Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2849 Stacked Surprises

"Aha~ Well said, Apothecary Mo Tian."

Amidst the loud silence, an unamused yet melodious voice resounded in the palace, causing Davis and everyone else to turn to look at Shirley.

Her laughter only lasted for a second before she turned to look at him with cold eyes.

"Although your presence is far more displeasing to my eyes, there is some truth to your words. The Fire Phoenix Clan did indeed seek to deprive me of my husband, but they have invited me here to make amends for it. Let's see what they have in store for me, and depending on the content of the Blood Soul Contract, my response would be the difference between heaven and earth."

Her head turned to look at the Fire Phoenix Patriarch, causing his cold expression to turn into a smile.

"Don't worry, third inheritor. Our Fire Phoenix Clan will give you a satisfactory response. But before that, I would like to settle everything else so that you can witness our influence and decide for yourself whether it is beneficial for you to return to the clan. The same would be the case for-"

"Fine," Shirley raised her hand, interrupting Patriarch Killian Zenflame, "… but don't get the words wrong. It's not returning when I was never part of your clan in the first place. All I am is an inheritor of the Fire Phoenix Clan in the true immortal world, and you people do not fully represent them. I'm sure the first inheritor and even the other inheritors of every power could understand what I'm saying."

Shirley finally uttered with an amused tone that many immortal inheritors couldn't help but nod their heads.

They left for the Heavenly Ice Stasis Valley as their rulers, but now, there was so much friction in their powers. The power struggles were beyond their control, and if they tried to command the clan, they were met with resistance from the so-called Ancestors in an indirect way.

Looking at each other's faces, they could see that they had experienced similar things.

But at the same time, the leaders of every power couldn't help but doubt Shirley's intent in saying these things that induced disharmony.

"Indeed, and I've made the decision not to join the Candidacy, yet I'm being targeted for it."

But before they could say anything, another woman sighed.

Everyone couldn't help but want to see who it was as their hearts shook from the alluringness of that voice and saw that it was none other than the Blazing Thunderlight Sect's Founder, the third inheritor from the Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Clan.

"Nonsense!"

Instantly, an old man in a purple robe rose and pointed at her, his hoarse voice roaring.

"You irresponsible woman is nothing like young lady Shirley over there. Despite all the friction and even losing her husband, she still strives to excel in cultivation and repay the gratitude the Fire Phoenix Clan from the true immortal world has bestowed upon her, but you…!"

He trembled, his face turning red from anger as though he was going to spit blood.

Everyone saw that it was a Grand Elder from the Blazing Thunderlight Kirin Clan, causing them to not know how to react to this sudden mess.

"Aye~ See what I mean?"

The Blazing Thunderlight Sect's Founder shrugged, "When the Blazing Thunderlight Kirins are proud of their fickleness, can you really blame me? I got corrupted by your people's blood, prioritizing my own life over anything else. Besides, is my decision wrong when I have worked so hard to create the sect I have right now without your clan's help back then?"

"Moreover, isn't it enough that you suffered in the clan when trying to manhandle me? Should I break your bones again?"

"You- pui!~"

"Grand Elder!"

That Grand Elder spat a mouthful of blood, shaking as he fell over to the chair behind him and was caught by his fellow members.

Just as everyone thought that the Blazing Thunderlight Sect's Founder was a true cultivator for rising without a backer, they almost spat out their drinks as she said something preposterous, but looking at the Grand Elder's reaction, they were shocked to find out that her words were indeed true.

It seemed that the Grand Elder did receive some kind of injuries to his body for him to be spitting out blood.

"What manhandle? Stop with your false accusation. I only tried to arrest you, but you were too strong for me to handle, so I had no choice but to call the other Grand Elders."

"…" The Blazing Thunderlight Sect's Founder couldn't help but blink.

The others also had their expressions freeze. This wasn't manhandling but something even worse.

Was this Grand Elder for real?

"You're out of your mind, but even if you were right,  it's not your place to dictate what I can do. Only the man I choose would be capable of doing that, so shut up, old geezer."

She coldly spat out these words, causing that Grand Elder to tremble again.

But it was also like the sound of love knell in the hearts of many young men, causing their hearts to churn with attraction for her as she was wild beyond compare, making them want to conquer her heart, body, and soul.

However, while this was happening, Patriarch Killian Zenflame and the Fire Phoenix Clan Elders kept an eye on Shirley.

Looks like the Emperor of Death truly died. After all, it was said that Shirley was easier to converse with among all the Emperor of Death's women as she was sociable, but it seems like even she was badly affected that her temper was no longer amiable but laced with the coldness of an Ice Essence.

But contrary to their thoughts, Davis had the opposite understanding.

With Shirley's words, he came to understand that they really didn't know it was him.

However, he couldn't understand how they were coping with his supposed death right now. Last time, he heard that they were shattered, but right now, weren't they looking rather undisturbed even though their eyes were dull and their expressions solemn?

Could it be that if he died multiple times, they would lose their love for him?

'The hell am I thinking…? This technique Ellia used must have more to it than it meets the eye...'

Davis imagined. Otherwise, this whole facade of theirs still ignoring him didn't make sense, as he knew his women wouldn't act that skillfully. If it was Mingzhi, Fiora, and Shirley, it would be one thing, but Isabella, Zestria, Bylai, Nadia, Tia, Sophie, Lea, and Yotan were incapable of acting skillfully, especially his Clara, who was also here!

Perhaps, Isabella may be an exception as she had learned to act a lot with him back in the Grand Beginnings Continent, but that was all.

Their figures were too far away from him to notice how they were feeling right now.

"Your name is Mo Tian, right?"

Suddenly, Davis noticed that Patriarch Killian Zenflame turned to stare at him with an eerie smile.

"I heard you claim that you were hunted by the assassin Dead End who is an Anarchic Divergent. However, I really have some doubt whether he is the Anarchic Divergent as I really haven't seen him make any waves around."

Davis nodded, "I heard he could be here, so I came here to get my revenge."

"Is that so? We'll see if we can find the Anarchic Divergent present here."

Patriarch Killian Zenflame gestured, causing Davis's heart to shake as he saw a bunch of white-robed individuals approach him. Their robes were common, but their emblem reminded him of something very familiar.

'Mystic Diviners… from the Heaven Gazing Hall…'

Over… it was over…

Davis heard the sound of his doom approaching, causing his heart to become rattled heavily. After all, one of them or even all could very well be… Fraser Herrion!
