Chaos Heir

Chapter 1231 Uncle

Chapter 1231 Uncle

The new situation inside Carlos' ship wasn't without friction, but Khan and Liiza were gods among ants. Their word was divine law that their roommates had to abide by, no matter how unwilling they were.

Luckily, people in those illegal environments were used to compromises, so everything stabilized rather quickly, creating a relative peace mostly meant to keep the two fearsome leaders at bay.

Dealing with Tamara's pheromones had been the first order of business. Liiza was like Khan. She couldn't sense or spot that unique alien trait on her own. Having found her one prevented her from doing that, but her expertise compensated for that enviable flaw.

It turned out Liiza didn't need to target the pheromones specifically. She only had to make a numbing potion that carried Tamara's features. Anyone drinking it would have their lust and similar drives greatly sedated when the little Nele was around, counteracting her troublesome innate ability.

Of course, everyone but Khan and Liiza had to drink that potion. The event had become a daily occurrence by then, turning into a proper custom in that isolated lifestyle inside the ship.

The former captives came next. Khan truly felt bad about forcing those women to switch from one cage to another, but they adapted better and faster than they had predicted. They needed time to process their traumatic experience anyway, so their comfortable stay on the ship acted as their rehab.

Liiza obviously supported those women with whatever she could concoct, but Carlos' crew also played a significant role. Khan's crewmates were de facto criminals but also relatively decent people. Their morals were slightly screwed, but they became of service, helping those former captives in their daily needs.

Truthfully, Khan believed that was another way to appease him and Liiza. Part of it also had to be to kill time in the spaceship's dull environment, but Khan wouldn't complain as long as it served that enforced peace.

A point that didn't go as well involved Milia 222. Khan could contact the lawless zone, but pushing his message to the Nele had revealed itself to be quite tricky. It turned out that the species had only become more alert after the Nak's hand crisis, limiting its interaction with its roommates.

It didn't help that Khan couldn't just come clean about his identity during traceable communications and while dealing with middlemen. That simply wasn't the safest option for Tamara. His current ship also lacked the Fuveall's cloaking methods, so he was finding it hard to establish contact.

'Tell them to tell the Nele to tell Jenna "You are impossible",' Khan wrote on his phone, sighing and throwing it on the control desk once he sent the message. 'This is getting needlessly convoluted.'

The lack of trusted assets and secure channels had forced Khan to rely on his family. Still, Baoway only had humans and Fuveall as potential connections with Milia 222, and Khan would never choose the latter to interact with the Nele. Their stance against that nature-loving species would create more problems than not.

Nevertheless, using humans didn't improve the odds by a decent margin. If anything, the sudden interest in the Nele by those unknown parties was bound to make the former more suspicious.

Khan could only hope the Nele wouldn't disregard his message entirely and would deliver it to Jenna. He would have to land on Milia 222 otherwise, which was something he would rather avoid.

The glass on the seat's cupholder soon claimed Khan's attention. One good aspect of having revealed his identity was that he could drink in public again. That wasn't Liiza's superior booze since she had to ration the available supplies, but Mister Broze's cargo had decent enough bottles.

Khan sipped from his drink, reviewing the map on the control desk. He was flying through regulated areas, but Carlos' cover was holding strong, masking the vessel as a lawful cargo ship. Khan had received some help from his family on that, too, but a trail existed now, and the journey had only just begun.

The bridge's door opened, but Khan had predicted that event before it happened. A familiar cold presence drew near, eventually bathing him in a white light and delivering a cold kiss to his lips.

Liiza yawned before settling on Khan's lap, snuggling closer to fend off her intrinsic cold. She was far busier than Khan in those days. He only had to pilot the ship, while Liiza had to concoct potions nonstop, so he held her while refilling his glass.

"What happened?" Khan asked, kissing Liiza's head while her faint anger flowed through the mental connection.

"It's those women," Liiza snorted, rubbing her face on Khan's chest while bringing it to his neck. "They got better only to lust after you."

Faint pain spread from Khan's neck when Liiza's teeth dug into it. He chuckled, unable to hold back his teasing question. "Did you kill anyone?"

"Not yet," Liiza pouted, annoyed at how Khan had become virtually immune to hickeys. "They don't dare to say it to my face anyway. I had to catch Tamara asking Carlos what a harem was to understand what was happening."

"She is such a sweet kid," Khan smirked, feeling proud for some reason. "She sure adjusted quickly. I never thought I'd see a Nele being so carefree among humans and Orlats."

"Someone made her feel safe," Liiza said, turning Khan's head toward her to kiss him again.

Khan placed his forehead on Liiza's before offering her his drink. She took it but only stared at it for a few seconds before looking up again and straightening her back.

Liiza placed the full glass on the control desk before focusing on Khan, her hands diving into his hair. Her tempting expression told a story of its own, and she even bit her lower lip to deliver a killing blow.

"[This protective fatherly side of yours]," Liiza whispered, reaching for Khan's ear. "[I still have to show you how it makes me feel]."

"[I remember you tried a few times already]," Khan joked, only to laugh when Liiza bit his ear.

"[Get us in the air]," Liiza ordered, her tone almost sounding pleading, revealing how little self-control she had left. "[We'll break the bridge otherwise]."

Khan wanted to joke again, but Liiza sealed his lips with hers, and his mind pushed away any thought that didn't involve his wife. His cells came alive, ready to make him levitate, but the bridge's door suddenly opened again.

"Uncle Khan! Uncle Khan!" Tamara's chirping voice resounded through the bridge alongside her hurried steps.

Khan risked groaning at that sudden interruption, but Liiza hid his face on her chest, peeking past the pilot's seat to smile at the incoming kid.

Tamara didn't notice she had interrupted something. She rushed toward the seat, and Liiza moved aside, making room for her and helping her climb on Khan's lap.

Khan kept his face on Liiza's chest but peeked at the cute girl staring at him. He now had Liiza on one leg and Tamara on the other and couldn't refrain from hugging them both.

"What happened?" Khan asked, used to that new title by then. He didn't know when or why he had become Tamara's uncle, but correcting her never crossed his mind.

"Carlos showed me the engine room," Tamara exclaimed, clearly beyond excited. "They are so big!"

"Of course," Khan chuckled, securing Tamara on his lap. "This is a big ship. It needs big engines to move."

Liiza was still weak, and that fatherly vibe didn't help. Still, she could only cling harder to Khan's hair, almost squeezing him to her chest while her other hand went to caress Tamara's head.

"Tamara," Liiza called, feigning a pout. "Why is Khan Uncle Khan, but I'm still Liiza? I'm his wife."

"But Liiza is too young and beautiful to be my Aunt," Tamara innocently replied.

"You are so precious," Liiza gasped, letting go of Khan's head to grab Tamara, lifting and placing her on her lap and holding her tightly.

"You are cold!" Tamara whined, but Khan soon joined the embrace, adding his arms to the cold limbs wrapped around her waist.

"You are such a good kid," Liiza exclaimed, placing her chin on Tamara's head. "Can I adopt you?"

"But Tamara has a Mama and a Papa already," Tamara responded.

The couple had discovered that only a few days ago. It turned out Tamara had been traveling with relatives, planning to reunite with her parents. She didn't know which secret colony they were in, so Khan stuck to the original plan of heading for Milia 222.

Tamara's story was still tragic, but the fact that her parents were still alive somewhere was a decent silver lining. As for finding them, Khan would leave that part to Jenna.

"And they are incredibly lucky," Liiza stated, "But what have you done to my braids?"

"They aren't as cute as those you braided for Uncle Khan," Tamara complained, crossing her arms.

Khan couldn't contain his laugh, not caring about the scolding gaze that fell on him. Liiza was usually cold and aloof to strangers, so seeing her getting all cute when dealing with Tamara warmed him to no end, relaxing him enough to show genuine reactions.

The scene had actually become a common sight after almost two weeks of flight. Khan, Liiza, and Tamara nearly behaved like a real family, but something disturbed the loving moment at that time.

A beeping noise resounded from the control desk, and Khan moved Liiza and Tamara to his left leg to reach forward with his right arm. The ship's scanners didn't get any better after Khan took over, but the issue was close enough for them to obtain a clear picture.

Khan sent the picture toward one of the screens above the desk, revealing a strange ship flying toward his position. The vehicle was small, with a vaguely cubical central body. Two thick wings stretched at its sides, powered by three engines each.

Red lights also shone over the vehicle, running through channels that seemed to split its hull into separate metal tiles. That glow and the ship's black metal felt familiar, and Khan received his answer when Liiza called him.

"[Khan]," Liiza muttered in her language, wary. "[That's Niqols]."
