Chapter 2832: Bladedance
Alex could hardly believe what he had just heard. And yet, at the same time, nothing else could’ve ever made sense.
Death was a Sword God. Who else could have such talent with their sword?
“Bladedance…” Alex said softly. “I’ve never heard of her before. Was she the god before Purplerain?”
“Purplerain was a Sword Sage, from what I remember,” Godslayer said. “He only became a Sword God during the time I was imprisoned. She must’ve been gone for a long time, so he took her place as the Sword God.”
“Is she… strong?” Alex asked. The question felt stupid to even ask; of course, she was strong. But he didn’t know what else to ask.
“She’s one of the only few people in the world to reach the Celestial realm. That alone makes her stronger than everyone else in the world,” Godslayer said. “But even more than that, her talent with the sword is unlike any before her. I remember meeting her a few times. She once used a sword I made myself. She was strong then, but now she must be even stronger.”
Alex was in awe.
Just then, the former Sword God turned, looking toward him.
“Who are you?” she asked. “And why did you have my sword?”
Alex froze. He wasn’t expecting to have to answer her so quickly. “I… I…” He wanted to answer, but he had to first think through what he wanted to reveal and what he wanted to keep.
A slash appeared on his left arm, fresh blood spilling from him. There was no warning or indication of an attack. The wound had just appeared all on its own.
“Answer me,” the woman spoke in a serious voice. “Where is Godslayer?”
That was what Alex had been afraid of. She knew her sword held Godslayer, so without Godslayer in it, she could only question where he had gone.
Alex’s arm was suddenly lopped off, flying further beyond him. He couldn’t even pay that any attention as Bladedance began approaching him.
“Tell her the truth,” Godslayer said.
Alex complied immediately. “He’s with me. He’s in my Spiritual Sea,” he answered.
“No, tell her more.”
But Alex didn’t have the chance. His head suddenly slipped down his body. He died from an attack he didn’t even notice.
Bladedance waited to see what would happen. Godslayer, as a sword, would either try to entice the closest person or fly away. She needed to make sure he did neither.
But to her horror, Godslayer didn’t do anything. Instead, Alex’s head, which was right next to the body, moved back to the neck and reattached.
Alex gasped as he took a breath, coming back to life.
Bladedance’s eyes were wide in surprise.
“How did you do that?” she asked with a curious expression. “Have you gained new powers since we last saw each other?”
She thinks I’m Godslayer?
Alex slowly got up and began stepping back. This was bad. The seal around his Spiritual Sea had come back up when he died. He attempted to open the seal again, but Bladedance swung her sword and Alex died again.
His head rolled off, this time further away from where it had first been.
Alex came back to life again, next to something hard in the sand. He felt it and found the sharpness.
He had come back to life right next to Godslayer’s body.
The black sword.
Alex didn’t know what he could do at that moment except run. He created an illusion of himself with all of his aura and turned invisible so he could grab the sword and run away.
The moment he was out of range, the illusion vanished on its own, unsustainable in Hell.
Not that he cared. As long as he was invisible.
Bladedance didn’t immediately move. Her eyes were wide in shock as she saw Alex come back to life again.
Had Godslayer really gained new powers?
No, she knew this power. It didn’t belong to Godslayer, but it did belong to her enemy. Humanity’s enemy.
The Undying Gods.
The one who was taken over by Godslayer had the power of the Undying God.
“No…” she said softly. This was the worst thing that could happen. Two unkillable forces, combined into one.
And she was all alone.
“No…”
Her sword swung suddenly, the slash flying to the distance where Alex was invisible. Even fully concealed, Bladedance could notice him.
Alex was cut in half, his body appearing out of nowhere. His body fell from the sky, but even as they fell, they healed into one.
Alex landed on the side of the dune, rolling down all the way to the base where he appeared before the mountain of corpses that Death had left.
Before he could do anything else, Bladedance jumped down next to him, cutting him again.
Only, Alex came back to life once again.
When Alex got up this time, Bladedance stood right by him, her sword in her hand, the edge pressed against his neck. She drew blood. She was going to kill him.
“Godslayer, I will not let you… you…” Bladedance’s face narrowed as she sensed something. “Why do you have Quickstorm’s aura on you?”
Alex breathed deeply. “I’m not Godslayer,” he said the moment he got to. “He’s in me, but I’ve contained him. Senior Bladedance, I am not the enemy.”
Bladedance heard his words but chose to ignore them. She found herself focused on something else. “Why did the Storm God place a seal around your body?” she asked.
The many beasts near them had noticed their arrival and were charging toward them.
Bladedance turned her eyes toward the beasts. “Retreat!”
Her words carried an Intent that forced the beasts to submission immediately, making them fall back.
Her eyes returned to Alex. “You will speak!”
Alex felt the pressure of her Intent slamming onto his body like a mountain. Her will alone forced him to open his mouth and start speaking.
“The Storm God sealed me,” Alex said. “He couldn’t kill me, so he sealed me, and they threw me to Hell.”
