Chapter 6390: Unlucky
“You’re bad too.” The second returned the gesture.
“What should we do, we’re scary.” The first said.
“We’re the scariest since we’re people.” The second found himself in a dilemma.
“Wait, everyone is else the same, so it’s not scary.” The first said.
“Right, right. Everyone is afraid of tigers but when they’re together, they aren’t afraid of each other.” The second chimed in.
“Okay, then we’re not scary. Are you scary?” The first agreed before asking Li Qiye.
“If you put it that way, then I suppose I’m not scary.” Li Qiye stroked his chin.
“I see, then none of us is.” The second nodded.
“We’re not scary, you’re not scary, then who is scary?” The first asked.
“The boss then.” The second said.
“The boss isn’t scary either, he was good to us. He gave us food, brought us here, and gave us a home. No, he’s a good person.” The first scratched his head.
“Not anymore, he’s a ghost now, one that brings misfortune.” The second said.
“Doesn’t seem right, something’s off. Are we remembering correctly?” The first asked.
“Remember what?” The second asked.
“The current boss is an unlucky ghost but he wasn’t before.” The first said.
“So what? We’re following the current boss, not the one before.” The second said.
“But we were with the old boss.” The first said.
“When? When we got here, the boss was the current one, not the past one.” The second said.
“No, we were with him before, not here but in another place.” The first said.
“Another place? Really?” The second said.
“Are you stupid?” The first slapped the second’s head and said: “Our birthplace, we were with him there.”
“Our birthplace? Wait, where’s that? It’s really far away, right? Then how did we get here?” The second asked.
“We’re staying here currently, the one who came with us was the current boss.” The first one said.
“Where is the past boss then?” The second didn’t understand.
“Idiot, because that boss is dead!” The first said.
“So we got a new boss?” The second said.
“Still the same one!” The first smacked the second’s head again.
“I understand.” Alch-deer interjected: “The boss in your old place died but his corpse came to this place. You two followed it here, right?”
“That’s correct. I can’t believe you’re not dumb all the time. Good, good.” The first clapped.
Lines appeared on Alch-deer’s forehead after being called dumb by an idiot.
“Why did your boss’ corpse come here?” Li Qiye asked.
“You tell him.” The first told the second.
“We talked about this already, the boss was alive so he came here.” The second shook his head.
“No, he was dead.” The first said.
“But you said he was immortal. He couldn’t have died.” The second said.
“He passed his immortality to his son, that’s how he died.” The first said.
“But why is he alive now?” The second asked.
“We just went over this! Because his corpse grew mold and a spirit took over! An unlucky ghost!” The first said.
“Then why do we want to follow him? We’ll have bad luck for the rest of our lives.” The second said.
“True.” The first agreed.
“So what turned him into a ghost?” Li Qiye asked.
“Because of his moldy corpse.” The first said.
“Where did the mold come from?” Li Qiye asked.
“Yeah, where did the mold come from?” The second repeated.
“It obviously grew out of his corpse.” The first became annoyed.
“I don’t know, are you sure the corpse is your boss’ corpse?” Li Qiye asked.
“Of course, who else can it be?” The first said confidently.
“Wait, wait, how are you so sure?” The second asked.
“Because his corpse is under the well.” The first said.
“This idiot was down there too, so he’s our boss? We went down, are we the boss too?” The second argued while pointing at Alch-deer.
“Right, so we’re the boss?” The first became confused.
“No, we’re the second boss.” The second shook his head.
“So did we put away the boss?” The first became uncertain.
“How do I know, I haven’t seen him in a long time. Maybe he ran off again.” The second said.
“You told me a corpse couldn’t run.” The first said: “Yeah, so maybe it was a fake death before.”
“And we threw the corpse down this well, right?” The second said.
“I do wonder how he came back to life again.” The first said.
“He’s just a mold spirit now, definitely different than before.” The second said.
“Different how?” The first asked.
“The old boss always blabbered about the primordial and everlasting life, a bunch of crap like a madman. The current one never did that, only ate, flirted, and played around with women.” The second said.
“Right, maybe they’re not the same.” The first said.
“Either way, it’s none of my business.” The second said.
“Whose business is it then?” The first asked.
“Yours.” The second said.
“No way.” The first responded.
“Where did the mold come from? It’s because you didn’t clean the corpse well enough.” The second glared at him.
“As if you did.” The first replied: “But what do we do when he’s a mold spirit now?”
