Chapter 10: The Five Overlords

Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Five Overlords

Raven became aware of an arrogant voice emanating from behind him, with an underlying tone of menace.

"You're asking for protection money?" He turned around with a slight frown on his face.

Standing behind him was a figure reminiscent of an Elf, with their long ears and towering height.

Despite being a male, the elf's appearance had a slightly feminine touch which contrasted with the intimidating image he was attempting to convey.

Raven had received some information about this from the Merchant. In the Bloodline Trial, there were numerous species coexisting, but they tended to stick to their own kind. Each of these groups also had a designated leader.

Those groups tried to gather newbies who had just entered the Bloodline Trial and didn't have a chance to spend their coins yet. Subsequently, various approaches were employed to acquire the coins from the individual, including intimidation and physical aggression if alternative measures fell short.

Furthermore, the leaders of the group received all the coins that were collected by its members.

Each group shared a common objective - purchasing the Nameless Sword for their respective leader. Essentially, they acted as loyal followers of the most powerful participant from their race in the Bloodline Trial.

Unfortunately, throughout the years, even with the support of these groups, no one had managed to collect even half the amount they needed to buy the Nameless Sword.

Despite the challenges, these players remained hopeful and determined. They firmly believed that acquiring the sword and unlocking its Mythical Bloodline would bring them great benefits within Hellfire.

"You..." The elf with silver hair was taken aback as Raven turned. To his surprise, Raven was a human!

He had only been here for a few months but this was his first time seeing a human! He had only heard about humans from the other Players in the Bloodline Trials who in turn heard from previous generations of players in the trials.

No one would've believed that humans really existed, if it wasn't for the Achievement Board that was always visible in this Resting Hall.

This hall was connected to all four trial spaces in the Bloodline Trial. After every trial's success or failure, the player could come here to rest, make strategies or ask for help from other players.

Out of the top 50 players listed on the Bloodline Trial's Achievement Board, seven players were identified as humans.

Looking at Raven, the young elf was stunned. There were said to be five overlord species in Hellfire. Even though it wasn't official, no one refused that.

Out of the five overlord species, the Draconians were considered to be the strongest due to their bloodline that linked them to the dragons. This bloodline endowed them with an exceptional affinity for natural mana.

They possessed dragon-like wings on their backs, granting them the ability to soar through the skies with ease. Additionally, their physical strength surpassed all others, making them unparalleled in power.

The second overlord species were the Archangels. No one knew the world they came from, but they were no less than the Draconians.

It was rumored that they had some traces of the blood of gods. However, that blood was very diluted, unlike the pure blood of the dragons in the Draconians.

The Third Overlord species in Hellfire were the Demions. Similarly to Archangels, Demions also had a powerful lineage. They had impure blood of the Demons. They were inherently violent and people tried to avoid them as much as possible.

The fourth overlord species of Hellfire was known as Tritons. Not much was known about them since just like humans, no one had seen them in Bloodline Trials for a long time. However, according to the rumors, Tritons were blessed by water. Their strength was much stronger in water or in any area that had plenty of water. However, they weren't helpless in dry land either.

Their physical strength wasn't even close to Draconians, but their healing and stamina was the best. In fact, their healing abilities were so high that they were called Immortals of Hellfire, who could heal from any wound within seconds!

As for the fifth overlord species, surprisingly enough, it was humans!

In the Bloodline Trials, humans were the most mysterious for these people. By common sense, humans should've been the weakest. They didn't have any extraordinary strength or healing.

Even their physical defense was below average in this place. They should've been people who could be killed with a single hit. However, there was something that humans had.

The human race's natural inclination towards mana and magic was unparalleled, sometimes even rivaling that of Draconians. In addition, they possess a unique ability to integrate with bloodline in Hellfire easily, as they did not carry any inherent bloodline traits of their own.

Humans are akin to a blank canvas, a canvas that could be painted with any color without any difficulty.

In contrast, the remaining dominant species exhibited relative weakness in this regard. They were not able to fully harness the advantages of the Bloodlines bestowed upon them in Hellfire without expending a considerable amount of effort.

The moment the elf realized that Raven was a human, a member of the five dominant species, he instinctively took a cautious step back.

Elves were strong and had a high natural affinity but when it came to the species ranking, they were barely considered at the tenth ranking. What caught his eyes even more was that Raven was covered in High Tier high tier items as if he wasn't a new player at all!

The elf's gaze drifted off to the Achievement Ranking, stealing yet another quick glance.

Raven caught sight of him glancing in a different direction and followed his gaze, only to come across an enigmatic leaderboard. It seemed to be displaying a ranking of some sort, but the words were hovering in mid-air, etched in a font that resembled blood.

He was aware that one's Bloodline at the end was awarded according to their Achievement score in the Bloodline Trial. He felt a deep curiosity about the ranking and was eager to find out the exact score he needed to achieve.

He examined the names listed in the ranking.
