Dragon Tamer

Chapter 659: The Corpse Under the Nether Gate

Ming Lianjie entered the cell and could barely stand.

Although his body healed fast, bones were a different matter; once broken, recovery wasn’t just a matter of constitution.

He collapsed into the straw of the cell, looking no different from a dead dog.

Mingji recognized his cousin, Ming Lianjie, immediately. The air of arrogance he had just a moment ago was replaced with utter dumbfounded shock!!

“Cousin??” Mingji said in disbelief.

The mountain of a god that stood tall in Mingji’s heart crumbled in an instant.

Ming Lianjie was supposed to be one of the leading figures of the Ming God Clan, and yet here he was, beaten to such a state!

Was this still the mighty and fearless descendant of Ming God Clan?

At the side, Zhou Xian watched the scene unfold with an expression that couldn’t be more rich in nuance.

This is a descendant of the Ming God Clan???

Why does it differ so much from what Mingji described before? Shouldn’t he be riding on a rainbow cloud, with golden wings on his back, exuding a majestic presence that’s irresistible with every move he makes?

Even a half-dead carp would still thrash and flick its tail, but he was just lying there stiffly, worse than a beggar on the street!

Did I bet on the wrong horse?

Zhou Xian began to question his life choices.

“Don’t get your hopes up; your Ming God Clan’s people won’t be coming. According to my intel, they have already given up on Li Chuan and are planning to compete with some minor organizations over some untamed lands,” Zhu Minglang said.

Mingji was then dragged out of the cell like a man struck by lightning, soulless. While being dragged out, he didn’t show any hint of resistance.

“I have but one question for you. If you do not answer me honestly, I see no need to spare your life. I’m not a patient man,” Zhu Minglang said to Mingji.

“I won’t say anything…”

“Slap!!”

An extremely loud slap landed on Mingji’s still swollen face.

“I’m giving you one last chance,” Zhu Minglang said, his eyes turning icy, his tone no longer as gentle as before.

The slap woke Mingji up a little.

At that moment, he realized that the man before him was nothing short of a demon lord. No matter how many times they fought, the end was always the same: humiliation, abuse, trampling!

Even the mighty Ming God Army had been defeated!!

“I’ll… I’ll tell everything.” Mingji was young, and after witnessing Zhu Minglang’s terrifying act, he finally chickened out and was thoroughly frightened. He didn’t dare to be arrogant with the rhetoric of the people of the Lower Realm anymore.

“How did your Ming God Clan send you to Supreme Court? Aside from you, who else arrived in Supreme Court ahead of schedule with you?” Zhu Minglang asked.

“I did it myself…” Mingji, truly scared Zhu Minglang would kill him, stammered.

“By yourself??” Zhu Minglang frowned.

Mingji, seeing Zhu Minglang’s expression and fearing it indicated dissatisfaction, hurriedly extended his hands, revealing a pair without thumbs.

Zhu Minglang hadn’t noticed before that he had only four fingers on each hand.

“I can dig open spatial rifts; it’s my innate ability. Tianshu has prophets who revealed to our Ming God Clan that a new Star Continent would fall in this region. So I went to the Four Desolate Regions to try my luck and found a dark vortex near an old temple that hadn’t dissipated even during the day,” Mingji said in a rush.

“Go on,” Zhu Minglang maintained an indifferent facade.

“A dark vortex shouldn’t exist in the daylight, so I guessed it must have been a figure of immense divine skills, close to a god, who had used a Spatial Traversal Power here. The resulting chaos in the spatial order left the nighttime dark vortex lingering near the old temple, so I started digging into the space rift there. I thought there might be Ancient Ruins hidden in the old temple, but instead, I was swept into the Void Vortex and ended up in the Supreme Court,” Mingji explained.

Zhu Minglang listened to Mingji’s account, his face impassive, but inside he was making careful deductions.

Could it be that Mingji followed the path forcibly created by the Sparrow Wolf God and arrived in the Supreme Court?

That meant the Sparrow Wolf God was the one who traversed the void at that old temple!

Accurate information about the Sparrow Wolf God could become critical clues for Li Xinghua’s fate line; Mingji’s information was key!

“Your claims are unverifiable; it seems you have no use to me,” Zhu Minglang stated coolly.

Upon hearing that, Mingji panicked, a mess of snot and tears. Being arrogant solely because of his status as part of the Ming God Clan, now that the clan had fallen, he was no different from a subdued brat.

“I’m useful, I have utility, I can open up rifts, seals. Aren’t the Time Waves coming at midnight today? I can help you get the spiritual resources that others can’t!” Mingji exclaimed.

“Zhu Minglang, spare his life,” a cold voice came from behind at that moment.

The voice of the woman was inherently pleasant and melodious, and at that moment in Mingji’s ears, it sounded like the voice of goddess salvation.

“Keeping him around might bring us trouble,” Zhu Minglang said.

“Many Ancient Ruins have seals on them. Preserving his life might prove useful when traversing Tianshu in the future,” Nan Lingsha slowly emerged from the dim firelight, her figure graceful, stunningly beautiful.

Zhu Minglang, for some reason, found his mind wandering to scenes he shouldn’t be considering and quickly turned away.

“Miss Lingsha?” Zhu Minglang guessed blindly.

“Yes, come with me to a place,” Nan Lingsha said directly.

“It’s dark now, and it’s dangerous outside,” Zhu Minglang said.

“Are you afraid of the Nightwalkers?” Nan Lingsha asked.

“Not really.”

“The Time Wave is about to arrive, and we have to compete with the creatures of the night for something, and the Lower God Organization is likely to be active at night too,” Nan Lingsha explained.

“Alright, I’ll follow your lead,” Zhu Minglang nodded in agreement.

The Yama Dragon should no longer be able to track his scent.

Appearing in the darkness, if he was protected by The Body of God’s Selection, he shouldn’t be unable to travel by night.

Nan Lingsha was right, time was pressing, and they needed to snatch up the most valuable spiritual resources before all the forces frenziedly did the same. Moreover, the Lower God Organization was also relentlessly raiding; they too dared to walk at night for this immense wealth.

They couldn’t fall behind them!

Zhu Minglang and Nan Lingsha were both fate’s chosen, unaffected by the minor dark beings amid the night.

The two of them left Ancestral Dragon City.

Outside the city, the silence was so profound that it felt frightening. Normally, some nocturnal beasts would make calls, but now no creature dared to wander in the cold night.

The night forest was desolate, and a chilly wind rustled through as they walked across Li Chuan Plain. Zhu Minglang always felt like countless eyes were watching them.

These gazes were incredibly eerie and startling, often appearing on the very edge of his vision. In the haze, he could see the terror and greed they emitted, but when he turned to look intently in that direction, there was nothing there.

When they inadvertently swept over some pitch-dark shadows, it always made one feel as if something was standing right there, and once they turned their backs, it would draw a bit closer!

Zhu Minglang was even more puzzled by the entities in the darkness. As one of the Divine Chosen, he already possessed a certain deterrent power, yet he still felt not the slightest sense of safety.

It was like walking in a dark river, unaware of its depth, and even more uncertain whether the next step would completely submerge his mouth and nose!

“Are we nearing the World Dragon Gate?” Zhu Minglang looked up, barely making out the mirage-like silhouette of the World Dragon Gate in the darkness.

“Yes,” Nan Lingsha nodded.

“Do you know how the World Dragon Gate actually appeared?” Zhu Minglang suddenly asked.

For some reason, Zhu Minglang always felt Nan Lingsha was hiding many secrets from him.

She knew more than the other sisters did, especially about the World Dragon Gate and the Time Wave.

“I can’t answer that for you, but I’ve been thinking about something just now. Can you see that corpse?” Nan Lingsha suddenly pointed in the direction of the World Dragon Gate.

“A corpse??” Zhu Minglang felt a chill and involuntarily looked in the direction Nan Lingsha was pointing.

The moonlight was bleak, casting a layer of silvery gauze over the World Dragon Gate, enveloping this ancient mystical gate in a veil of mystery and sanctity—if there were a Heavenly Court in the world, this World Dragon Gate would be like the door to it!

“Focus a bit, and you should be able to see it,” Nan Lingsha’s cold yet beautiful voice sounded in his ear.

Zhu Minglang stood on Nan Lingsha’s Star Painting boat, scrutinizing the elusive and mystical World Dragon Gate.

Suddenly, Zhu Minglang saw a massive silhouette!

It was like a Mysterious Ancient Giant!

Quiet, cold, with a sense of shock and power that did not belong to this world!

It hovered silently and terrifyingly below the World Dragon Gate, above the night sky of Li Chuan Continent!

Zhu Minglang held his breath!

The Mysterious Ancient Giant’s body was mountainous, and even though he could only see its silhouette, it was still terrifying. This being was scarier than anything he had ever seen before!

“What is that?” Zhu Minglang exclaimed in shock.

What was a Mysterious Ancient Giant doing beneath the World Dragon Gate, lying in the vast heavens!

Before Nan Lingsha could respond, a ripple suddenly appeared in the World Dragon Gate, spreading out across the vast night sky like ripples from a startled lake.

At the same time, Zhu Minglang watched the silent Mysterious Ancient Giant rapidly disintegrate into dust. That monumental and powerful body turned into countless particles in the instant the ripple swept over, scattering into the ripples and filling the heavens with the Time Wave that swept endlessly towards the far horizon!

“So this is the Time Wave??” Nan Lingsha’s eyes reflected the sacred radiance of the Night Sky Dragon Gate, her tone carrying a hint of indifference.

Suddenly, Zhu Minglang remembered the words Ming Lianjie had said.

Li Chuan was the God Fall Land, and the corpses of the gods who perished in the World Dragon Gate would be discarded here!

The Mysterious Ancient Giant had clearly been an ancient deity from some world; it was as if he had been decomposed by the Time Wave like fertilizer, then scattered over the Supreme Court Courtyard Continent!!

Was this the real reason for the revival of all things and the outburst of spiritual energy!
