Chapter 177: Saving Lives, One Onigiri at a Time!
Mo Xixi’s fingertips shimmered faint red. She pressed both hands over the boy’s chest, just above his core meridians.
A crimson pattern spread out from her palms, veins lighting up.
Ashen Blood Sealing Art.
“Crimson Pulse.”
A rare curse technique passed down from the Ashen Curse Cult. Not one meant for harming others. It was created for saving lives.
The blood flowing from the boy’s wounds slowed. Then stilled. The rise and fall of his chest grew steadier, as if his body had frozen mid-breath to protect itself.
Little Xixi bit her lip, face unusually pale, and extended her other hand to the girl’s side.
The air grew heavier.
Tiny, ash-colored threads began unraveling from her fingers. They glowed faintly red, and sank beneath the girl’s skin.
The threads burrowed deep, stitching not only flesh but winding through bones, wrapping torn muscle, and sealing ruptured vessels.
Ashen Thread Binding Art.
“Bonebind Sutures.”
A cursed suture technique once feared for holding people together even with half their organs ruined. Originally made for the battlefield, it was cruel, painful, and highly effective. Especially for someone already at death’s door.
Mo Xixi never once flinched.
As heir of the fallen Ashen Curse Cult, these weren’t arts she learned for her own use. She was trained to use them on others.
To heal. To keep the dying alive long enough for a healer to finish the job.
The store lights flickered slightly as Mo Xixi’s qi drained away.
The little girl finally let out a shallow breath. Just one. But it was enough.
Hao exhaled.
Then quietly reached out to support Mo Xixi’s back as her fingers began to tremble.
“Good job, Little Xixi.” Hao said softly.
She didn’t answer.
But her shoulders eased. Just a little.
Hao wasn’t sure what exactly Mo Xixi had done, but it was clear she had helped those two.
He felt surprised. She had acted entirely on her own, without any instructions from him.
Was it because she saw herself in the little girl? Or was it the hopelessness of their condition that moved her?
He didn’t have time to dwell on it.
Hastily, Hao stood up and grabbed two Tuna Mayo Onigiri from the shelves.
He tore open the wrappers and bent down beside the boy and girl.
“Little Xixi, help me.”
Mo Xixi nodded. She gently lifted the boy’s head to keep it steady as Hao pried open his mouth and carefully fed him a small bite.
Then she turned to the girl, softly brushing a stray lock of hair from her face and supporting her chin to keep her mouth open while Hao fed her slowly.
Both children were too weak to resist, and Hao made sure they chewed and swallowed the food, gently but firmly guiding their movements.
When the last bites had been swallowed, Hao exhaled with relief.
Almost immediately, a faint glow seemed to ripple beneath their skin.
Earlier, the system responded to Hao’s question on how to save the two.
[Feeding these two Tuna Mayo Onigiri is the solution, host.]
“…”
‘Onigiri?!’
Hao thought the system was joking and even felt annoyed because now was not the right time for it.
Until the system spoke again. [Host, the Tuna Mayo Onigiri is a miracle-grade restorative product, designed to rapidly heal physical injuries.]
Hao and Mo Xixi could see some changes on the outside – he bruises faded and the wounds seemed less severe. But that was not all. The onigiri was already working its wonders deep inside the boy and the little girl.
Muscle tears began knitting together, bruises fading as if brushed away by invisible hands.
Bones that were fractured realigned themselves quietly inside the bodies.
Damaged tissues repaired at an incredible speed.
Internal bleeding stopped and inflammation disappeared without a trace or side effect.
Joints and tendons realigned, restoring movement and easing pain.
The wounds that would normally take weeks to heal closed almost fully within moments.
Neither of them regained spiritual qi, but their bodies were suddenly able to support themselves more fully.
Their faces remained pale, their breaths shallow and weak.
They were far from strong.
Exhausted in both body and spirit, they still looked like walking corpses.
It was as if the grim reaper himself had been waiting at the door, but had been pushed back for now.
This transformation was all thanks to the main ingredient in the Tuna Mayo Onigiri.
The Crystalfin Leviathan Tuna.
A monstrous titanic fish from the abyssal depths of Skyburrow Ring Shore. Its body covered in shimmering crystal-like scales, these scales absorbed and stored life-rich qi from the surrounding waters.
That stored qi infused its flesh with extraordinary regenerative properties.
When consumed, the energy within the tuna’s meat passed into the eater’s body, accelerating natural healing processes far beyond normal limits.
Slowly, the scars left behind by Mo Xixi’s Ashen Thread Binding Art faded away, the faint crimson patterns dissolving as though erased by time itself.
Hao’s eyes caught two cans lying on the floor – Wing Blast, freshly delivered by the great couriers inside the store, Yoru and Tsuki!
Hao patted the two and quickly picked up both cans. Mo Xixi seemed to know exactly what he was about to do. She synced with Hao perfectly – opening the boy’s mouth carefully as Hao began pouring the Wing Blast inside.
The boy’s reaction was immediate. His body jerked slightly, coughing, but no blood came up. Instead, his eyes snapped open wide, pupils dilated like he’d just woken from a deep, heavy sleep.
“Cough… cough…” he sputtered, trying to catch his breath. His gaze was unfocused but alive, as if some fog had been lifted.
Mo Xixi moved on to the little girl, and they repeated the process. Her mouth opened slowly under Mo Xixi’s gentle hands, and Hao poured the other can of Wing Blast carefully in.
After a moment, the girl’s pale skin began to regain color – a soft pink creeping back to her cheeks – but she still lay unconscious, her breathing steady but faint.
The boy blinked a few times, trying to process what was happening. A strange warmth spread through his limbs, soothing every ache.
It felt as if he were floating in paradise, the heaviness that had weighed on him lifting for the first time in what felt like forever.
His last memory before everything went blank was of a black cat’s whisper in his mind, and the creaky old outhouse he had entered.
Then came darkness.
