Beast Tamer Ascension

Book 2: Chapter 69: The Myriad Beast Sect

Vol 2 Chapter 69: The Myriad Beast Sect

"Grand Elder, could there be some misunderstanding?"

Lin Jing’s expression was flat. He had only wanted a taste of the Hundred Flower Immortal Honey, but somehow the conversation had veered into whether he was avoiding detours in life.

Could it be that this honey carried some special implications?

"Misunderstanding?"

Elder Fang’s wrinkled face broke into a faint smile. "The Hundred Flower Immortal Honey is a sacred treasure of Hundred Flower Valley, produced in minuscule amounts. Only the Valley Masters of each generation are allowed to consume it.

"Beyond the Valley Master, only the Valley Master’s spouse, on the day of their grand wedding, has ever had the privilege of tasting it. Don’t tell me you didn’t know."

Lin Jing fell silent.

He suddenly recalled hearing about this.

Was this old woman assuming he had some feelings for the Valley Master of Hundred Flower Valley?

But the Valley Master’s age... wasn’t she older than his great-grandmother?

"Senior, I merely wish to taste the honey. I harbor no improper intentions toward the Valley Master," Lin Jing quickly clarified.

Elder Fang eyed Lin Jing suspiciously.

Was he too embarrassed to admit the truth, or did he genuinely just want to satisfy his palate? The latter seemed unlikely—Lin Jing didn’t look like a glutton.

"Are you sure?"

"I’ll pass," Lin Jing replied, deciding that Elder Fang’s personality was too unpredictable. He made an excuse and promptly left.

Better to watch the Flame Dragon Carp eat than risk tarnishing his reputation.

If he actually ate that honey, he’d never live it down.

A Few Days Later

East of the Great Wasteland, in the Misty Forest.

In the soft light of dawn, a procession of carriages emerged from the forest’s edge. The carriages, along with the horses pulling them, appeared to be crafted entirely from ink strokes, exuding a sense of profound elegance.

Seated atop the leading carriage was a coachman dressed in black-and-white robes. His face was obscured by a wide-brimmed straw hat, and his entire being radiated an imposing aura.

Inside the carriage behind him were three individuals—an elderly man and two younger disciples, all dressed in matching robes.

"Finally, we’ve arrived in the Ancient Kingdom. Thank you for guiding us!" The gray-haired elder cupped his hands in gratitude toward the coachman.

"No need to thank me," the coachman replied. "Your Myriad Beast Sect is an important partner of our Lotus Pavilion. Escorting you here was no trouble at all.

"However," he added with a note of caution, "I must remind you—once you enter the Ancient Kingdom, mind your behavior. This is no longer Qingzhou."

With those words, the coachman and his ink-formed carriage vanished, leaving the three members of the Myriad Beast Sect behind.

The gray-haired elder turned to the two younger disciples—a man and a woman.

"Qingyu, Whitebird, let’s go."

"Yes, Deputy Sect Master," the two replied. Transforming into streaks of light, they flew toward the nearest Immortal City.

"The price we paid to travel from Qingzhou to the Ancient Kingdom wasn’t small," the Nascent Soul elder began. "With the Lotus Pavilion’s guarantee, we’re free to act in the Great Wasteland. I brought you two here to broaden your horizons. Remember, do not violate the Ancient Kingdom’s laws."

The disciples nodded solemnly.

Before they could land and find a place to rest near the city, the elder suddenly halted in midair, extending his hand.

A massive hand of true essence materialized, snatching a cultivator riding a giant eagle from the ground below. The rider, along with his mount, was lifted into the sky, his face pale with terror.

"Spare me, Senior! I don’t know how I’ve offended you!" the rider begged, standing atop the captured eagle. His fear grew as he gazed at the Nascent Soul elder’s imposing projection in the sky.

"Are you a disciple of the Beast Taming Sect?" the elder asked.

The eagle-rider hesitated, then quickly answered, "Yes, Senior. I am an Inner Sect disciple of the Beast Taming Sect. May I ask what you need from me?"

"Just as I thought," the elder remarked with a smile. "I sensed your Beast Taming Qi and guessed as much. To think we’d run into someone from the sect we were looking for so soon after arriving."

The disciple’s expression turned to dismay. Why had he, of all people, been singled out by this mysterious elder?

"Senior, I am currently on an official mission, delivering invitations..." the disciple said nervously.

"Invitations?"

"Yes, Senior. I am here to deliver invitations for the upcoming Holy Son Inauguration Ceremony of the Beast Taming Sect. If you’re interested, you’re welcome to attend."

"Holy Son Inauguration Ceremony?" The Myriad Beast Sect trio exchanged puzzled glances.

The elder’s gaze sharpened. "Didn’t your sect just get sealed by the Ancient Kingdom? Yet you still have the leisure to hold an inauguration ceremony?"

"Lin Shixiong’s unparalleled talent earned him a spot on the Genius Rankings. This was a unanimous decision by several of our demonic ancestors," the disciple explained cautiously, offering the invitation with both hands.

The elder studied the invitation for a moment before speaking. "Very well. Return and tell your sect’s elders that the Myriad Beast Sect of Qingzhou will attend the ceremony to offer our congratulations."

Qingzhou? The disciple’s heart sank.

He knew Qingzhou was a region outside the Ancient Kingdom, a place without laws where massacres and exterminations were common. Hearing that his captor hailed from Qingzhou only deepened his unease.

"Thank you, Senior. I’ll take my leave." Without hesitation, the disciple fled, abandoning his task of delivering invitations and heading straight for Hundred Flower Valley.

The Nascent Soul elder handed the invitation to his two disciples.

"Eleventh stage of Qi Refinement?" Qingyu and Whitebird exclaimed after reading it.

The invitation not only provided details about Lin Jing’s placement on the Genius Rankings but also extended an open challenge to Core Formation cultivators from the Great Wasteland to spar with him during the ceremony.

The Myriad Beast Sect disciples were stunned. Lin Jing’s sect seemed confident in his abilities—not just boasting about his Genius Ranking placement but declaring him the strongest of his generation in the Great Wasteland.

The Nascent Soul elder frowned. "This complicates our mission. The Beast Taming Sect’s dissolution was supposed to be our opportunity to absorb their members. But with a talent like this, it won’t be easy to convince their elders to abandon their sect."

Turning to his disciples, he asked, "Now that you’ve seen the information on this Holy Son of the Beast Taming Sect, do you have the confidence to defeat him?"
