Chapter 892: He’ll be out soon

Outside the entrance to Hell’s Layer, Ares was busy pushing the elderly Celestials he had gathered toward the dark wormhole.

His face radiated righteousness, but his words were laced with forced sweetness.

“I said Elders, you all jump in there first! I will be right behind you—promise! Really!”

Unsurprisingly, no one believed him.

Obviously, his plan was to have them jump into that deadly place first—while he simply waited outside for moral support! They had known him long enough to know that!

Ares had gathered these Celestials from various clans—clans that were indebted to him for past favors he had done for them.

He claimed he needed their help to rescue two of his clan members who’d been cast into Hell’s Layer. The Rulers were involved, which made the task all the more serious.

But because they were indebted to him, the leaders of those clans clenched their jaws and reluctantly send their elders to assist.

But now? This shameless brat was really pushing his luck! He wouldn’t enter Hell’s Layer himself, yet expected them to leap into that cursed place headfirst?

Where was the justice in that?!

Whose clan members were they even risking their lives for again?

Ares dramatically wiped imaginary sweat from his brow, eyeing the unmoving elders with exaggerated exasperation—even after trying to shove them, not one had budged.

“Elders, it took me months to gather you! We’re wasting time! What if the people I’m trying to save die? Please, just jump in!”

One of them looked at him flatly.

“Clan Leader Ares, you are the strongest among us. So, stop pretending to be weak and just lead the way. The Hell’s Layer isn’t somewhere anyone can charge into blindly. If we truly want to find and help those who were thrown in, we’ll need to go together.”

Ares facepalmed. There was a reason he had gathered them. The reason? He had no intention of entering Hell’s Layer himself.

Sure, he wanted to save Cassian and Kyle.

But he hated pain! The chaotic energy inside that place would tear his body to shreds. No way was he going in there.

He took a deep breath.

“You’ve left me no choice.”

Everyone assumed he had finally stopped being stubborn and was about to go in first.

Unbeknownst to them, Ares was actually preparing to unleash his strongest natural law—to forcefully hurl them all inside. After all, once they were in, they would have no choice but to do what they were here for.

But before he could act, a calm, familiar voice echoed from behind them—instantly freezing everyone in place.

“No need to go that far.”

Ares’s gaze snapped toward the speaker, only to meet a familiar pair of red eyes.

Cassian shook his head as he took in the scene—and with just one look at Ares, he knew exactly what he was about to do.

“You never change. Kind, but…”

He didn’t say the rest aloud.

’…a scaredy cat.’

Yet, for some reason, everyone present understood the part Cassian left unsaid.

But that wasn’t important. What mattered was that someone had emerged from the Hell’s Layer on their own—and even more shockingly, they’d come out in one piece!

One of the elderly Celestials eyed Cassian from head to toe—the glow radiating from Cassian’s body, the calm aura surrounding him… and not a single scratch in sight.

“How…?”

He muttered, disbelief lacing his voice.

Truthfully, everyone was thinking the same thing as they stared at the ethereal-looking Celestial floating before them, his flawless, skin unmarred by even the tiniest blemish.

Cassian clicked his tongue in annoyance.

It wasn’t just the fact that he had emerged from Hell’s Layer that drew all the attention—it was that he had come out unscathed.

As much as he hated to admit it, all the credit went to Kyle. That terrifying healing ability—the one that had frozen him into a statue—had completely healed his body.

To make matters worse, the pristine white clothes Cassian wore only made him look even more untouched—like he’d just come back from a retreat instead of Hell’s Layer.

Perhaps copying Kyle’s outfit hadn’t been the smartest choice after all. He sighed.

Suddenly, Ares materialized in front of him, tightly clutching both of his shoulders, his wide amethyst eyes gleaming with relief.

“I knew you’d make it out alive!”

Cassian’s eyebrow twitched.

’I doubt that.’

Obviously, he didn’t say that out loud.

Ares gave him a few enthusiastic shakes, smiling brightly. Unlike the other Celestials, he didn’t ask how Cassian had survived—clearly not wanting to pry into whatever powerful law had helped him escape.

Natural laws were precious.

Not many were willing to share theirs.

Then, finally, Ares looked past him. His smile faded when he saw no one else.

“Where’s Kyle?”

Cassian blinked and glanced behind him. Wasn’t Kyle just right there? Why hadn’t he come out yet? What was he up to now? He brushed Ares’s hands off his shoulders.

“He’ll be out soon.”

Ares frowned.

“Are you sure?”

Cassian gave him a flat look.

“Please. Nothing gonna happen to him. If you had seen what I did, you wouldn’t be wasting your worry on that guy.”

Ares raised a brow at his words.

It sounded like he had missed something interesting. Maybe he should have jumped into Hell’s Layer after all. Regardless, regret wouldn’t help now. And Ares knew himself—he still wouldn’t jump in, even now. So, they started waiting for Kyle to come out.

And waited.

And waited.

But even after an entire day, there was still no sign of Kyle—not even a shadow. Ares stared into the Hell’s Layer with a solemn expression before glancing at Cassian.

“How about you go back in and drag him out? What the hell is that prick even—”

But before Ares could finish, a sudden, suffocating pressure exploded from the Hell’s Layer, tearing through the air. The shockwave sent everyone outside flying.

The space around the wormhole warped and groaned under the sheer force. Then—without warning—a massive, monstrous, dark entity surged out of the wormhole.

The creature was a chaotic mixture of shadow and natural energy. It roared in anger, the sound shaking everything.

Cassian regained his balance, his crimson eyes widening as he took in the sight of the creature—or more specifically, the massive empty space between its shoulders where its core should’ve been. He turned to Ares, who wore the same horrified expression.

“I think I know what Kyle was doing.”

Ares let out a strangled laugh of disbelief.

“That bastard found an ancient, sleeping Voidspawn in there… and stole its core!”

The surrounding Celestials stiffened. After all—those creatures had long gone extinct!
