Dimensional Storekeeper
Chapter 181: Xixi Woke Up and Chose Violence Once AgainChapter 181: Xixi Woke Up and Chose Violence Once Again
Beads of sweat rolled down their foreheads. Lots of sweat.
Which was especially concerning since the store was pleasantly cold inside.
Just what the heck did Mo Xixi do?
Well – truth be told – it was nothing too complicated.
She had simply used a curse technique that caused excruciating pain across every nerve in the body.
Direct. Efficient. Demonic Cult Standard™.
The kind of ability that said, “Good morning! Let’s simulate what it feels like to be skinned alive by a thousand invisible ants.”
One of the two – Flinter – started panicking, eyes darting, mouth stammering.
“Wh-Where am I?! Who – who the hell – leader? Are we captured? Are we – ?!”
Then his gaze landed on Kurome.
The black cat, now calmly seated, tail flicking ever so slightly.
The same one that had taken them down like it was nothing.
‘Silence.’
Kurome’s voice echoed directly into their heads.
And the effect was immediate.
Snap. Instant silence. Their mouths clamped shut. Their spines straightened.
They didn’t even dare to move.
The kind of instinctual obedience only possible when your body remembered the trauma better than your brain.
From the side, Zhi stirred from his resting spot, groggy.
The screams had woken him up.
His eyes fluttered open – and then went wide as he saw the black cat lounging there, exuding divine pressure.
The Great Cat God… was in this room?!
Then, his gaze shifted slightly and froze.
Those faces.
His entire body tensed as realization slammed into his brain.
The two people tied up before the cat…
Were rogue cultivators from Blistering Teeth.
The ones responsible for the downfall of their settlement.
The same bastards who had chased and injured them so cruelly.
Zhi’s heart rate jumped so fast. His whole body trembling, caught between fear, rage… and hope.
‘Why are they here?’
‘Did they follow us all the way here too?’
His mind raced in all directions, chasing worst-case scenarios.
Were they trying to finish the job?
But then… his eyes moved to the young man standing before them, calm and collected.
Hao.
He was right there in front of the two restrained rogue cultivators.
‘Does Brother Hao have a connection to the Great Cat God?’
That actually made a lot of sense.
Both of them had saved their life.
One was terrifyingly powerful in an unexplainable way, and the other was… well, a cat deity.
Zhi’s breathing slowed a little.
Still… shame crawled into his chest.
They had brought more trouble to this place.
He gritted his teeth softly.
He didn’t want to cause more problems.
They could trample those two with ease. Anyone could see that.
But even so, he hated the feeling of being protected again.
It was a bitter thing, to be so helpless that your only role was to hide and watch.
He didn’t want to be indebted. But reality wasn’t something you could bargain with.
Then Hao casually clapped his hands together.
“So, you guys good to speak now?”
The two nodded stiffly.
They didn’t know this young man.
But somehow, they knew, just knew, that disobeying him was a bad idea.
A very bad idea.
“Nice.” Hao smiled.
“Let’s start with the basics. Name, affiliation, position in your uh… charming little squad of morons.”
The one on the left, the older one with the rough stubble and leader vibes, quickly answered.
“I… uh, I’m Gou Jin. Member of Blistering Teeth. Squad Leader of the Second Pursuit Fang.”
The other followed, swallowing hard.
“F-Flinter, young master. Also from Blistering Teeth. Just a regular underling. No title…”
Then, as if someone had flipped a survival switch, Flinter’s tone changed immediately.
“B-but personally, I always thought the gang was trash! Absolutely garbage! I only joined because I was poor and desperate, you know?”
“You think I like hurting people? I’ve got a gentle soul, young master! They forced me, I swear! I was just following orders!”
Flinter even threw a vicious side-eye at Gou Jin, like he wasn’t standing right there.
Hao: “…”
Gou Jin: “…”
Of course Hao didn’t believe a single word from Flinter’s desperate yapping session.
Bro really switched sides faster than someone rage-quitting a ranked match and blaming their team.
Still, it wasn’t exactly rare.
In fact, Hao had read so many webnovels where a side character would betray their villainous sect the moment things looked bad, he’d basically memorized the script.
It was always the same: grovel, blame your upbringing, throw your entire faction under the bus, maybe even fake tears if you had time.
Classic.
Gou Jin, meanwhile, looked ready to explode.
The veins in his eyes bulged, overinflated noodles straining at the surface. His fists clenched.
His face twitched with murderous intent as he stared at Flinter, two seconds away from strangling him on the spot.
‘Forget the cat killing you, I’ll do it myself!’ Gou Jin’s eyes screamed.
“Blistering Teeth?!” a sharp female voice interrupted from the store entrance.
Hao blinked. He hadn’t even noticed the door open.
He turned toward the sound.
And standing there, her tiny hands on her hips, was none other than the granny tamer with the body of a child – Yushou Ya’er.
Beside her, her pet beast lizard, Little Liz, stomped one clawed foot down with a deep thunk, tail swaying lazily.
Yushou Ya’er’s mouth was wide open in disbelief, but the moment she realized she was gaping, she smacked her mouth shut with both hands.
Her big eyes narrowed at the two rogue cultivators, full of murder.
“These bastards again…?” Yushou Ya’er muttered.
Even Little Liz growled lowly, clearly remembering something unpleasant.
“You know any of these two, Ya’er?” Hao asked.
Yushou Ya’er folded her arms and gave the trembling men a cold once-over.
“I don’t know those two specifically, storekeeper.”
“But their group? Blistering Teeth? Very infamous.”
Her expression darkened slightly, as did Little Liz’s growl.
“We ran into another squad of them before. Not these guys, but the same gang.”
“Luckily, we managed to escape. If we hadn’t… we probably wouldn’t have discovered this place at all.”
Her meaning was clear.
If not for that narrow escape, she and Little Liz might’ve ended up as nameless corpses somewhere in a ditch.
