villains.

And I was a villain.

Just a few decades ago I did countless evil deeds in Howling, the most notorious criminal organization on the continent.

I do not deny it.

Because I made money that even nobles could not easily make, let alone ordinary people.

People say you only live once, right?

It’s not so bad to try what you want to do ife, moreover you only live once

Well, this is my second time, but still.

This is what I wanted to say.

I neither deny nor regret becoming a villain.

Because joining the evil Howling group was my choice, no matter what life I lived.

Even though many were harmed because of it.

But…But listen.

“Isn’t this a bit much?”

I shivered looking at the wanted poster in my hand.

I was so upset I felt like tears would spill out any moment.

<Wanted Poster – Name Ast (frequently uses aliases)

Bounty – 1 million gold coins

Appearance – Unpredictable due to excellent disguise skills.

Characteristics – Looks ordinary but can create or erase characteristics with excellent disguise skills.

Other – Very likely to be with a silver-haired girl.

Crimes – See back

He is a very important and dangerous figure. He must be captured, so if you see a similar person please contact the nearby military, religion order, mercenary guild, etc.>

Let me say it again, I am a former villain.

I was prepared to take responsibility for what happened because of that.

But!

“I didn’t do any of this!”

I wanted to yell loudly but could only mumble quietly, afraid of people’s gazes.

The list of crimes on the back were all fabricated.

Starting with the suspicion of plotting the revival of the evil god, even the suspicion that I manipulated people from behind to try to collapse the kingdom!

“They’re all just suspicions, right, master?”

The metal bat, whose trademark silver hair I dyed black because of the other section, looked at the wanted poster and spoke.

By the way, I plated and dyed the metal bat.

“Not a single one is true so they wrote suspicions. But really, do we have to leave the human continent?”

“The demon continent isn’t safe anymore either.”

“Damn it…!”

The demon continent, my only hope, was no longer perfect.

“Damn that Rain!”

It was all because of Rain, the saint and hero who brought down the Demon King, the apostle of the goddess of benevolence and devotion.

“A former villain becoming a lord, what is this world coming to.”

The guy restored the cities of the Ruvella City Alliance with the goddess of benevolence and devotion.

With the support of the Empire, he created a neutral city called Sibern.

Well, it’s a city about the size of a mid-sized kingdom, and its distinguishing trait is that it’s a city where humans and demons live together.

“My sister is popular among the demons too.”

There was opposition across the continent, but the goddess of benevolence and devotion and the Empire joined hands.

Thanks to that, trade between the human continent and the demon continent slowly began, and who knows, in a few hundred years demons might become recognized as another demihuman race like elves and dwarves.

“I didn’t think my enlightenment policies would fail so spectacularly….”

“It was an unexpected variable.”

It really was an unexpected variable.

No matter how much the Empire tried, it would be impossible if the demon continent refused.

But because of my beloved disciple Bellegrade, who inherited the hodgepodge ideology mixing my communism and socialism just for my benefit, exchanges between demons and humans began.

I’m ruined. At this rate I’ll have to pioneer some uninhabited wilderness.

“Just what did I do wrong…!”

I’m upset. So upset I really feel like tears will stream down.

Why are you all doing this to me!

“Master, someone’s coming. Leap out naturally!”

“Ah, okay.”

As if taking the wanted poster naturally, I start walking down the street.

I feel like everyone is looking at me.

There’s probably no one on the continent who doesn’t know this wanted poster.

No wonder, since those who looked at the bounty amount and first sneered ‘That’s enough to buy a country’ rolled their eyes back when they saw the seal of the Karan Empire stamped as the issuer.

But who am I?

None other than Naran, former member of the evil Howling group, escape expert who even the Imperial Army couldn’t catch!

Ordinary people, pah!

“Um, excuse me, is this person…?”

Swish-

Someone grabs my shoulder but I can deal with it naturally.

“Ah, I haven’t seen this pers-…”

Swish-

I turn around thinking it’s another guard again, but what I see is…

“No. It means come with me, instructor.”

The face of Mirea, the only being who sometimes grabs me from behind.

Ah, damn it! In times like this!

“Scatter secret recipes!”

“Ah!”

After scattering my last resort anti-Mirea weapons from my arms, I escape Mirea’s hands as she’s briefly surprised and start running through the town, and

“Catch him!”

Seeing me do that, Mirea shouts while catching all the scattered recipes midair.

And at the same time, the appearance of hundreds of people!

“You damn bastards! Give me a break already!”

With those words, the sixth chase of the year began.

[End of Main Story – Side Stories start next week.]

T/N: So that’s the end… Was honestly expecting he being caught as I don’t know how he can escape as every conner of the world is filled with his slav.. I mean his students.

Honestly I picked up this novel cause I could not get it out of my mind and no matter how hard I tried to read MTL, I just could not and time passed and I ended up picking the novel.

By the time I picked it up, the names were kinda on the forgotten side and I just remembered them from their crazy characteristics.

I will say this, I’m new to the whole translation scene and a lot of mistakes that should have been avoided were made. To that, I apologies.

I will not be picking the last part of the side story as that’s only for the princess story and the conclusion to the war Narran created.

This is one of the best novels I read so far and as good as The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich is, there is just too much filler.

Anyways, That’s all folk.

P.S: If you have a novel that needs translating, drop a comment.

Peace.
