Chapter 894: I’m not a newcomer
Kyle arrived outside the Golden Guardians Clan’s territory, the glowing core clutched in his hand. He burst into laughter, tossing the glowing core lightly between his palms.
“Damn, that was exciting.”
His eyes gleamed as he tossed the core into his mind space, then looked down at the floating stretch of land beneath him.
“Alright—time to find a good place to meditate and get even stronger.”
And he knew just the spot—the energy-rich green mountains he had seen the first time he stepped into the golden guardians clan.
Stretching his body, he smirked, fully ready to have a good fight with the old Celestials who had dared to harm him back then.
“I’m sure Ares isn’t back yet.”
And he knew he was right—Clan Leader Ares was probably still outside the Hell’s Layer. As for what he was up to, Kyle didn’t dwell on it. Thinking too much might make him feel guilty—and that was the last thing he needed. Besides, Ares wasn’t weak. And he wasn’t alone either; Cassian and many other powerful Celestials were with him.
So, they would be fine. Probably.
Even if… let’s say, a massive creature just happened to burst out of the Hell’s Layer.
Right?
He straightened his clothes and quickly stepped through the barriers guarding the Golden Guardians Clan’s territory. Though invisible, their presence was unmistakable.
Immediately, the familiar air—filled with natural energy—greeted him, and the same green landscape stretched out before him.
In the blink of an eye, he vanished—only to reappear right in front of the clan’s gates.
But the familiar guards stationed outside didn’t greet him as they usually did. Instead, they pointed their weapons at him. One of them came forward and gave a polite nod.
“Who are you, esteemed one? State your purpose for visiting our clan.”
Only then did Kyle finally realize that his appearance had changed. He had entered the clan under a disguise. Now that he was here showing his real appearance, it made sense the guards didn’t recognize him. He looked at his hair, unsure how to explain.
Also, what was up with the title ’Esteemed One’? Was he being called that because he was stronger now? Then again, power had always changed how people were treated.
He cleared his throat.
“I’m a member of this clan.”
The guard in front of him raised a brow, though he didn’t look all that surprised.
“A new clan member? Did the Clan Leader find and recruit another newcomer…? Well, it’s been a few months since the last ones.”
Another guard behind him muttered.
“But where would he find someone this powerful? Some of the guards are already getting dizzy from the aura he’s giving off.”
Hearing him, Kyle quickly suppressed his Celestial aura. The aura had an enchanting effect—one that compelled anyone weaker to instinctively submit to its wielder.
He should’ve hidden it from the beginning, but since Cassian hadn’t been affected, he assumed no one else would be either.
Sighing, he was just about to clear up the guards’ misunderstanding—that he wasn’t some newcomer—when a familiar figure suddenly flew out from the clan gates.
It was Silver.
The Gatekeeper of the clan.
She wore a flowing robe similar in style to the one he had first seen her in, though the hue was different this time. Her figure was still draped in an almost excessive amount of jewelry, each piece catching the light as she angrily snapped the wooden fan in her hands shut with a sharp flick.
“What’s all this commotion?”
Her eyes, visible through the flowing veil covering her face, flashed with irritation.
“Can’t you understand I was resting?”
Yet the moment her eyes landed on Kyle, Silver’s demeanor changed in an instant.
She blinked, paused for a moment, then casually turned away to smooth her hair.
A moment later, she floated down in front of him, unfolding her fan with ease—as if the one shouting earlier hadn’t been her.
“I didn’t realize we had an esteemed guest. My apologies for overlooking the presence of someone so ethereal. But you are…?”
Her gaze flicked toward the guards, only to find them all just as clueless as she was.
Kyle was left speechless.
Wasn’t the shift in her attitude—between their first meeting and now—too extreme?
He shook his head.
“I’m a member of this clan—”
Before he could finish, Silver snapped her fan shut, realization flashing in her eyes.
“A new member? Did my dear… Ahem, did Clan Leader Ares send you here?”
Kyle’s eyebrow twitched as she added.
“Please don’t misunderstand. Clan Leader Ares and I have no special relationship.”
So, he replied politely.
“I’m married.”
She blinked, then glanced at his hands.
“But you are not wearing a ring. And Celestials often take multiple wives, considering how long they live.”
Kyle was forced to glance down at his hands. Sure enough, there wasn’t a ring.
He should’ve gotten one for Yue—and for himself. But after their marriage, they had both been busy with saving their world.
A bitter smile tugged at his lips.
She probably resented him for that… didn’t she? He’d left without even giving her a ring.
How could he be such a bad husband?
He glanced at Silver, a soft smile curving his lips—one that made everyone dazed.
“Thank you for pointing that out—really. I should get rings. And not just any kind, but the most beautiful ones I can find, so I can give one to my wife when she arrives here.”
Unfortunately, his soft smile faded soon after he finished talking about his wife.
“Also, I’m not a newcomer. I joined the clan months ago—Kyle. Does that ring a bell? My hair and eye color just changed, that’s all.”
Silver blinked, stunned.
“Huh? That Kyle?! The plain-looking one who just had his height? No way—how?!”
But Kyle was already walking away, speaking to the leader of the guards.
“I’d like to go in.”
He said calmly.
The head guard straightened at once. The instant he saw the identity card Kyle took out—personally given by Ares—he shouted.
“Open the gates!”
