Chapter 1103 Wake

Khan didn't plan on wasting time in that environment but couldn't help himself at that sight. He recognized the object that had sealed the cavity, and his senses soon became able to study its insides.

It seemed the flexible membrane had enhanced the Great Old One's ability to mask its aura, preventing Khan from perceiving its insides. That, or the Great Old One had stopped hiding, allowing Khan to sense the entirety of its existence and the might it carried.

The lake had shown humanoid giants, but the membrane contained nothing remotely human. The victor of that ancient war had been tiny in comparison, but its presence was nothing short of colossal.

Khan didn't think everything through, and facing that unthinkable reality inevitably led to hesitation. He didn't change his mind, but his brain needed time to absorb that gargantuan scene, time the Great Old One didn't give to him.

The blue moist wall disappeared alongside that towering black slit, and Khan's survival instincts rang every bell at their disposal. He promptly kicked forward, planning to push himself away, but something seemingly unbreakable collided with his foot, doing his job for him.

The event had taken Khan by surprise, but speed had always been his strongest point. His kick was aimed at countering any force that tried to crush him, but the sudden attack meant no harm. It only wanted to fling Khan away, and the two fused to create an incredible momentum.

Khan flew backward faster than he had ever done before, faster than he was capable of. His senses failed to keep up with him, filling his perception with fragmented images and updates. Still, his destructive aura held strong, preventing him from slamming into the not-waters and saving him from certain death.

The not-waters didn't depart. They disappeared as soon as they touched Khan's aura. He flew unhindered through the sea, diagonally rising at unfathomable speed. His momentum showed no signs of dispersing, and the environment changed before he could do anything about it.

Natural light returned to the world. Dense air slammed on Khan's back, threatening to scrape his skin and clothes, and the sea's surface filled his vision. His aura quickly changed target, removing the atmosphere's friction force while his legs kicked downward, releasing a tinge of mana to use as a foothold.

Khan stopped in the middle of the sky, his destructive aura receding to allow breathable air to reach his nostrils. His lungs cheered at that more comfortable environment, but no smile appeared on his face. His pilot's technique had dispersed long ago, and the culprit quickly approached him.

An immense shadow swam far under the sea's surface, but the world in Khan's eyes was bright, so he could see that brighter, colossal figure. The random waves of green mana among the blue not-waters paled in comparison. A long, giant green calamity was rising through the world, emerging after eons of seclusion.

And then, Khan became able to see it without relying on his heightened perception or superior eyes. The sea parted and churned. Tall waves rose and crumbled, crashing and shattering on each other from every direction.

A natural cataclysm descended upon the sea until its whole surface rose, seemingly attempting to reach for the sky. A pillar of not-waters climbed through the air, crumbling at its sides to create colossal cascades. A triangular tsunami took shape, and something even bigger eventually emerged from its tip.

Khan first spotted a green scale, then a hundred, then more than he could count. An immense reptilian mouth pierced the tsunami and rose even further, revealing the rest of its wet, pristine, and gargantuan body.

Khan hadn't seen many ordinary animals in his life. The Slums mostly had rats, which its inhabitants ate, while the other planets had been full of Tainted creatures. Still, he had stumbled upon various depictions during his studies, and that seemingly endless body turned out to be quite familiar.

The Great Old One wasn't a god. It wasn't a humanoid giant, either. It was an immense, scaled creature that resembled a sea snake. Its reptilian head had two flexible horns, and relatively small fins rose from its body and tail, but Khan couldn't help but ignore those details to focus on more shocking aspects.

The gargantuan creature climbed through the sky without needing wings or techniques. Even the symphony didn't help nor provide footholds like with Khan. The Great Old One looked capable of true flight, an ability that came directly from its body.

As the creature left the sea and coiled itself in the sky, Khan's brain made calculations. He had seen a great deal of things in his life, and some had built himself, but the scene surpassed his broad understanding of reality.

The ancient creature's seemingly endless body eventually ended, rising into the sky and allowing Khan to study it in its entirety, as well as mentally gasp at its incredible size.

Ordinary measurements were pointless there, so Khan compared that gargantuan body with something he was familiar with. His city in Baoway and the vast encampment that encircled it covered a quite sizeable piece of land, but the ancient creature was bigger.

Moreover, the Great Old One wasn't only big. Its body was thick, being as wide as multiple warehouses. It could cover entire blocks of Earth's greatest cities in its coiled state, and Khan couldn't even begin to imagine how long it would be when stretched straight.

As for the creature's thickness and resilience, Khan could only wonder. Actually, he couldn't. Even after countless strange experiences, incredible perception, and the broadest perspective in the world, his brain couldn't fathom the Great Old One's true might.

Khan only knew one thing, which was far from reassuring. He didn't have any idea how the snake was capable of flight, let alone what it would take to kill it.

"Heir to the Nak's Chaos," The Great Old One spoke, hissing human words while one side of its reptilian head pointed its giant blue eye at him. "You interrupted our hibernation, and now the galaxy will shake in our wake."
