The Poison God looked down on the four and simply waved his hand. "You are forgiven," the man said, walking in closer toward the group. Everyone remained bowed, not daring to hold their heads high.
The god stood before the group for a moment before releasing a small sound of amusement. "Young lady, do you have a poison physique?" he asked.
Momo tensed up, surprised that the Poison God had realized something so secretive so suddenly. "I… I do, Your Ma— Deadliness."

"How did you learn the Dao of Detoxification if your physique is one of poison?" the god asked.
"I-I have a lot of experience working with poison and antidotes, Your Deadliness," Momo said.
"I’m sure many people do. But not all of them learn this Dao. What makes you special?" the god asked.
Momo failed to come up with an answer. She didn’t know anything beyond the fact that she had given a lot of time to working with poison and antidotes. How else was she supposed to explain this?
Silvermist chose to answer in her stead. "My grand disciple has truly worked with—"
"SILENCE!" the Poison God shouted, his words like thunder in an open sky. "I did not ask you the question."Silvermist froze, unable to formulate anything else. He hadn’t expected the Poison God to be this intense. He had only had dealings with the Alchemy God directly, and that man was much more amicable than this.
Silvermist simply bowed even more in apology, not even voicing it aloud.
"I asked you a question, child," the god said.
Momo was scared out of her mind at this point. If there was a man who could get her grandmaster to shut up, then what was she to do?
"I have no answer, Your Deadliness," Momo said. "I can only say that I worked hard to learn the Dao, and it was because of my hard work that I learned it."
The Poison God seemed not so amused by the answer. "Are you saying you only learned what you did because you worked hard? Do you think others don’t?" he asked. He stared daggers into Momo, making her feel tiny at the moment. "Fine, I won’t ask you to reveal your secrets. I am willing to wait for it."
Momo breathed a small sigh of relief.
"Starting today, you can join me. I will have you become a disciple under one of my outer disciples. If you learn well and show potential, I will make you my direct disciple."
The Poison God’s words were not a question. They were a command. From his tone, Momo had no choice. The man had said as much, so Momo would now be working under him.
All four were stunned at the moment, unable to utter a single word. They had expected some sort of invite for Momo to join under the Poison God, but they hadn’t expected it to be so abrupt.
Before anyone could say anything, Alex was already lifting his head. "Your Deadliness, does my disciple have no choice in this matter?" he asked.
Silvermist looked up in panic, fearing any and all retaliation at that moment. However, the Poison God didn’t seem angry at the question.
"Choice? Of course she has a choice," the god said, turning to Momo. "Do you wish to refuse?"
Momo looked up hurriedly. "I-I-I don’t know, Your Deadliness. I-I—"
"You have a minute to make a decision before I rescind my offer," the Poison God said, giving her an ultimatum.
Momo looked toward Alex in desperation, wanting him to make the decision. Alex, however, looked toward Silvermist in hopes of getting some help here. The truth was, if the decision was left up to Alex, he would immediately refuse.
It wasn’t even because the Alchemy God had placed an offer for them that was equally as good as this one, but because he worried about the sort of treatment Momo would have to suffer in this place.
He couldn’t refuse on behalf of his disciple, however, so he looked toward his master in the hope that he would think things through more than him. With age came experience, and Alex hoped Silvermist would use his here to make a decision.
As old as Silvermist was, he wasn’t the oldest. In the end, Silvermist too turned toward Grimsight, looking to him for the final answer. Grimsight took a deep breath as he thought for a moment and nodded.
Silvermist gave a small smile and turned toward Momo. "You should accept His Deadliness’ offer. It is a good one," he said. "There are so few gods in all of the world, so the chance of becoming the disciple of one is not something that comes around every day. There is no doubt that this is a good offer."
Momo became silent for a moment before slowly nodding her head. "And what about my Alchemy, grandmaster?" she asked.
Silvermist sighed. "Sometimes in life, you have to make compromises. Learning about poison and antidotes should now be your priority. It does not mean that you cannot practice Alchemy any further. It just means that you should do it on your own time."
Momo seemed saddened by this. "I cannot focus on Alchemy?" she asked. "But, I… I love Alchemy. That’s all I know."
Silvermist smiled. "I can understand," he said. "But you are young. Your interests can change. This opportunity, however, is a once-in-a-lifetime chance."
Momo’s eyes dropped to the ground, seemingly in dejection at the thought of what she had to do.
Alex spoke up right then. "Still, in the end, it is your choice, Momo. We may be your seniors, but we cannot make this choice for you. You are grown up now, so you must decide what you want to do. Weigh this opportunity against the desires in your heart, and see what triumphs. Then choose that."
Silvermist gave an approving smile. "That is correct. You are the one whose life will be impacted, Momo. Take all the options you have, and decide on what you want to do with your life."
Momo was burdened with the decision that would change the trajectory of her entire life, and she alone could make this decision. She so very wished that someone could just tell her what to do, but she knew deep inside that if she wasn’t the one who made this choice, she would hate that person forever.
So, even if she did regret the decision in the end, she knew she had to be the one who made it.
She turned toward the Poison God, who watched it all, and gave a respectful bow. "I accept your offer, Your Deadliness."
The woman, Bonedust, gave an approving look from the side.
"See? We didn’t have to go through any of this. The choice was obvious from the start," the Poison God said. "Bonedust, handle this all."
The woman stepped forward and bowed as the Poison God returned to his room, leaving the four alone.
"Great choice. We are ready to begin your admission into our cult," the woman said with a small smile. "But before that, one last thing. You must disavow your relationship with your master. Only then can we allow you into our ranks."
