Chapter 279: Nyrrion
Kael placed the Egg on the bed, Lavinia cast a barrier making sure no one sensed what was happening inside, while Igni and others came out of the Sanctuary to welcome their new sibling.
Once everything was prepared, Kael carefully placed his hand on the Egg, barely able to control his excitement.
Slowly, he closed his eyes and,
[Ancient Awakening.]
The Energy in his body moved, this time, the pattern formed was somewhat similar to when he used the ability on Igni and Cirri, proving that the little life inside the Gemstone was similar to a Dragon.
Of course, since the pattern wasn’t exactly similar, Kael knew the child wasn’t completely Dragon, just a closely related species, not that Kael cared at the moment, right now, he only wanted to see his child.
Golden tendrils of energy moved out of his palm and enveloped the Gemstone, the air turned heavier, the entire world fell silent, as if waiting in anticipation,
And then,
Ba-dump
The once lifeless Gemstone trembled and everyone in the room heard a heartbeat.
“T-That’s…”
Lavinia widened her eyes in shock.
The Heartbeat…
It came from the Gemstone!
Kael, on the other hand, was relatively calmer, he looked at the Gemstone, his eyes shining with anticipation and excitement as the ‘Gemstone’ began to change.
Cracks of light formed across its surface, the blue veins glowed brighter, then pulsed like a heartbeat.
Soon, it started devouring more and more of Kael’s energy, something he didn’t mind one bit.
Then it happened,
The egg began to grow.
It didn’t crack. It expanded—like something ancient and powerful inside it had been waiting for this moment. In seconds, it grew taller than Kael, almost two meters high, surprising even Kael.
The glow inside it now swirled like a storm. The black shell shimmered, more alive than ever.
Then, the shaking stopped.
“…”
“…”
Silence fell on the room as everyone just stared at the massive, radiant egg that Kael had now picked up since the bed would have broken otherwise.
The Egg’s surface still grew and,
Ba-dump Ba-dump Ba-dump
Its heartbeat had now become louder than ever.
And as if giving one final confirmation, a message appeared.
[Ancient Awakening Complete]
“T-This is an Egg…?”
Lavinia stuttered.
“I-I have never seen an Egg so big…”
“Laviatharids were known for being quite massive.”
Igni muttered.
“Laviatharids…?”
Lavinia blinked, she had obviously never heard the name before.
“This is a Laviatharid Egg.”
Igni answered.
“You know about Laviatharids?”
Kael questioned, a little taken aback.
“Not much.”
Igni shook his head.
“These beings ruled the Sea, creatures of the sea do not usually interact with others.”
Kael glanced at his other children,
“We ruled the Skies, not the Sea.”
Cirri shook her head. Imperia and Vitaria didn’t know much either.
“There is no point in discussing it, is there?”
Suddenly, Imperia chuckled. She then stared at her Father and,
“We will learn everything about them as the little one grows, won’t we?”
It was quite funny how the one who was barely as big as a finger was calling a 2-meter big Egg ‘little’, but Kael agreed with her words.
He placed the Egg on the floor.
“Let’s welcome our new family member.”
Imperia smiled.
At those words, Kael’s smile widened as well and,
[Skill can be used.]
[Would you like to use on the target?]
[Y/N]
The question was asked and without wasting any more time,
‘Yes’
Kael answered and dropped a drop of his blood on the Egg’s surface.
Bzzz
The surface absorbed his blood in an instant and then it shined brighter than it ever did, casting a deep oceanic blue light all over the room.
Crack
Then, a loud crack echoed through the room.
Kael and others stepped back, giving the little one all the space it needed. A jagged line split down the middle of the glowing egg.
Crack Crack Crack
More cracks followed, blue light spilling out from within. The air grew even heavier.
Then—
BOOM
The shell burst apart in a soft explosion of glowing shards, which faded into light before they hit the ground.
And from within the dense swirling mist, something moved.
A small—no, huge—creature stumbled out.
He looked like a baby dragon. His body shimmered with blue and black scales that sparkled like stars. Tiny fins lined his tail, and his wings glowed faintly, dripping with a watery sheen as if he had just swum through the ocean.
Two bright, glowing eyes blinked up at Kael, wide and full of wonder.
*Picture*
“You’re… lovely,”
Kael breathed softly, he had nothing else to say, the little thing was simply too adorable.
“Papa!”
The baby Laviatharid shouted in excitement before he leaped at Kael with surprising speed and energy.
“Whoa—!”
Kael barely managed to catch him.
The Laviatharid was heavy.
Almost 1.8 meters long from nose to tail, the size of a small horse but shaped like an oversized kitten. His claws curled playfully against Kael’s chest as he rubbed his head against Kael, purring—yes, purring—with deep happiness.
His tail swished around, knocking over a nearby table.
“Easy! Easy! You’re not exactly tiny, you know!”
Kael laughed, as he struggled to stay standing. The little thing was more than 100 kilos, if it weren’t for Kael’s increased strength, he would have been crushed beneath him.
The Laviatharid, however, did not listen to him, he clung to Kael as tightly as he could, rubbing his face with Kael’s. Once he was done, he finally looked around the room, acknowledging the beings he had been ignoring all this while.
Igni and others stared at him, mesmerized.
“A little brother…”
Cirri muttered, her eyes shining brightly as she finally got a brother she so desperately wanted.
“Fufufu~ it’s good that you are big, you are now allowed to carry me.”
Vitaria laughed but was quickly slapped by Imperia, who was already sitting on her head, knowing something like this would happen,
“Silence.”
“Tsk.”
The Fox snorted.
“He… he really came out of a stone…”
Lavinia muttered as well, she was still in disbelief but she couldn’t deny what happened right in front of her.
And…
Didn’t the little thing just say Papa?
He talked!
A baby that was barely a few minutes old talked!
Not even Dragons could do that!
Plus, to think a newborn Bond is taller than her, just… what sort of existence would he become once he grows!?
The Princess had way too many questions in her head and all of this was overwhelming her. In an instant, the room that seemed quite big felt a bit cramped.
“Hmmm.”
The Laviatharid let out a voice, almost as if he was done analysing everything and everyone in the room and then,
“Papa~”
He turned back towards his father, not bothering to talk with the rest.
“This little…”
Vitaria’s mouth twitched at that.
Imperia, on the other hand, was calmer,
“We should name him, Father.”
At those words, Kael turned towards Igni, who liked naming his siblings. The Dragon had thought of a name as well but—
“Nyrrion! We can call him Nyrri for short! It will be similar to my name because he is my sibling!”
—before Igni could say anything, Cirri jumped in excitement.
Igni stared at his first sister for a moment and seeing the happy smile on her face—
“Nyrrion does have a powerful sound to it. I like it, Father.”
—the eldest brother gave in.
Kael nodded as well, he liked the name too. He turned towards the not-so-little Laviatharid and,
“How about it? Do you like your name as well?”
At that question, the Laviatharid paused for a moment, he then stared at Cirri, who had named him, Cirri stared back, a little nervous.
But then the not-so-little thing turned back towards his father and nodded, accepting his name.
And as if accepting that, the System Screen appeared in front of Kael.

‘Hmmm…’
Kael momentarily turned silent, analysing the numbers he was seeing.
‘His defense is stronger than all others, but his agility is quite low. The difference between his speed and agility is quite high as well. Does this mean he has a hard time reacting to change? It would be easy to take him by surprise then. I need to…’
As Kael continued to think, little Nyrri, feeling the comfort of his arms, closed his eyes and entered the dreamland.
Clearly, the big boy was too tired after gracing the world with his presence, it was now time for him to sleep.
He had even started snoring lightly.
Kael, who heard his gentle snores, chuckled as he came out of his reverie.
“We should sleep early today.”
He decided to skip training, again.
