The only one not surprised by Killshot’s words was Grimsight. Only he knew the reason for the presence of the 33 gods.
"One god for each world," Alex murmured slowly, trying to understand the reason. He tried to make sense of it, but there just wasn’t anything to be made sense of.
"How does that work exactly?" Silvermist asked. "Do you assign a new god to govern one of the Immortal worlds? Even then, that doesn’t make sense exactly, since not all worlds have a God in them."
Killshot shrugged. "Ask him the minor details. He can answer."
Silvermist turned to Grimsight. "Can you tell us? It just doesn’t make sense that there would be 33 gods for 33 Immortal worlds, since not all Immortal worlds belong to humans. Three of them can’t be inhabited, three of those are with the beasts, and nine of the remaining belong to the demons. How do 18 human Immortal worlds make up for the 33 gods? Or do we have gods from the beast and demon worlds that I do not know about?"
Grimsight took in Silvermist’s long question and released a sigh as he knew he had to answer this.
"A god for each Immortal world… is not a fact or a rule. It is a wish they had during the Eternal War. Back when the war was at its greatest, there were only a dozen or so gods, and every one of them ruled a certain world."
"The Sky God ruled the Sky God’s Palace. The Ocean God ruled the Eternal Isles. The Snow God ruled the Eclipsing Heaven. And so on. I do not know the names of the old gods and what realms they occupied. Each world has gone through enough changes already, and that was before I was even born."
"So, when they began envisioning the future where they won all of the Immortal realm, they envisioned it with their own people ruling it all. One thing led to another and soon they wanted a god for each world."
"That was when they began allowing other people to become gods as well. Soon, there were 33. And since then, they’ve always tried to keep to that number."A stunned silence followed the answer as no one had expected it.
"Well, there you have it. That’s the reason," Killshot said from the side.
Silvermist slowly nodded, taking in the information. Alex had a few more questions.
"Was the first Alchemy God one of these gods that later joined?" he asked. "Was there really no Alchemy God before him?"
"’Alchemy God’ as a title didn’t exist before then, hence why he was the first one. That was not to say that he wasn’t the greatest alchemist of the time. The decision to have 33 Immortal Gods had been made hundreds of thousands of years before him. And in that time, no one else had become one, so he was truly special in that regard."
"I see," Alex said slowly. The more he learned about the first Alchemy God, the closer he felt to the man that lived so long ago and yet affected him so deeply still.
"Senior Grimsight, do the beasts have a god?" Momo asked from the side.
"No, the beasts do not have any gods," Grimsight said. "That is not to say they don’t have similar God-like beings." His eyes glanced toward Pearl for the briefest moment before moving away.
"The demons definitely don’t have gods. Just the concept alone isn’t a thing there," Silvermist added. He too had been part of the war, so he knew a bit.
"Well…" Killshot spoke up. "They had a God too, but one we named."
"We named?" Silvermist asked with quiet curiosity.
"There was one that could turn into a bear. A very powerful man that could fight hundreds of battles without taking a single wound. Every single fight he fought, he won. It took an ambush from multiple gods to even defeat him when he was weakened."
Grimsight looked toward Killshot with a surprised look. "You’ve gone through the records, Your Greatness," he said.
"I got bored one day and decided to check the historic records," Killshot said. "It really does make that guy appear quite demonic. Did you ever fight him?"
Grimsight thought for a moment. "Not him, but I did fight one of his disciples a few times. It became clear quite soon that the battle could only end up in a draw, so I left the fight long before it could conclude. I wasn’t going to waste my time there."
Alex was stunned hearing the entire thing. It was surreal to hear them talk about the Undying God this freely. The memories of the Undying God were still in his mind, and although he hadn’t gone through them again after the first time, he knew exactly who these two were talking about.

The one who turned into a bear was the 3rd Undying God, and since the following two weren’t involved in the war, the next one must’ve been the 6th Undying God.
"Oh, Orangeruby is leaving," Killshot suddenly said. "If you want to learn about more gods, just keep watching. Soulmother should be coming out next."
"Her Majesty is here too?" Grimsight asked. "I didn’t expect so many to come to a tournament for mere Immortals."
Alex turned and watched the stage once again. The previous participant had left, and the Puppet God had left along with him. And now, the stage was empty for the next participants.
The Alchemy God appeared, and for a moment, Alex thought he was going to be the next interviewer. But he was simply the one hosting the entire thing.
"Next, let me call onto the stage Alchemist Ridgevein, hailing from the Golden Dao realm, disciple of Alchemist Snowtail."
A young female alchemist quietly flew to the stage and sat atop her tall pedestal. She looked around the stadium at everyone with a gentle smile.
"And to interview her, I will humbly call onto stage Her Majesty, lord of the Sacred Lotus Dominion, master and mother of the Beast legion: The Beast God."
The stadium erupted into cheers as millions of people shouted for the arrival of yet another god.
Alex looked down to watch her come from one of the gates, but instead he was forced to look up. Suddenly, he saw the image of ten thousand different burning horses riding down from the sky, their hooves leaving trails of fire.
The identical horses all encircled the two pedestals, slowly creating a spiral, like a tornado of flames but entirely made of flaming horses, concealing everything on the inside.
Then, one by one, the horses began to vanish. They were mere illusions, created with fire, all to give an illusion that there were so many of them. When all horses vanished, just one remained.
The last flaming horse —the only real one— stood on the pedestal, and on its back was a woman with untied golden hair trailing across her shoulders. She wore a beautiful green robe that occasionally buzzed into action as if it were made entirely of bees.
This was the Beast God.
She smiled gently as she looked toward the audience first, and then at the young alchemist before her.
"Shall we begin?"
