Chapter 373 A Small Hell
Caspian went to find Percy after leaving Tilla’s room. He didn’t want to face the hassle of knocking on some random door and asking the maids or servants who Beatrice was, then finding her and finally asking her to follow him to the punishment room.
So, he left the task of bringing Beatrice to the punishment room to Percy, and he, on the other hand, headed to the room first.
As soon as he entered the room, he was welcomed by the sight of the severed body of Marcella which had turned ashy-grey by now. It almost looked as if someone had carved a life-like replica of the maid in a stone.
“You are the one who tried to feed on my wife, huh?” Caspian mumbled while glaring down at the head of that maid.
Although the body was in a state that was beyond repair already, Caspian felt like tearing it off into several small pieces and plucking the heart out. He had thought that his anger had subsided to some extent. But seeing the fangs that were still intact made him lose his cool again.
Right then, he heard a female screaming in a distance.
“No. Please don’t take me there. Please show me some mercy. Please don’t take me to that room!”
Caspian turned his head to glare outside the door, into the empty and dark corridor. “Here comes another one!” he smirked. His smirk looked so devilish that if anyone had witnessed it, they would have felt a chilling sensation down to their bones.
He then calmly turned to face the only chair that was in the room. And slowly, he stepped towards that chair, the chair that looked like the devil’s throne. The room was also no less than a small hell for those who broke the law or angered the King in any way.
This was the room where most would meet their end once they stepped inside.
Beatrice knew that she was in deep trouble the moment Percy asked her to follow him to that room.
And because she knew that, she tried begging Percy for mercy and even tried resisting going to the punishment room. As a result, Percy had to drag her to that room without showing a drop of mercy.
It didn’t take much time for Beatrice and Percy to arrive at the door of the said room.
The moment Beatrice’s eyes fell on the dead body of her friend, she collapsed to her knees. Although she had already heard about the death of her friend, seeing that decapitated body made her feel terrified to her core.
“Come on in,” Percy grabbed Beatrice by her wrist and tried to pull her inside the room.
Beatrice still managed to grab a hold of the door and then clung there while shouting again. “Please, Mr. Percy. I was just accompanying her because she asked me to. I didn’t do anything to harm the Queen in any way. I wasn’t even present there at the scene when the Queen came there. Please let me go… Please, I beg you.”
“You should say all that to the King,” Percy said in a monotone, unfazed by the pleas of that maid.
Thanks to her and Marcella, even he was in danger of being persecuted at the moment. And even if he wanted to, he wasn’t the one who had the right to forgive Beatrice for her actions.
“Please help m–”
“Oh, just stop the begging already!” Caspian’s loud and clear order echoed throughout the room.
In her helplessness, Beatrice had failed to notice that the King was already sitting at the other end of the room in silence. And the moment she heard the King’s voice, she froze in fear.
Not a single word of protest came out of her mouth when Percy dragged her inside the room and pushed her by the side of the body of her dead friend. All she could do was gather her gown to prevent it from touching Marcella’s body and kneel down in fear.
“Thank you, Percy. You may leave for now,” Caspian ordered the head servant.
Beatrice felt her heart sinking when she heard the door of the room slamming shut. It was just her and the King in the room now. Her whole body started to tremble when she imagined herself ending up like her friend.
Caspian stepped out of his chair and then slowly walked towards that maid. The sound of his footsteps began echoing in that silent and cold room.
And with each step that Caspian took in the direction of that maid, her heart was one step closer to freezing because of fear. She felt as if they were deep inside a forest, and she was being preyed upon by the King.
She didn’t even have the courage to breathe when Caspian stopped a few steps in front of her and looked down at her as if he was going to hunt her down and tear her into pieces.
Caspian held his arms behind his back. His claws were on the ready already, but he wanted to hear that maid out before putting an end to her misery.
“I forgot to ask Tilla what you did to her. Speak!” he growled at her, sending cold shivers down her spine.
The maid shook in terror when she heard that pain-inducing voice of the King. She quickly looked down at the floor, unable to withstand that bone-chilling glare from him.
And although she wasn’t even able to move her lips because of fear, she was more afraid that the King would slice her head off if she didn’t speak. Thus, she forced herself to produce some words. “I w-was just standing guard for Marcella. I didn’t want to do that, but Marcella f-forced me to.”
“So, you witnessed the crime happening right in front of your eyes and didn’t do anything to intervene?” Caspian clenched his jaw, making one of the veins on his temple bulge. And he snarled at w-was just standing guard for Marcella. I didn’t want to do that, but Marcella f-forced me to.”
“So, you witnessed the crime happening right in front of your eyes and didn’t do anything to her, “You didn’t think that it was necessary to stop your friend when she was violating another fellow staff?”
“Please forgive me, Your Highness,” Beatrice bowed her head low, almost touching the floor with her forehead.
Caspian was even enraged to see her begging for forgiveness. He gritted his teeth and asked in a cold threatening tone, “Do you realize that your inaction almost led to my wife getting killed by your beloved friend?”
