Eris and Sera didn’t stop.
With the Revenant Warlord slain and the border cities stabilized, the two warriors continued their march through the Wolfgang Empire, cutting down every threat in their path.
The empire’s once-proud roads, built to withstand the passage of mighty beastkin warriors, were now littered with the remnants of battle—shattered weapons, blood-stained banners, and the bodies of both monsters and soldiers alike.
The deeper they traveled, the worse the situation became.
Cities stood half-destroyed, their walls cracked from relentless monster assaults. The air was thick with the stench of burning wood and death, and in the distance, eerie howls echoed through the ruined streets.
But the Wolfgang Empire was not broken yet.
All across the land, its warriors fought back—adventurers, mercenaries, and soldiers standing together against the chaos.
And Eris and Sera made sure none of them fought alone.
Their next battlefield was Vardun’s Crossing, a strategic stronghold sitting between the empire’s capital and the western territories.
It was a critical defense point—if it fell, the monsters would have a direct path to the heart of the empire.
When Eris and Sera arrived, the situation was grim.
The walls were barely holding, with hundreds of wolf-kin warriors fighting tooth and nail against a massive horde of corrupted beasts.
Among them were giant tusked ogres, their bodies pulsing with dark energy.
Nightmarish shadow panthers, nearly invisible in the dim light, weaved through the battlefield, slashing through their prey like ghosts.
And worst of all—
A Chimera King.
The monstrous three-headed beast stood at the center of the battlefield, its lion’s maw breathing black fire, its draconic wings casting a shadow over the entire city.
Its presence alone was enough to make warriors hesitate, fear creeping into their hearts.
But Eris and Sera?
They didn’t hesitate at all.
Eris was the first to act.
She strode forward, her white hair whipping wildly in the wind.
“Wind Domain: Wrathful Tempest.”
The moment she invoked her power, the battlefield changed.
The howling wind turned into a furious storm, blades of condensed air forming and tearing through the enemy ranks.
SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!
Dozens of monsters were instantly bisected, their bodies collapsing before they even realized they had been cut.
The wolf-kin warriors, initially caught in despair, roared in renewed determination.
“Reinforcements! The Frostwind Princess our princess has arrived!”
Their morale surged, and they launched a counterattack, pushing forward with newfound strength.
Meanwhile, Sera disappeared.
The battlefield became her hunting ground.
One moment, a shadow panther lunged at an injured soldier—only for its head to vanish, neatly severed by an unseen blade.
A corrupted ogre raised its massive club, preparing to crush a group of defenders—
SHNK!
A dagger pierced its skull, sinking deep before Sera reappeared behind it, already moving to her next target.
She was everywhere and nowhere, her presence felt only by the monsters as they fell one by one.
And then—
The Chimera King moved.
Its massive form leapt, wings spreading as it roared, spewing black flames across the battlefield.
The flames swallowed everything in their path, reducing men and monsters alike to ash.
But before the fire could spread—
BOOM!
A barrier of wind erupted, extinguishing the flames in an instant.
Eris stood at the center, her golden eyes burning with determination.
She raised her sword.
“Sera.”
Sera appeared beside her in a flicker of shadows, her honey-colored eyes gleaming.
“Together?” she asked.
Eris smirked. “Together.”
And then—
They attacked.
The Chimera King was fast.
Its three heads worked in perfect coordination, its lion’s mouth spewing black fire, its serpent tail striking like a whip, and its draconic jaws unleashing shockwaves that tore apart the battlefield.
But Eris and Sera were faster.
Eris dashed through the storm, using the winds to propel her movements, her blade clashing against the Chimera’s claws in a frenzied exchange.
Every time its tail struck, she dodged at the last second, countering with precise, devastating slashes.
Sera, meanwhile, became a shadow.
She darted around the battlefield, appearing and disappearing as she struck at the Chimera’s weak points—its joints, its eyes, the gaps between its scales.
Every strike weakened it.
Every attack pushed it closer to death.
The Chimera roared in fury, trying to crush them with sheer force.
But—
Eris leapt into the air, the storm carrying her higher.
She raised her sword, wind gathering at its tip—
“Wind Domain: Sky Severing Blade!”
With one mighty swing, she brought the sword down.
BOOOOOM!
A massive crescent of wind energy tore through the Chimera King’s body, cutting through its thick hide like paper.
The beast shrieked, its torso splitting apart, blood raining onto the battlefield.
And before it could even hit the ground—
Sera appeared behind it.
She whispered, her voice like death itself.
“Nightfall Execution.”
SHNK.
Her blade pierced the Chimera King’s skull, severing its last shred of life.
Its massive body collapsed, the impact shaking the entire battlefield.
Silence.
Then—
A deafening cheer erupted from the Wolfgang warriors.
They had won.
With Vardun’s Crossing secured, the empire’s forces rallied.
Eris and Sera led the charge deeper into the empire, cutting through enemy lines like a hurricane and a phantom.
Every battlefield they arrived at turned into a victory.
Cities were saved, soldiers were rescued, and the empire’s flag rose high once more.
But the deeper they went—
The darker the enemy became.
The capital loomed ahead.
And within its walls—
Something far worse than mere monsters waited for them.
The war had intensified.
Across every continent, the fabric of civilization trembled as monstrous waves surged forth, unstoppable tides of destruction consuming villages, cities, and lives in their wake.
What had begun as isolated dungeon breakouts had now turned into a worldwide catastrophe.
No land was spared.
From the frozen tundras of the north to the scorching deserts of the south, from the elven forests to the human kingdoms, the darkness spread—an unstoppable calamity creeping into every corner of the world.
And as the world burned, its defenders rose.
Alex and the others were busy dealing with this. They were bidding their time because the big shots from the chaos organization hadn’t really moved yet, there were lurking in the darkness causing trouble here and there.
